Monday push-ups

Cathlete
I'm checking in before doing my push-ups. I finished Week 5 Saturday and am moving on to Week 6 without testing. I know I'm still in the 1st column and Week 6 Day 1 has a minimum total of 181 freaking push-ups!!!!! I'm petrified!!!
Still on my knees for the rest of this rotation. I'm going to restart next week...or month...whenever I get thru week 6, on my toes and try to complete a *real* challenge by Christmas.
Just thought I'd send a shout out to you all and hope I feel your positive energy coming my way when I attempt this Herculean effort! :p

Okay Becky!

Here's my energy coming YOUR way! What is left of it! Whoa, it was fine for me today til I got to the 8th. set! OH MY! It is the first time in a long time I had to take a break. I did 25 and took a break for about 10 seconds, then finished the last 5 of that set. My arms are fried and it was actually an easier set then 2 days ago? Weird, but the breaks were only 30 seconds so I think it caught up faster. Here are my numbers:

Week 5, Day 3, Column 1:

12
12
12
12
10
10
9
25 + 5 = 30 (the minumum was 30)

I am also planning to start over after week 6 which terrifies me too! I know I will not be able to do 100 push-ups after next week but I have progressed from 13 to 32 at one time so that is 19 more! 19 more is MORE then what I started with so that is progress! :D How is everyone esle doing??? Where are you?

Hello ladies!! You guys are awesome with your numbers today! Yesterday I attempted Week 4 Day 3 but struggled so bad with the last set that I'm going to do Week 4 again.... But that is ok!

So I have a question.....after week 6....then what? What are y'alls plans?

Hi gals! I'll be doing pushups later today I think...Mondays are crazy around here. Maybe it'll be tomorrow. I'm going to try "power walking" today for my workout, now that it's so cool out. Those Atlanta hills should be good for my glutes, right?

I am also going to re-start week 6. I'm going to try column 3. Yikes!

Sending all the energy I can muster your way Becky! Don't dis the difficulty of the challenge you're doing now, though. Pushups are difficult done on the knees too!!

I did the pushups in MM for the first time in a while the other day, and I still had to drop to my knees towards the end of the slow ones. I had thought that maybe I could get through them now, but I guess not. Slowing the count down really makes them a lot harder!!

I DID IT

Thanks ladies! You are the BEST!!!!! :D
I DID IT!!!!!!!
Full disclosure though...... I could not do the large sets of reps required so I broke them up....
*warm up * set of 10 to start
3 sets of 21
then I realized I was almost half way there!!:)
so I did a fast set of 8 to get to an even 81...only 100 left....
I did the next 80 in sets of 10 reps, but the first 4 sets I was able to keep my rests pretty short (30 seconds)
then about a 5 minute break
2 more sets of 10
then I tried to get the last 20 in one set, but I fried after 12...quick break and last 8!!!! Woo hoo!

I am noticing I am able to handle the large number of sets, but not the high rep counts. Anyone else notice this? I am optimistic I can get finished with the 1st rotation by end of week and will test & restart on toes next week. Has anyone printed out the new rotation in the pocket format? It is really neat! I have it all ready to go for next week!

Good luck ladies! You are all amazing and doing awesome! Thank you for the positive energy! I really felt it! :D

Hi all!

Great job!

Pinny, I am planning to start all over but maybe do a harder column??? Not sure yet. I DO plan to keep at it because I know I cannot do 100! I can only do about 32 on my toes but that is after I am fatigued from doing the earlier sets. Hmmmm, maybe I need to retest on a non p-u day. I might be able to eek out more???

Becky, yes, I did print out the lil' booklet...it is so cute! And, handy to put in purse. Great job, breaking them up is okay. Keep at it!

Jodi, Week 6, Column 3? OH MY! I sooo hope I can achieve that some day. Doing them slow def makes them harder. That is why I start FAST! But, it catches up quick! LOL!

I am still enjoying this challenge. It makes me do them! Good luck everyone, we are all progressing!

Debbie, I always do the test on a separate day, giving a couple of days rest from the last pushup day. Wanna be at my best, ya know;)

Awesome, Becky!!! Just think about it...you just did 181 pushups!!! That's amazing! I agree with you...I can do lots of sets of fewer reps, but those longer sets are killer!

I remember hearing at one point that Cathe and crew had some days where they had done hundreds of pushups while filming STS. (I think Brenda said at the July RT that she had added them up? I can't remember where I heard it.) And at the time it seemed absolutely impossible...how could anyone do hundreds of pushups a day?? And we're doing it! Amazing!

I haven't printed out the little booklet (though it's tempting!) I had already printed out the whole program, so I guess I'll save paper and stick with the one I've got.

And Becky, I'm happy to see that I managed to lure you over to the OD forum to post in the nice to meet you thread!:D
