Muscle Endurance for the first time ! WOW!

Hi,
I did the Muscle Endurance for the first time this morning. Loved it and it was fun and Cathe keeps you going. However, not sure if it was becasue it was my firsst time and i am new to Cathe, or if it is the fact I am 56 yrs. old! But I could not use the same weights they used and I had my bar really, really low.
There were a few times that I could not make it through the entire section.
I also did Boot camp for the first time yesterday and I did not do the entire workout, especially the terminator? Yikes!
I am a little sore, does this alwasy happen after these workouts or does it eventually get easier?
Marsha

Hi Marsha! I love ME!! It's a stellar endurance workout. You did a great job with it, and with BootCamp yesterday! You're really throwing yourself into it! :) You can feel very proud of your efforts, no matter how "low" you had to go, or how many breaks you needed to take. You will probably see some fairly fast improvement over the first bit of doing these workouts, as you learn how to pace yourself through them, and your body starts responding to the added stress you're putting on it. The bicep work in ME is especially reknown for being really tough.

In one of her other workouts (Cardio Kicks), Cathe says, "If you got it the first time, you'd be bored. I'm here to challenge you!" The great thing about Cathe's workouts is that most people are *not* able to get through them very well the first time around; that's what seems to make us keep coming back, over, and over, and over again.

Enjoy your new workouts!
Sandra

Thank you Sandra!
I love what you wrote and how good you made me fee. ME was tough and the bicep work really was hard, I could not do the entire routine, but I did at least go to the end, even if I wimmped out a little.

Now, i have to see about getting a low-impace easier cardio workout, I hear her new one, Basic step is good, any of her older ones you can recommend? I have two left feet and I mean two left feet:>0
THANK YOU.
Marsha;-)

Being new to Cathe and to Step, I started out with Basic Step and Body Fusion and it is a GREAT choice for the beginning stepper! I also hear the work outs on the Classics DVD are pretty basic too but I think Basic Step and Body Fusion is the MOST basic.

I had tried step in the past and was always absolutely horrible at it...since discovering Cathe I have surprised myself at how well I am catching on. I have recently completed power max with minimal mistakes and that is one of her older, more intricate work outs.

Start easy and work your way up...you will get it. Cathe is a great teacher!

Have a great work out!

Hi again,

I agree with Wendymin, Basic Step and Body Fusion are an ideal place to start with Cathe's choreography. From there, if you want to *gradually* increase the intensity levels of your workouts, Step Heat and Mega Step Blast might be the way to go. Both contain really basic choreography, but offer slightly more intensity than BS and BF.

I hope I am as active as you when I am 56!

Sandra

Way to go Marsha! You are awesome! Even Cathe has an evil laugh during the bicep work! She knows your pain!

Yes, it does get easier but never easy! You are an inspiration!

Hi Marsha,

I, too, am 56 years old and love Cathe. I discovered her about 3-4 months ago, and probably will never go back to the exercises I was doing before. I also can't go as high as Cathe, but I don't worry about it -- I do the best I can. I did ME today, too, and did the most weights I've ever done -- so I'm feeling good about that.

One thing I like about Cathe is that she talks form so much that I tend to keep good form with her and so I don't injure myself. With some other workouts, I guess I just didn't know enough, and so I kept injurying myself. But Cathe keeps you constanting thinking form, form, form.

Aren't those biceps something? I love her little laugh.

Have a great one.:)

Marsha,
Sounds like you did fantastically! Did you REALLY expect to use the same weight as Cathe your first time??? I've been a Cathe addict for about 2 years, and still can't come close to her weight on lunges or biceps. Pace yourself, take it slow, and be happy with small improvements over time. And welcome to a healthy addiction! :D

(Don't forget to vote on the age poll in Open Discussion. We are trying to win!)

Wow Marsha you are impressive! Just tackling those workouts! (You must be sleeping good! :)) I've been doing ME (and Boot Camp) since Cathe released them and I can't always do what she does. I wouldn't worry about doing what Cathe does, do what YOU can do. Some days I can do what she does, some days less, and some days more. It really depends on how much rest I've had, other workouts that week, etc. So like maybe because you did Boot Camp the prior day versus having a rest day you couldn't do as much as you might next time. Anyway, you're doing awesome! :)
