Good Morning Girls:)

Im just getting off of work and heading to bed.I have one load of laundry in the wash and I wanted to put another one in before I hit the sack..but I may just crawl in anyway.
I am hoping to workout when I get up and then I have a few things to do up town that didn't get done yesterday.I also took a turkey out of the freezer to cook today. Not to eat but to have for sandwiches:) With all the parents and in-laws around I didn't have to cook much the last couple of weeks.
Pamela- I saw your post on the other thread.Does it get easier? I guess so ,I am still waiting for that day to kick in! We have it pretty good.DD is not alot of work but right now I am just trying to drill some good qualities into her.She use to be careful about what she said to people as well but lately it seems as if she is capable of blurting things out! And I don't like people like that so I don't want my daugther like it.I guess it will get easier when she is married and on her own! LOL But then I will be an old lady and want her back in my house...so once again...we are never happy!

Must get to bed, chat with you in a couple of hours,
Lori:)

Hey Girls!

Lori,

I was thinking about my own DD last night. I don't know what has happened with her. How did she get from point A to point B in just a short time? I have been disappointed in her, but I think she is coming around. Time will tell the truth. I have been discouraging her from hanging around the wrong kinds of people. When she left the house without my knowledge, I called around to see who knew anything...that is when I found out who her real friends were. I could not believe how uncaring some of her "friends" seemed. We all want the best for our children. She will be 18 this year and plans to leave when she turns 18. I told her she better have alot of money saved before she just takes off. I bet her "plans" will change again when she turns 18...she will realize it is not that easy just to take off without enough money, plans and preparation.

Anyhow, still battling this dang cold. LOL! I am still going thru with the workout as best I can. I don't think I am going to the doctor's as I don't have a fever, etc.

Hope everyone has a great day! I feel so bad for those West Virginia families who lost loved ones in the mine. I am really not that far away from where that happened.

Charlotte~~

Hi Girls,

Charlotte- I hope your DD comes around soon.It must be the kids she is hanging out with b/c I THINK that if she were going to go through this werid period it would have happened when she was 14 or 15. Thats usually when they have their attitude problems but at 18 they normally are more mature and level headed. You never know with kids. One day they can be one way and the next...totally different again.I for one am not looking forward to the teenage years.I was hoping that we wouldn't have many problem with her b/c we are young but no matter how young you are, your kids still think that you are old.Its not till she is 18 and I am 35 that she will understand how young I am.
I heard about the West Virginia people earlier today.I don't watch the news much b/c it is to depressing. Why don't they ever have any good news on there? Just a little bit.I hate listening to it.Instead I watched jerry springer, fell asleep and dreamed DH was cheating on me.How ironic is that?:)
Must go put the turkey in the over, get Dh some lunch and do some more laundry;(
Lori:)

Lori,

Jerry Springer and DH cheating on you? Oh my! WAKE UP, GIRL!!!!!! What a friggin' nightmare!!! LOL! I cannot watch Jerry Springer, Montel, Maury and some of the others. The shows just depress me during the first minute or so so I don't bother to watch...kind of like the news like you said. I do watch Oprah once in awhile. I like Dr. Joy Browne too on ocassion. Mostly just leave a music channel on during the day. Isn't the Biggest Loser on again tonight?

I can't imagine going through what you are going through charotte. I have a 20 year girl in college and a soon to be 18 year old son and a brand spanking new 16 year old girl. My kids are typical teens but Im very lucky. They are also very good kids. I bug the crap out of my 16 year old -- told her get use to it. I really think she likes it though because like you said there are allot of parents out there who just dont care or have no clue. Even though they claim to be so wise at the age of 16 -- I think they like to have some rules and guide lines to follow. My daughter did say to me the other night-- her gf was shocked to hear she could talk to me about some things that bother her. Her gf said her mom would never listen. Isnt that sad? Good luck girl if you need to vent -- feel free to IM me.

Kath,

So nice to hear from you!!!! What bothers me today is that alot of parents simply just don't care? Why did they have children then???? Do they just reach a certain age and you just let them live the way they want? Give them a car and a cell phone and tell them to have fun? One of the parents I called when DD was missing that day, told me they did not want me harrassing them with having the police at their house and me calling them asking if my DD was over there...WTH????? These parents did not even know where their own DD was when I asked, or at least that is what they told me. That is just awful to be like that and not care either way. The boy that picked DD up that night from our house is in jail now. We pressed charges and it is just too bad we couldn't press more charges against the others who just happen to be saved because they were under age. I think DD would have been just fine if she wasn't hanging around the wrong few that swayed her in this direction. And you think you know her friends cuz they tell you what parents want to hear and then the friends put on this "holy than holier" show so you feel fine with them until something bad happens. Thanks for listening.

Charlotte~~

Hang in there. Maybe when she will see the light -- knowing you are right there and not walking away will mean something. She may be just trying to figure out things and maybe she is *caught up* but knowing mom isnt going to *wash* her hands of the situation will help her allot. Hey we all were teens once right? Even tho our kids think not :)

Charlotte- I don't watch a whole lot of t.v either. But I had a snooze at work and when I woke up I turned on Jerry Springer! at 5;30 in the morning.Talk about wanting to make me throw up!:p what a crazy show.I wonder if these people are real but I am willing to bet that there are enough disturbed people in the world to keep that sho in guest. And if nothing else, they probably like to be on t.v.
I agree with you regarding some parents not caring about their kids.I don't see a whole lot of it yet b/c my daughter is only 9.When I worked at the beauty salon, my boss had pretty much wiped her hands clean of her son. When I started there he was only 13-14 yrs old and she use to leave him alone on weekends. The kid didn't have any discipline. Then it got to the point where he was stealing from his own mother. She would notice money missing and I think she blamed her staff first...low and behold...it was her darling son.Last I heard he is 20 and just got fired from his job at KFC!x( Still living home and I guess his mother his still handing him money when she isn't to busy playing the slot machines.Talk about your screwed up family.
Anyway...must go get some bills paid so I can get back and get my workout done.
Lori:)

First of all I just have to say you all look WAY TOO YOUNG to have kids the ages you do!!!

I wish I had some wise words, but since I don't have kids, I don't have any wise words. But what I will say is for both Lori and Charlotte to keep hounding your kids. Don't give up. Bug the heck out of them and know what they're doing. I would have LOVED that - in the long run, of course. :)

You both sound like very caring moms - at very different stages with your girls - and I'm sure that will pay off for both of you.

Thanks all of you for all your encouragement! Thanks for the nice compliment too, Susan! I need a burst of sunshine just right about now! I am feeling all wishy washy today for some reason...maybe lack of the real sun???? Missing DH who travels frequently.

O.k., now off to do my workout. Speck is waiting for me. I know she wants to get out for that 5 min brisk walk which is the first thing I will do.

Charlotte~~

Charlotte,

I bet it's just because you're not feeling well. That just takes a toll on your body and also on your emotions - for me anyway. And then having DD issues and no DH around just compounds it all. When I'm sick, everything seems so much worse to me. :)

I do hope you are back to 100% soon and that you're back to your cheery self. I bet your workout will help a bit too!

Susan,

You are right! The workouts always seem to help too. Makes me feel good about myself and then I am not as cranky. Now off for that walk~

Charlotte~~

Im sure you are feeling the way you are due to the cold--- you probably caught it being so worried about other things--- but us mom's dont get sick right? Well not till our body's say *Stop* :) And lets face it you feel the way you do Charlotte cause you are a great mom--

Take time for you--geesh listen to me-- always giving great advice. Maybe I should follow it too huh? :)

Thanks Susan! Im gonna keep hounding her till her ears fall off:) She is starting to get a bit more girly now which is nice b/c she was a state for a while. Her hair was all over the place and she didn't care.I thought I was gonna have a hobo on my hands but she seems to be comming back to life. She is also starting to develop which is to soon in my eyes.Only a couple more ears and the pms will start! Oh dear!x(

Charlotte- You don't have your workout done yet? Whats taking you so long? Just joking! I am still here in my jeans and I am running out of time.I had 4 loans of laundry to do and bed sheets to change so I did all that stuff first. Now when DD gets home from school I am going to make her clean out her dresser with me.I know there are way to many pairs of socks in there that doesn't fit her anymore so before I put the new stuff in, I want to old stuff out.So I guess my workout will be after dinner now.
Lori:)

I just got back from my 5 min brisk walk/run....(puts a thumb in each ear and waves the rest of the hand, sticking out tongue and saying na na na na na) LOL!

Now off to walking lunges....la, la, la, la, la!!!!! LOL!

Charlotte~~

LOL! What???? Ya'll drinking something I don't know about???? Some Jack Daniels or something? I think somebody is tripping and it is not me this time. Oh, no it is not!!! I am feeling better now. Just finished the 400 jumping jacks and 8 sets of pushups. Working on walking lunges. Guess I decided to save them for last cuz they are the hardest. Did my jumping jacks in sets of 100 this time cuz I DON'T FEEL WELL YET!!!!! Even though ((((no one))))) seems to believe me now cuz they are drinking jack or something. So I got a picture just for you, Ms. Lori. Check out my "ALBUM" file. You will know it when you see it. Hmmmmm! LOL!

Charlotte~~
