MIS vs Power Hour

I had MIS on tap for today and was just short of enough time to fit it in, so i did power hour instead. today would have been the first time i've done MIS, so i don't know how much it differs from PH. are they able to be subbed for each other?

You know--I would personally probably always reach for Power Hour. I find Cathe's style in MIS to be more stiff--I think her personality was stiffer back in the earlier days of her strength training vids. I find the music to be almost nonexistent and uninspiring, and --this is shallow-- her hair and clothing also bugs me. It's just kinda boring. But it is a solid whole body workout.

When I think of MIS, I think of a textbook. A strength training textbook, for the whole body.

But Power Hour! Brighter! More fun music! Those killer static lunges! More like a glossy fitness magazine!

Hope that helps and isn't too stupid,

Gisela

I've done them interchangeably. They seem to complement each other in that the exercises are different (if not in type, then in sequencing). Both are good for gaining muscle endurance, although in my case, I gained muscle as well because I started doing them when I was new to lifting.

I think MIS is a longer, more intense version of PH. If you are short on time, you cetainly use PH and even up the weights a bit in some spots. Short does not mean wimpy ;) Personally, I love, love MIS. It is one of my fave endurance, full body workouts.

I think they are very similar in that they are both total body weight workouts with which you can use heavier weights. My opinion is that they certainly are interchangeable. I'm confused though - I remember them both being 60 minutes.

MIS is older, I think, but a good workout. It has the rhythem changes but uses a more traditional counting approach (ie "3 down, 1 up"). PH has the traditional counts but also has more of the "low ends" and "fancy" moves.

These are my thoughts on MIS and Power Hour.

Power Hour is set to 10 songs and each song works a muscle part. It combines strength plus endurance for me. Cathe does not use such heavy weights as she does in Maximum Intensity Strength.

Personally, I prefer Power Hour to MIS, but it is a tough call....
