Muscle Max band question

Hi Cathe,

Today I was struggling a little bit with my band doing lateral raises. I am 5'9" - is it reasonable to not wrap my hand like you do (so I get a little extra length)?

BTW - I am really enjoying your new workouts as well. My husband bought me a new step and a new set of weights for Christmas - fun to have new equipment.

Happy New Year

Not Cathe, but I don't wrap the band in the same manner as Cathe does so that I can have a little extra length (only certain upper body exercises). I think it is a matter of preference and strength, but make sure that you have a good grip on it (you don't want it to pop back at you- ouch!). Obviously, I would also like to know what Cathe has to say. :D

Sounds reasonable to me! (Cathe and crew are all about 5'-5'2" I believe.)

YOu could also try sitting down and doing this, seated on the band (which would allow you to wrap it).

Thanks for the feedback! That is always a concern - the pop back. So far, hasn't happened. It's funny, because I have done this workout numerous times and just thought of band length this time...

What an idea - do you sit on a step or on the floor? I have both the regular step and the mini step. I'm thinking that might be good for the mini... Thanks for your input...

Hi -- I've been doing Muscle Max twice a week recently and I do not wrap my resistance band -- I'm 5'6". Cathe & crew are 3 or 4 inches shorter than me I think (met them on the '05 Road Trip).

If I wrapped my band like Cathe I'm pretty sure I'd reach failure before I got those last 15 pulses accomplished. And I definitely would have to believe you need to adjust the band according to your height and it's length. :)

Have a fantastic, fit & healthy day. :)

Thanks for the input - I truly forget sometimes that I am much taller than Cathe - this impacts some things more than others, but it does make a difference. I hope to meet her someday....

Not Cathe here.

I do not have a band. Just use dumbbells. Easy to control since you always know the exact weight and the grip/motion always is the same. Also, you can increase the weight as you strengthen.
The band does provide variety, however.

I agree. Variety is good. Plus, for me, the band hits my muscles in a very different way -- probably because my muscles are so used to dumbbells. The burn with the band is tremendous! Muscle Max is a fantastic workout. I really love it. :)

I do like using dumbbells - but I must say the band has been very challenging. I am realizing that part of the reason is the amount of tension created because of my height. I definitely struggle when I wrap it!! Thanks for your feedback.
