RE: Dani!

Hi Sabrina,

Jump right in! I think those of us who do not own an mp3 might be mystified by them. I love the information I am recieving here, don't you? deb:)

Deb! How is your new place? I'm gonna be alright. Trying to buy an mp3 player...So much music I have to listen to for the band. My daughter wants one too. Think I'll hawk my house. Thanks for saying hellOOOOOO. deb;-)

Hi Brandi! Mine is the 512MB iPod shuffle, ($99) and it holds approximately 120 songs. :)

Ipods- I have a mini, a 30 GB Photo Ipod AND and iPod shuffle! :)
The mini is super cute! The big one holds everything I would ever want to listen to, and the shuffle the size of a pack of gum. Shuffle was $99 (I got an open-box larger model with 1 GB of space on it.)
Mini holds about 1100 songs on it
Shuffle holds about 250 songs
The 30 GB currently has 8,000 songs on it and there is still plenty of left over space.

We have also purchased some other brands and we did not like the interface or coordination with our computers. Also, it was not organized as well. That's been about a year, so maybe the competition has brought some better products on the market.

I have the iPod mini too (PINK)!!! I have all 3. The iPod Photo, iPod mini and iPod Shuffle (smaller one w/only 120 songs). I'm an iPod junkie too, I know!! :)

One more thing, Deb. You asked about burned CDs being able to be imported.
The answer is YES. Itunes will query the CD database and all commercial CDs are in the database so Itunes will title it for you and list the artist and sort it with all the right tags and you only push the button that says IMPORT. Burned CDs will have to be titled by hand unless your computer burned it and "remembers" the play list you originally used for it.
Make sense?

Thanks Amy, makes sense. Now I just have to choose the right mp3...and part with allot of moola. deb;-)

I have a Dell digital Jukebox. I have used Music Match with it. I have never had to adjust the format for mp3 I have recorded my dvd's onto the player. I have also put them on a dvd to play when away from home. They play in our vehicles and all of our dvd players. They just do not play in the dvd player factory installed in our fifth wheel and a sharper image portable player that I have.I think it was the top of the line when dh bought it foer me. I have had it for a year and a half. I do not know which model it is. I love it. You can make voice recordings as well.

Well, I am going to rethink this gift card thing for DH on Father's Day. Maybe an Ipod is not such a bad idea. I had read the same reviews Nancy, so I was hesitant to purchase one. But if they pose no serious skipping problems, I think I'll just go ahead & get one for DH. He would get so much use out of it. Wish me luck in finding one this week-end. UGGGHHH!

Marla

None of mine have EVER skipped once and you can bet I use them to exercise. :)
Marla, go to the Apple Store in Willowbend Mall in Plano. They are helpful and completely stocked up in all models. I was just there Thursday night.

Sounds like the most important feature is to be able to download the music easily and cheaply. With mine, I actually have to buy the CD in order to get one song. It would be a major drawback for anyone who wants a lot of songs. I pretty much just work out to the same 10 songs. If Itunes is cheap and convenient, then the Ipod makes loads of sense.

Joni! YOu crack me up girl...yes, I did try the soup, twice! I had to tone down the spice ( I'm a latina...like it hot) and my daughter loved the ingredients w/out the heat. Steve, by the way, did not like the soup. Too bad, more for me and my daughter:9 deb

Coming in really late, but just wanted to put my vote in for an IPod. I have the big mama! :) I have 321 songs on it already. I take it when I go on runs outside. I have to hold it though because I lost the clip for my shorts, but I agree with the other poster that said it was heavy and tends to pull your shorts a little. I also use it for my treadmill runs. I just purchased 9 songs for $8.91. The songs were from 5 different CD's, so i just saved some dinero right there.

I have a funny story though. I burned a CD for my dd and gd from my music library a while ago. Well, they put a new list together for me, so I thought no problem. I had to buy the Hamster Dance (from the movie Are We There Yet?). Well, I was running on the treadmill that song came on. I almost fell off. I was laughing so hard. I forgot that any purchases from ITunes goes right into my library even though I made a separate playlist for dd. Anyone know how to delete songs from the library without wiping the whole thing clean?!:D

Oh, sometimes I'm running and the IPod shuts off after 2 minutes exactly. No rhyme or reason as to why this happens. It doesn't happen all the time. I'll have to figure that one out. I do love it though.

Hi Dallas,
Funny story, thanks for sharing. Do you find it difficult to transfer your exsisting cd collection over to your ipod? I am quite computer illiterate and hope it isn't over my head...lol:D deb

Hi Deb,

If I can do it, so can you. ITunes is really user friendly. I've only used ITunes, so I can't comment on the others. You have to designate a good block of time to do this. When i was downloading songs, I cleaned my office. I'd put in a CD and checked the songs I wanted to Import and then let the computer do the rest. I kept doing that until I got all the initial songs in there. Don't forget to click "Update IPod" after the songs are in your library. I forgot to do this yesterday. So, when I took my IPod in he car yesterday i was mad I had forgotten that little step. That's the other good part you can get this cradle (I think it was a little over $100.) to hook your IPod into and whalla, you can listen to it while your driving.

Let me know if you need help if/when you get the IPod. I'll try and help you just PM me.

Dallas

Getting ready to buy one soon. I will let you know. Thanks...you may be hearing from me. deb
