Moisturizer & sunscreen

Hi Laura

I don't want to confuse you even more but I heard that having a moisturiser with sunscreen isn't that effective, basically because of the amount you're putting on. Now, obviously, if you've got dry skin you're probably putting more on but the problem is that people generally don't put enough sunscreen on anyway (thus the need for higher factors, 20 max would be fine if people put enough on). So, it's unlikely that you'd put as much moisturiser on as you would sunscreen, hence it's better to have two separate products: a moisturiser that you apply to the parts of your face that you want moisture and a sunscreen that you apply liberally all over your face.

Now, I did get some of this info from a company justifying not putting sunscreen in its products but it does make sense. Also, in anti-ageing moisturisers, the active ingredient is often just sunscreen. Just by making something factor 15 or whatever they can call it anti-ageing as the sun is a factor in ageing.

Happy hunting!

WHAT???? I just had my 2nd carcinoma in 6 mos removed. I should be spending some time in the sun to prevent this?

I am so confused!

What we know about skin cancer in the US, that it is soooooo common and dangerous is based on clever marketing strategies of body lotion manufacturers. I found one article about sun and cancer but there are many more out there if you scan the medical journals.

Skin cancer is not quite as easy as staying out of the sun. The toxins (aka sunscreens, lotions, formaldehyde on new clothes, air polition, nutrition, etc.) in our environment play a bigger role than the sun, who by the way is the creator and sustainer of all life. If you make a a google search of sun and cancer, 99 % of the hit are just clever product sites, trying to sell their stuff. The danger of the sun is way overrated.
