Hello girls,
Dreary day over here.
Did a very stupid thing today. You know how you always tell your kids not to run down the stairs on their socks? Well I changed into my running clothes and went downstairs, shoes in hand. I slipped and hurt both (!) my knees x( How dumb can a mum get?
I went running anyway, yes not a smart thing to do, but we already established I was a dumb mum:7 I started out slowly and ran 3K (in 22.19min) as a warm up. Then turned around and did my version of a fartlek. Run 4min at HR165 then slow down for 2min at HR155 to recover. It took me only three repeats to get back to my starting point with 20seconds to spare ;-) I read somewhere that doing fartleks once a week would help increase my speed. I would love to run a little faster. Run 5K in sub 30min and 10K in 60min tops. I'd still not be a hare, but at least I can leave the turtle brigade behind me.
I have been meaning to ask you experienced runners: I always run up an overpass over a 4-lane highway when I run. Both going out as well as coming back. Does this count as "hill work"?
Have a very nice day ladies, I'll be icing my knees after I have done abs and core and watch a new DVD I bought: Master and Commander with Russel Crowe.
