Muscle Soreness

If your muscles are still pretty sore, even after a couple of days, should you wait before working them again, or is that a good thing?

Depends on how sore they are. If it's just a little residual soreness, I'd say it's o.k. to work them again. On the other hand, if you are still very sore "after a couple of days," it could be a sign of overtraining (either intensity or frequency). I sometimes find that if my muscles have a bit of residual soreness in them, it goes away once I begin to work out (this happened when I did an especially intense arm workout--can't remember which one :-().

I agree with the other response, but I also think this all depends on your body. My DH doesn't feel sore the day immediately following a tough workout but 2 days later. For example if he works his chest really hard tonight (& he will because we're doing S&H Back/Chest together), he won't feel it until Saturday. I find this totally odd because I will feel it almost immediately but by Saturday, I'll be ready to go again. Of course I won't because Saturday I will be doing legs.

Hey,

You work out with your husband? That is sooooooo cute. So do you have two sets of weights in the home? I feel emabarrassed lifting weights in front of men.

Yeah, DH & I workout together. We have a bunch of weights. He bought me a 100 lb set for Christmas 2 years ago & we literally found a set in someone's trash! I got him a squat cage for his birthday last year (I can't spot what he can squat!) & when we did that we found that our bars were too short for the cage. So, off we went to get a long bar!

He has been really impressed with the results I'm getting with Cathe, so started doing S&H with me. I can't convince him that warming up with her is essential, so I do that alone.

Lifting weights with him has been really good for me. It has challenged me to lift heavier. I still watch my form but I am progressively getting stronger faster than I was without him being in the room.
