Hi Girls,

Just a quick one b/c I need to get started on my workout. Although I haven't heard from anyone, DD's step mom is suppose to be arriving today with her new baby. She wants DD to see the baby before she goes to her MIL's house ,so I offered to met her for lunch somewhere and she was suppose to contact me before she left, but she didn't.So my plan was to have my workout done and ready for the day around 12'ish.By rights I should be working out now!!!
Im not sure what to do though. My rotation calls for LM but Im sorta not in the mood and I am not in the mood to run either.I guess I will figure something out.
Lori:)

I will go ahead and put it here:

Two days in a row! I think that I am on a roll here! :) Buenos dias mujeres bellas! :D Hay tanto amor a la parte!

Lori, Lori lo Lori, fee fi fo fori, me my mo mori, Lori! How YOU doin'? :D Layne just got yogurt in his hair. For some reason my dearest daughter thought that it was absolutely imperative that I know that. :p Whatcha got going on today? I ate like a horse yesterday. I think it was the six miles. It took a little while to catch up with me, but now I have plenty of energy just'a waitin' to come out! I am taking Logan out today and we are going for a run, and then my nephew is coming over and I am babysitting him again! I did miss him so much. This time, I will get paid for watching him because she is now a registered nurse and makes bucou bucks. ;) I love the little guy, and I can't believe how fast he is growing! ;( It is time for her to have another!

Charlotte, I am eating MUCH better now, thank you for asking! The GS cookies are now gone, so there is nothing to tempt me with anymore. ;) And I haven't bought anything new, so it is ALL good! gosh, it is taking me an hour to write this because Logan is all over me. Literally! He keeps coming up to me giving my hugs and kisses with loud smacking noises! Oh, I love him! He is the most affectionate kid. He is so much like DH!!! :*

Susan, how is the grind today? I think it is funny that you said that you want to stay home, because I would love to go to work! :+ I need something to stimulate my brain and I need a little personal growth and some adult conversation. How about you come over and take care of my job, and I go to work for you and take care of yours? :p I have no idea what you do and I might be fired within the week, but it could be, like, totally rad!!! :7 :p

Wendy, I love your new avatar! I think that you change yours as much as I change mine! I am going to put up a new one of Logan - he has this dennis the menace hair and he has a mouth full of cookie. He has always loved food! As soon as he could crawl, wherever there was a plate or a bowl, there also was Logan. He is a piggy, and he eats so much more than ALL of us. He will be a football player, I am sure of it!

Sara, my interest is completely piqued now! How does your professor say that you should discipline? I understand that there is major strain that is placed on teachers; they have "quotas" that they have to reach, they have so many expectations that the gov't has put on them (all of my friends who are teachers have quit because they aren't given much leeway in class, and feel like they are in straight jackets because there is so little that they are ALLOWED to do with discipline and how they can teach). I don't imagine that they can take much time without putting the rest of the class behind. I don't expect the teacher to get to the root of the problem: that is my job, though I do expect the teacher to tell me if there has been a behavior change with my kids so I can get right to it. I know that there are some parents who are awful and don't do much for the mental health of their children or really care what is going on, and I suspect those are the kids who getting recess taken away doesn't help. I agree that they do have special needs that standard discipline won't help. But it has worked for my kids. Layne was on the wall once last year, and that was all he needed. Discipline isn't supposed to feel good; most consequenses in life suck. Otherwise, what would deter them from doing whatever they want and being disrespectful? You have to balance that with positive reinforcement, too, of course. And spanking: boy am I happy that is NOT outlawed! And I have very strong opinions on that, as well! LOL! :)

Good Morning Girls!!!!

Have you all made up your mind yet over the thread? LOL! Well so far I ate my breakfast and made up my bed. Still have to bathe the dogs and take some pictures for ebay. No, not of myself, but how much you think I could sell myself for??? LOL! Anyhoo, I need to take some pictures of some tops I want to list.

Yesterday I had DD and her friend workout to Tri's and Bi's slow and heavy series. DD is really getting into Cathe. She invited another friend over yesterday and told them she works out to Cathe and that Cathe is a maniac! Of course the friend has no idea, but DD and the rest of us know!!! LOL! I am still following the March Rotation and did Chest/Back slow and heavy series. Also worked out shoulders from the Oxygen magazine. Today I will do Imax, Coremax 2 and squat (going heavy). I hope I will still be able to breathe after Imax. LOL!

Charlotte~~

Missy,

We posted at the same time...oopsy! Sounds like your having alot of fun at your house. I can see food flying everywhere! LOL!

I bought some girl scout cookies too and handed them over to my children. I did have 2 of them, but before 6pm. LOL! I was having a love affair with the cinnamon almonds. They are really crunchy and so yummy...I couldn't just eat a handful (that is all you are suppose to have of nuts in a day)...had to have more, but they are gone now so it is back to plain nuts.

Well the sun is shining today and that makes me feel better. Got to get going. Enjoy your day and your children!!!! BTW, went for chinese the other day and the lady there brings in her grandchild. You know, that child had the letter "p" ALL OVER the walls where they prepare the food. I almost laughed out loud when I seen all those "p's". I mean, give the child a pad of paper or something. Gosh!!!! LOL!

Missy,

Did you read my other post? I explained a few things in there. Do you think spanking in schools is appropriate. IMHO, I think it is not appropriate. Again, it is schools using scare tactics. My dh and I do not do it at home. I want it put in writing that nobody will lay a hand on my child at school. If so, I will take every action possible to sue the heck out of that school.

I agree that teachers are under a lot of pressure, but that does not mean that the students have to suffer. And, it may have helped your son that one time he got in trouble, but how did he feel about? Humilated? embarrassed? I remember my brother had to wallwatch during lunchtime one day. The misbehaved students had to walk into the lunch room when everybody was eating and stand facing the wall. I felt so bad for him.

Gotta go...talk later!

Okay, Sara, I just read your post. I do agree with #2, and I think that is fantastic and I know teachers like that. My daughter had a teacher like that last year and I loved her. But I also love her teacher this year and she is much more strict. She is the teacher who is hard on you, but you come back years later and you thank her for not letting you get away with anything and for pushing you to be your best.
Do you believe in using any negative reinforcement? Or teaching kids to take personal responsibility for bad behavior? I am not trying to launch an attack on you, but I can tell you that I didn't feel humiliated when I had to stand on the wall. I got in trouble for busting ketchup packets at lunch. If the teacher woule have stood next to me while I was doing it, I would have waited until she turned her back and started busting them again. I can tell you that because I lost something that I liked, I didn't do that again. I didn't feel humiliated because I knew that I deserved it. I couldn't imagine a world where there aren't any consequences for your actions, and I don't even want to think about it. What would keep us from doing whatever we wanted if we never got in trouble?

Missy

Just remember the punishment must fit the crime. If I ever caught somebody busting ketchup packets, he or she would have to clean up their mess and no longer allowed to use ketchup. I would personally give that child ketchup on their tray. Then, I would end it at that.

Oh, one more thing, then I have to go!!!

My mother is an early childhood spec ed teacher with a classroom full of behavior problems. She shares the same views as I do.

My father is retired from a correctional facility where he worked as a pyschologist. He shares the same views as I do.

I think if people took a step back and took responsibility for their actions, they would be more aware of problems. I suppose this would be like a "hands-on" approach to learning, which has been found to be very effective.

When I took this class on behavior management, most of the people in the room had the same ideas and thoughts as you do, Missy. But, by the end of the class, everybody had changed their opinions. The teacher should not stand in front of the classroom and say you have to earn my respect. The respect should be there no matter what.

If anybody needs more info, I would suggest doing a google search on taking recess away and proximity control. It might help you understand what I am trying to say......

Talk Later!

I don't see it as a scare tactic, Sara, I really don't. When you disobey/disrespect/disrupt/act selfishly, the effect of it isn't supposed to feel good. Children aren't adults and don't reason the way adults do, and they will never be great adults if we don't offer consequences and rewards.

Spanking is a very personal thing, and I don't want anyone else to do it to my child, even at school. I thought you meant outlawed as in NOBODY is allowed to spank, even their own kid.

Again, another post that took forever because of my cuddly kid! He just started this, and I hope that it lasts for a while. He is so smooshy! :D

Missy

That is what I have been saying.

I never said that, not once. The only way to teach children is to lead children, and they won't learn how to respect and love if we first don't give it. I never said that anyone had to earn anything from a teacher or for a teacher.

Missy

Hi Girls.

You are chatty today!!!
I made it through one of the Imax extreme workouts and I just finished GS Legs.I think thats enough now.I really didn't want tp workout though.
I am going to get ready for the day, get all showered and prettied up:+ I have somethings to do.Crap things of course, like picking up dog food...light bulbs...you get the pic:)
Lori:)

Lori,

Sounds like you have such a glamourous life..picking up dog food, light bulbs! LOL!:p I just finished taking pictures of my tops I will list this week. My DD dress is so small, it would barely fit over the mannequin. I have left that mannequin standing near the entrance way for about 2 weeks now. I wonder if it excites all the guest? LOL!

Well now onto coremax 2 and squats. I think I might be able to go up just alittle more for squats as it is not quite as hard so I will add another 5 pounds...making it 150! I am going to do 5 sets of 8's, 3 sets I will do 150 and then the last two, I will bring the weight down to 100 and try to hit my butt close to the floor. ooh la la!!!!

BYE!

Charlotte~~

O.k., I am done squatting now. Everytime I get done with one set, I feel dizzy even though I am breathing the entire time. So I just grab my water and do the next set. It gives me a rush though knowing I can do it and I did do it. I just want to conquer more. The extra 5 pounds was not as bad as I thought so I will want more when I feel I am really ready for it.

Charlotte~~

Alright, I didn't say what I was going to be doing today. :+ In the training plan, I have a 3.5m run and then I am going to do some leg strengthening exercises and core. Core max or.... hmmm. I think I will pull something old out. and Lori! I ran while watching A Knight's Tale on Sunday and the time just flew! It didn't feel like 6 miles at all! It was great! Now I think that I am going to be spoiled for when I run outside, though I do LOVE to run outside! I don't think that it will be that much harder, do you?

Charlotte, why are you dizzy, babe? Don't faint on us! I don't like giving CPR to my same sex, no matter how much I love you. ew. :p

Sara, I am looking up proximity control now. I just found a bunch of computer type stuff and one script for Law and Order SVU... is there a more narrow search? ETA are these websites anything like what you are trying to describe?: http://www.behavioradvisor.com/AssertiveDiscipline.html http://www.behavioradvisor.com/OppositionGames.html That is all that came up on the first two pages of the search.

Missy

Missy,

LOL! Squatting is always tough. More weight, more spells! LOL! Don't worry, wouldn't want your lips touching mine either! EW back to ya!!!! LOL! I still uv you, just not like that or that much! LOL!

Charlotte~~

Hi girls.

It's a quick one for me today. Did 45 mins on the rebounder not including w/u and c/d plus GS legs floor and ctx chest work. Will do abs later....might even throw in more chest work like I originally wanted to but I ran out of time.:-(

I see that Missy and Sara are having a friendly debate? I sure HOPE it's friendly!:+ :+ :+

Have a great day everyone!:)
