Moms: when did you get your period back?

My daughter will be 6 months old on Feb. 14 and I haven't had my period yet. I am still nursing her, but she also gets formula, rice cereal and some fruit and vegetables. Not that I am eager to get my period back; I'm just curious as to when I can expect it. If you've had babies, when did it happen for you? Thanks, Stebby

Isn't it great not to have to worry about that little inconvenience!
I've had two children and nursed my first for a year and my second for 22 months. Both times my period did not return until the month after I stopped breast feeding. I've never felt better than during that time of my life! No mood swings, no cramps, just a nice even
LIFE IS GREAT time of my life. I hope your as lucky as I was. The only draw back for me is I continued to have my period for three months after getting pregnant with BOTH of my children. I guess someone thought I deserved a break. :)

Best of luck to you and your little one!

Tina

Yeah !!! LUCKY !!!!! My periods came back between 3 -5 months after giving birth. Everyone is different. Sometimes, if you are nursing, and on the mini-pill, they don't come back until you stop the mini-pill.

As sure as eggs are eggs, your period will come back at some point. Enjoy !!!!!

Anna :)

Enjoy it while you can, I did because all too soon Aunt Flo comes back to visit. However, I didn't start back on my periods until a month after I stopped breastfeeding my son and I nursed up until his first birthday.

My daughter is almost 5 months old (I can't believe it!) and I am still solely nursing and I THINK I got my period on January 25th. Something lasted a few days and I don't think it was that I over exerted myself. I'll just wait until February 25th;-) to see if this is the case. On the on hand I hope it is (trying to plan #2!!! ) on the other hand, I have not missed my period. It's as though I never had it!

Mine always has come back when I cut back to breastfeeding just once or twice a day (which is somewhere around a year old). Well, technically, mine didn't come back in between my first 4 children :),but I know it would have had I not been planning to have them about 2 years apart like that.

I only had one baby and breastfed her 24 months, but she got only milk for 6 months, then I added solid food some and she nursed less. I got my period 7 months after she was born.

I got mine at 5 months event thought I was exclusively breastfeeding with no solids. Right after I noticed a drop in my milk supply.
However, until I weaned (at 10 months), my period was sporadic. Good news is that my painful cramps are GONE GONE GONE!

I just got mine last month, 14 months after giving birth. After not having it for almost 2 years (how great is that) I was not happy to have "my friend" back. I'm still nursing, some days more than others, so I'm interested in seeing if it's going to be a regular thing or not!

I got my period back at about 6 months. With my last one, I was still nursing exclusively at 6 months I got it anyway...I was so upset. I thought that as long as I nursed exclusively, I wouldn't get it back. With my other 3, by 6 months they were either weaned or supplimenting so I figured i would get my period back with them. Everyone is different. I had a friend who didn't get her period for 6 months after she quit nursing. Remember though, I am pretty sure that even though you are not getting a period, you can still get pregnant...especially when you reach the 6th month. Enjoy this time of being period free....I am so jealous.

I can't remember exactly with my first when I got it back, but with my 2cnd I know it was a year, and with my 3rd it was 9 months.

I wasn't keen on getting mine back at all and it came with a vengeance last week - my baby's 3 months old now and I still breastfeed! I was hoping breast feeding would delay ovulation but not so in my case - bummer. I have NOT missed "Aunty Flo" at all x(

Hey, maybe I'm ready for another baby ? ;-)

Hi there,

I'm lucky! Haven't got mine back yet - Georgia is five months old. Yahoo!

not yet... 9 mos. later!

Robby will be 9 mos. in a couple of days, and I haven't had a period yet. I am still nursing about 5 times a day even though he's on finger foods now. I'm also on a progesterone only pill, so that may be why I haven't had a period yet.

I weaned my first son from BF at 9 mos, and didn't get a period until after he was 100% on formula... I plan on BF Robby to a year. It'll be interesting to see whether I get my period before then or not.
