Mini Step Question...

Cathlete
If I am 5'9" and have six risers, is this adequate? I noticed when I used it for the first time that you, Cathe, have six as well. I must say it was plenty difficult! My husband assures me that height does not matter that much (i.e. leg length will not necessarily be as different as you might expect). What are your thoughts?

Size does matter!!!!!!!

You need to make sure that your leg is on an 90 Degree angle when doing step-ups.

I am 5ft 10 and use seven risers with my ministep and it puts me at an 16 inch step height. I was used to 17" (old FIRM wooden step) and I am thinking about buying another riser.

I must say, I have loooong legs and my knees never bother me. Put one foot on the step and see what the angle is if you don't make the 90 Degrees you might end up hurting your knees in the long run.

I hope, this helps.

Cathe uses 6 risers just on Muscle Endurance and I wonder why. She is only 5'2". I'm 5'5" and 14 inches (total) work for me although I use 16 inches like Cathe does on Muscle Endurance when I do that video. If you are new to tall step leg presses you should start with 12 inches (that's 4 risers and the top) and work your way up as it gets easier. Your goal is to have your leg form a 90 degree angle relative to the floor when you have your foot on the step. If it goes further than that you could hurt yourself and if you've had problems with your knees that 90 degree angle can also hurt you. If that is the case, don't use a lot of risers and try to keep it at 14 inches. Also when you're stepping down try to keep your bodyweight on the leg that is on the step and not on the foot that is touching the floor. That is pretty hard to master, but you will get it with practice. Also try to start with no weight and work your way up. I hope this helps.
