I personally love the ab work in MM and from Core Max. The ab work from the Intensity series(C&W, BC, ME, PUB) are FABULOUS. This week I am doing a CTX rotation(after a 3 week illness) and am finding my abs a little bit sore from the ab work I've done from these workouts.
Regarding MM and Gym Styles. MM is a total body weight workout. It is not as endurance based as say ME or PH but I wouldn't classify it as total body strength either. The GS series works on 1 to 3 body parts at one time as opposed to working the whole body in one workout as you do in MM. HTH a little bit.
