Mothers Day

So I thought it would be fun to see what others have planned for mothers day! Are you a mom? What would your ideal gift be to recieve? What do you have planned with your own mom or MIL...

My son is working sunday so I imagine he will take me out saturday to celebrate. So on sunday I will go see my mother. My ideal gift would be flat abs :) hehehe. But since he can't buy that my ideal gift would be a gift certificate to go shopping or a new cathe dvd :) For my own mother she is asking for new shoes so I guess that is what I will get her.

i am having my mom and brothers over on Sunday and cooking a big lunch for her. i got her a pedicure set. Her feet need some TLC and she never indulges herself.

My good friend and I are treating our moms to a weekend in Newport, RI the following weekend. I love that town and think my mom would love it too. She doesn't really get a chance to travel all that much so I thought I would surprise her with that :7!!

WOW! That sounds like fun. :) I forgot that I am also treating my mom to a massage this friday. First one she has ever had so I hope she enjoys it.

Terri

Sandy that sounds like a blast. Is it just gorgeous there or what!? :)

My dh has to work on Sunday. I just bought myself a Lampe Berger online, so that is my gift. :) We will probably celebrate on Monday. I need some new bathing suits and some new bra's so maybe hubby will take me shopping. :)

Lori

My mom is overseas:( , so I'm sending her two dozen roses via an online service.

As for me, I have no plans. My son is excited though. He says they did a lot of school projects, so I guess I'm getting a handmade card.

I would really just like to be left alone on Mother's Day. I need the break!

Terri I hope your mom enjoys her first massage:D!! To me they are little pieces of heaven:7

Lori, have you been to Newport? It's been about 2 years since I've been there and can't wait to go back...it's gorgeous! I always say it's like walking right into a Norman Rockwell painting:) There is so much to do there besides seeing the mansions, which I of course enjoy but the shopping is great too....and let's not even get into the food, YUM!!}( Gotta get as many workouts in as I can to prepare for the Great Pig Out!!!

Sandy,
No I haven't been. I have seen documentaries, read artlicles, etc.
It sounds like it's going to be a really nice day. :)

Lori

I'm not sure what the family has planned for me for Sunday but I've been looking forward to Fri/Sat because it's MY TIME!!! I'm going to the nearest city all by myself and I'm getting my hair done and (hmmm- this sounds silly when I go to type it) going to a dog show. (That does sound funny doesn't it?) I don't think I'll tell my hairdresser that I'm going to a dog show! ::+

Jes, check your email...just wrote back:p

Lori, oh I hope you get to go one day......that town has some amazing history on top of everything else. It is truly an experience to be had:D
I'll fill you in when I get back!!

Yes Sandy please do. I have been to Vermont, Mass, NH, but never RI.

I forgot to add the sweetest Mother's Day present of all. I am going to a Mother's Day Tea at my son's preschool tomorrow. It shoudl be precious. :)

Lori

My DD is with her Dad on Mother's Day. Initially we were going to spend a couple of hours together, but last night we had a chat and decided it would be much more fun to make our OWN special Mother's Day next week when she is back with me.:)

I'm a mommy but nothing special planned. We live too far away from our mothers so just a day at home. We'll actually go the gym because we haven't been there in weeks. That's pretty special, huh?? :)

For Mother's Day we are going out to dinner wiht DH's mother & Father and sister on Saturday. On Sunday, my girl friends and I are having a mothers BBQ. We plan the menu our way and have our families join us.

I am not sure what my DH has planned for Mothers Day. He did buy me concert tickets to see Kenny Chesney. Can't wait. He is going with me too.

I mailed cards with moola yesterday because I had forgotten it was coming. That started the headless chicken part of my morning. A C note to each of our mothers. I know my mom will like that and probably has an eye on a dish she can put it on. She collects antiques. For Rich's mom I usually buy jewlery. As often as not, she doesn't like it and we have taken to sending along the receipt so she can return and exchange. She's into returning and exchanging. I "impiled" I had not been able to find the perfect thing. Okay, I lied.

I am going miniature golfing with my son, who is very excited. I have not told him that I would rather stay home and be pampered and petted like a Queen because that would make me a bad mother, right? Actually, I would be happy just to stay home. Anyway, I find these endless holidays and celebrations trying and rather stupid, but that's just me. :D

And in June comes Father's Day. Boo.

Tell me, what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? Mary Oliver

I'm going to get my mom something for her yard. They are working on landscaping so I'm going to check out some local garden centers to see what catches my eye.

As for me . . my 4 year old has BIG ideas. He wants to get me a bike, flowers and food. LOL He also wants to make me breakfast. We go to the drag races every Sunday so I'm sure we'll be there. I'd prefer if my DH would give us some $$$ and my son and I could spend the day at our local amusement park.

I have to take a pass on Mother's Day this year because my exam is a week from Saturday. I bought myself some new running shoes which will be my Mother's Day present. I will probably take a break and visit my mother in the afternoon. I think my DH and the kids will cook me something special for dinner.
