My baby girl was in the ER!!

Clarissa, just checking in and saw this. You poor things! May I lend my two cents and recommend you bring your girl to a plastic surgeon? I brought my at the time 3 year old (now 7) to a plastic surgeon and not the ER when she slipped in the tub and cracked her forehead open (yes the blood was everywhere!). A great decision. I had had experience with the ER near us and it was awful; it has since shut down!. Doctors in ERs may not be plastic surgeons, so just sew up the wound in whatever way they know how. Our plastic surgeon for Lindsey was great - I had our pediatrician call him to open his office, he came and took care of her and voila - no scar and I mean none. So good, heck I'm going to him for my own bit of work this year! :)

Also, see if there is a Pediatric Emergency Room in your area - either at a hospital or center on its own. That way, in the future if any other needs you can go straight there. A place by us is PM Pediatrics. See if something like this exists by you. They are centers only for kids emergencies, fully staffed by specialists. A godsend. No waiting, less tears. A lot of these are opening up thanks to mothers like us complaining about kids ER care.

This happens to all parents, no matter how vigilant and how good; so I hope you know you are not at all at fault. I had 4 - count 'em - 4 hosital trips for stitches before I was 5 years old, all on my face. My parents were the talk of the own. I was,how would a say, a "spirited" child!

Good luck and kiss that little brave munchkin for me.

Julie
