Good Morning To You All,

I hope everyone had a restful night.

How are you starting your day?

Todays workout:

SH Shoulders/Back & Chest
MM Abs
Easy step workout to loosen up for tomorrows iTread #24

I will be back in a bit....

Hi Heidi! I did it again! I posted a duplicte thread, but THIS time I changed the title so we don't use both today! LOL

I LOVE MM abs. What step workout are you planning???

I started my morning with my upper body workout. Felt great, but I'm looking for ways to switch up the exercises. Any suggestions???

I'm starting to get cleavage! lol Not from the size of my chest, most certainly, lol, but from the muscle. I caught a glimpse of it in the mirror this morning and just HAD to flex to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me! LOL

Monday Monday. Quiet day for me.

GOOD MORNING!! :) Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, I can't believe it's over already, and I'm sitting back at work. :(

W2!! WooHoo! Feeling great. Ready to knock this challenge on it's ass!
Had a great weekend. I was waiting for free day all week, and when it gets here, I'm not even hungry for junk! What's up w/ that? Did not over due it! I should of known to stay off the scale this morning, it shows I gained weight back. I was 119 on Friday, this morning I was 122 again....What the H*ll!! I guess you should never weigh yourself after a free day, plus TTOM is nearing fast! I always gain at least 5 pds.

I picked up Flaxseed Oil caps. It says to take 3- a day...do you all do this? It's hard enough for me to remember to take it 1 time a day, but 3!!
Decided to go to Heated Power Yoga last night. It was great! I can't believe how you are so relaxed and focused when you are done. I plan on taking it at least 2-3 times a week. It's right down the road from my work. They have Power Hour classes at lunch time, so I can always hit these as well!

Tonight is LBWO. I am also going to start C25K today as well...Tomorrow will be my normally HIIT.

Meals are planned and I'm ready to go for the week!
Be back later,

XoXo

Good morning ladies! How is everyone?

I just got back from a very last minute trip to Montreal for a few days. LOVED IT! What a beautiful city...and a great (and much needed) change of scenery for me. Admittedly, I've fallen off the BFL wagon in a big way the past few days, but now that I'm home I'm ready to jump back into the swing of things. I do have one issue which is that sore hip/back that I told you about last week. It just doesn't seem to be getting better! It's not worse, and certainly not debilitating, but it's not any better either. I think that I'll need to choose my workouts wisely. For some reason, I think I may have hurt it doing squats. It seems that I feel okay while I'm walking around, but if I sit down for any length of time and then try to get up, it kills me. And if I bend over for anything, yikes. It acts up again and I'm out of commission for a while. The whole thing is very weird. I've NEVER had anything like this, and I've been working out for years. I started with Cathe in '99 and I was working out consistently for years before that, and I've never injured myself. I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with going back to work full time four months ago and sitting at a desk all day! Prior to that, I was a SAHM and worked outside the home on a part-time basis. I spent very little time sitting.

Anyway, enough ranting...

Gayle, you look fantastic! I'm amazed at your results! Keep up the good work.

Heidi, do you have a day off from getting DD to the train? I hope you were able to sleep in this morning.

Jennifer, you're doing great! As all these other wise ladies have advised me before...step away from the scale. Nothing good can come from it. ;-)

Well, off to check out some new workouts that might be a little friendlier to me. We'll see what I can find.

BBL ~

Hi Gayle and Jenn!

Gayle: It most be all the chest flyes and push-ups! It is so rewarding to start seeing changes like these.
My biggest change are my arms and abs. Abs have been defined like never before. Love It!:)
Do you use anything other than the BFL upper body exercises right now?

My rotation has been between the SH, GS and PUB DVD's. Each one of these works the muscles a little different. Each time I use or switch on for the other I feel the difference. For instance...PUB gets me good on the biceps. GS is shoulders and SH is tough on the chest. I feel that switching around the routines is better for me in that one I don't feel bored and two they are such great workouts.

For my step workout I was leaning towards LIS. This is a great step workout and I have switched up to using 2 risers. Gets your heart-rate up there but too high.

Jennifer: Once you get in the habit of eating clean isn't it weird that by weeks end you really aren't craving that junk food? I usually don't eat sugary foods so this isn't much of a problem for me. But when it comes to salt...I have to be careful. Like the comercial says you can't eat just one wise potato chip! I don't buy them just so the temptation isn't there. My husband would buy them but I told him to keep them at work because I don't want them in the house.

Have a great workout this evening! Kick Butt!}(

Hi Jenn,

Just was posting when your note came in.

Sorry to hear about your hip issue. It could be something to do with how you are sitting at work. It could be stretching a muscle in a weird way...not sure. My aunt had this same problem. Aggravation to no end! She ended up going to see a CP. I will check out how things went with this and get back to you.

Glad you had a great time in Montreal. :)

Speaking of DD...have to get her to that train shortly..BBL

Have a great day! Hope your hip gets better. How about Yoga? Easy relaxing type I am thinking.
:D

Hi Jennifer ~

I highly recommend a jaunt away from home. It does wonders for the psyche! I don't like to fly, so anytime we think of taking off for the weekend it has to be within driving distance. Montreal was a four and a half hour drive...reasonable enough to make the trip, but long enough to be "far away" from everything. Plus, the primary language in Quebec is french, so it really felt like we were someplace special. (I am obviously a homebody ~ so NOT your world traveler here!!)

I am considering the doctor. I want to give it a couple more days before I decide. Thanks for asking!

Jennifer

Good morning, Heidi,

Yoga is definitely an option. I have quite a few different yoga dvds, and I may use them until I feel better.

So your daughter has school today? :( Yuck. Everyone deserves a long weekend.

Hi Jen,

Guess I am not leaving until 9:10.

My DD has her internship project to work on. Seeing as everyone is out of the way she can gain access to the special microscope needed.
She is also attending a Progeria Conference this afternoon. Experts from all over the country are attending this special meeting.

Jennifer: I agree with Jen...dump that darn scale! If you are noticing changes in your body and feeling better why let the scale tell you otherwise. Keep at it and you will definetly be seeing changes in the numbers too. :7 #1 Rule: Don't weight yourself more than once a month and don't do it around TTOM this would discourage all of us!

Take Care,
BBL

Good morning ladies! Today is my first official day of BFL. However, I'm not entirely new to BFL/EFL. I have attempted this numerous times in the past 4 years, but I'm hoping this time I will stick it out for the duration of the 12 weeks. I've only made it to week 5 in the past. Last night I took my measurements and photos. NOT PRETTY! x( x( However, the numbers and photos don't lie. If that doesn't kick your butt in gear then nothing will.

Here are my meals for the day:
B: Breakfast Casserole (got this recipe years ago from an unofficial BFL site)
S: String Cheese & Apple
L: White Bean Chicken Chili (from Cooking Light)
S: 1/2 Mesquite Turkey Sandwich and Side Salad with Balsamic Vinagrette Dressing (the Wishbone 1 calorie spray)
D: Pork Tenderloin, Broccoli, & Baked Potato
S: (if hungry) string cheese & orange

I predict my biggest challenges are overcoming my Dr. Pepper addiction and drinking enough water. My workout today will be PUB on my own. I hope to hit all 10s!

I look forward to getting to know you all. Have a great day! I'm hoping to BBL to chat.

Welcome Kristi!

Even if some of us are halfway through this challenge you are more than welcome! Nice to have you on-board. I am planning on sticking with this rotation and eating-clean for as this seems to be working great for me so far.

First challenge down...getting your meals planned ahead of time.
What are your plans for your workouts? I have been entering my workouts in a calendar notebook by the month this way I have it there and ready to go. No guessing what is next. Optional changes would be for cardio days.

What are your ultimate goals for this challenge? Get stronger, faster, lighter etc.?

Awesome job on your first HM! :7

Look forward to getting to know you too! ;-)

Take Care,

Girls: Still waiting on DD to get that train! Now she is taking the 10:13am. My day is getting longer by the minute.

Gayle: Do your boys have today off? Mine are still sleeping. They were up until around 2am last night. (Practicing guitar!)

Heidi – The planning part is the easiest part for me. I even plan our supper menu a month at a time. I have for years. For me the hard part comes when I can’t prepare my food for the week ahead of time on the weekend. During the week there isn’t much time after working full time, picking up the kids, cooking dinner, DS’s homework, bathtimes, and bedtimes. That is why I workout during my extended lunch hour. My boss lets me come in ½ hour early so I can take 1 ½ hours for lunch. My main appeal for BFL was the shorter workouts and no calorie counting. I don’t have the patience to go through the calorie counting again. I’m hoping this will fit the bill. However, when January rolls around I would like to continue the eating plan, if it is working for me, but adjust the workouts to 2 total body days and 4 days of running in preparation for my next HM. For this challenge I put together my own training log binder with individual sections for my goals, menu log, workout log, & a section for extra forms. My ultimate goals are to lose a total of 30 pounds, fit into the clothes I bought after I lost 40+ pounds, 20 were from post pregnancy. I’m only 15-20 pounds away from that goal. I also want to up my cardio endurance. I know all of this is doable if I remain focused. It will be a challenge with the holidays, but the free days will help out and I plan to take already prepared food with me.
I’m already planning for Thanksgiving. Thanks for the compliment on my HM. I’m hoping to run it faster this year.

Veronika – Great job getting in your workouts early this morning! The kids are probably off for Veteran’s Day. However, my DS still has school today. Your kids are off all next week for Thanksgiving? Mine only gets Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

I’ll BBL. Time for me to get ready to go home and do my workout. Talk at ya later!

Hi Kristi,

It is great to have everything all in one place for your workout schedule and tracking sheets. Sticking to your BFL or clean eating will help with getting in the right amount of food for strength and weight loss. Having the extra cardio sessions with interval training is perfect for your goals. We all have to face the challenges of the holidays but being ready is the key.

Were is your next race and how soon is it?

Hey Veronika! My DS and DD have today off from school and college because it is Veterans Day. Lucky them! I still have work to do and the regular routines. DD is at her intern lab working on her research project. Later today is the Progeria Conference. She is very excited to be able to go and meet others working in the same field. Again, it will be a late night ride to the train station. I have been up until after 1am every night since last week Thurs.
Starting to feel totally spent but I can just imagine how tired my DD is so I don't complain...too much. ;-)

Finished my Upper and abs. Later tonight I will do my cardio session.
Totally forgot that SH had all those planks! I got a real good ab workout today!

Hey guys. Just a quick post.

First, my kids are in school all this week. Friday is early dismissal, as is all of next week right up to Thanksgiving Day. Then we go back the following Tuesday.

Next, Kristi.....ROCK OUT Day 1, then Week 1! I have to say that taking (and posting) my before pictures was THE NUMBER ONE motivator that kept me moving thru week 1, then thru week 2, then thru week 3. From there, it was the COMPARISON of the current week vs that before pic that keeps me going. GREAT JOB STARTING! Glad you've joined us!

Sorry for no more personals. I want to get some things done around here before the kids get home!

Gayle

Hello again,
All of my children had to go to school today.Public and private schools were open here.
I did GS Upper Body, yes, two DVD's but I only did the timesavers. It took me an hour.I had to do something different today.I couldn't do PUB again.I am really feeling my upper Body right now.I also did the Glutes in B&G and finally a 45 min stretch.Like I said the kids were in school and I had the time so I went for it.Now I need some aspirin.
The eating part is going very well today.Does anyone drink coffee with creamer?I have not given this up since I have started the challenge.
Kristi~ How do you feel right now?
Gayle,I'm like you,I have to fold these clothes before the children come home or else I'll just have a pile here for two more days.
Heidi, excuse my ignorence but what is the Progeria Conference?

BBL
Veronika

Hey Veronika,

Great job on your workout! Upper and lower...You'll be feeling this one tomorrow!

The conference that my daughter is attending is for the aging condition in young children called Progeria. The children are born with this and age at a rapid rate. This conference is to gather together experts from all over the country to talk about recent findings and possible new medicines or treatments. The possibilities of this research are finding cures for this and many other age related illnesses.

I guess between my staying up late and my workout today it knocked me out! I meant to lay down just for a few minutes but I guess I fell asleep! OOOPS! I was suppose to go into work and check on things but didn't. Luckily my DH is there anyway and let me know what was going on.

Going to splash some cold water on my face and head out. (Oh, it is a holiday so I guess I couldn't do anything with the UPS or USPS any way) BBL :)

Quick check in today. Whew, what a day. I have 2 herniated discs in my neck that are pretty managable about 90% of the time. But the stress of my new job has them out of whack. I had 4 hour meeting this morning so opted to skip my cardio until after work so I didn't have a headache. If it doesn't resolve soon, off to PT I will go :(

Hope everyone is doing great! Didn't get a chance to check in over the weekend but did well. Got my workouts in and the BBQ got cancelled so I only had 1 free meal for the week and didn't splurge on another one!
