mp3 players....can we talk?

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, you can download your cd collection.

2. No, I don't think ipod is the best one you can buy. I recommend www.cnet.com - they have great reviews so you can find the one that's best for your needs. I don't think ipods are bad, I just don't think they are the best ones out there.

3. After doing tons of research, I bought a Creative Zen Micro (it doesn't have 20G of memory, it's a mini one). But they make a larger version also. The battery life lasts much longer (12 hours) than the ipod, it came with an extra battery, I can play the radio on it. I just love it.

4. I tend to download music from buy.com. Stay away from the free sites like edonkey and kazaa - the songs usually have adware and spyware on them and can mess up your computer.

I don't have one either, Shelley....but my question is the same!

Where have you been Deb?
I don't hang out much either, but I always enjoy your posts!

iTunes is just the music software - not a file format. iTunes (and the iPod) can play songs in a variety of formats, including MP3. No conversion is necessary - you just need to import your MP3's into iTunes and you'll be ready to go.

Dani!

Do you mind my asking where you got your Ipod Shuffle and how much you paid? TIA!

Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I was just looking at them. Best buy has the 512 MB for $100 and the 1 GB for $150.:)

Hi Debbie. I think they (iPod Shuffles) run for about $99. I have a friend who has a friend who works at Target. She got it at a discount for me for around $94. :) I love it. It's about the size of a lighter.

RE: Dani!

Thanks Dani AND Sabrina! That's great! I am TRYING to stay around the $100-150 area. My son is trying to talk me into the one he has but it is $250.00! I would love to be able to spend that much but feel it's not necessary. Dani...does yours have trouble jumping when you run/jog? That mainly would be my prupose for having one. I want one sooo bad and just can't decide which one to get. (This has been going on for two monhts!) Thanks for your help!

Debbie, not at all! The sound is crystal clear....like velvet!! No skipping or jumping whatsoever and it is sooooooo light. You can't even feel it. It is PERFECT for jogging. But, be careful not to have the volume too high if you're running near traffic or on a bike path.

I love my iPod Shuffle! Good luck and HAVE fun with it!!!!

RE: Dani!

The iPod Shuffle should not skip around because I think that one is of the flash-memory type. However, even the regular iPods do not skip as they have a very large cache memory. I know people who go on 90-minute runs with their iPods and have never had them skip.

RE: Dani!

Thanks Emily! Dani, how long does yours last? Has the battery ever run out while jogging?

The battery will last up to 12 hours!! I plan on using it when I run the marathon and it will definitely last the whole time. :)

Hey Melissa,

Good to hear from you too. Getting to the bottom on some personal issues, a very good thing. Come here several times a day to keep up with y'all. How are you doing? deb:)

Emily! This sounds so kewl....Let me get this straight: All of my cd's must be transfered to iTunes with the help of music software? Does the software come with the iPod? I wonder if all mp3 players need software like this...Wow.

Thank you Emily for your input! deb:)

Hi Dani,

Question: I have so much music on burned cds. Will the music software transfer music that isn't from an original cd?

Love you wedding album by the way, wow, what a romatic couple you are. Makes me want to get married all over agian. Your husband has a great voice! Does he sing for you often?;-)
