Mindy videos?

I am hearing the siren call of Mindy Mylrea while I wait for Cathe's new videos. Has anyone done any of these? How do they compare to, say, IMAX or Intense Moves? I understand the production isn't great, but if the workout is good that's fine with me. I am in my "kill me with intervals" phase so I would really like something that is intense, yet not too tricky. I like Cathe's strength, so I am really only interested in some new intense cardio to break through a plateau. Thanks! Rose

Hi,
I'd pass on Interval Express, if only because I think, although the choreography is billed as 'easy', it is all the more difficult because Mindy doesn't always cue in a way that makes sense to me. I traded this tape because just getting through the warm up for me, based on the choreography alone (it wasn't the intensity that threw me - well, any more than I expected, anyway :) ) I had done the whole tape through before a few times, so I did give it a chance.
Slammin Sports Cardio is pretty easy choreographically, it's sports-drill-type moves. The production quality is CIA so it's okay, nothing fabulous.
Don't have the other two.
Have you tried mindy before?

I have Slammin' Sports Cardio. I also have Sport Step and one of her kickboxing videos. I really like Slammin' Sports Cardio! It's a pretty tough workout, but her cueing doesn't come close to Cathe's. It'll do, though. Sport Step is a fairly decent workout. Hope that helps.

Hi!
I have the three Mindy's exercises you mentioned. I liked them very much. As far as the intensity goes, none of them are as intense as Imax. I would say in the scale of 1-10 if Imax is about a nine, they are around 7 or if you put more into it may be 8. For me they are like intense move. I was in need of some variety, so I am happy I got these tapes. They are fun! The cueing, like others said, is not so hot, but she doesn't do much tricky things, one can pretty much predict.
You can always check videofitness.com too. They have many posts about these tapes, which helped me to decide.
Hope this helps some!

Great workouts!

I have Ultimate Boot Camp Challenge w/ Mindy. This isn't a high quality production/set, but the workout is good. She has you do sports/boot camp type intervals, meaning they're simple, yet intense moves. You do a few strength moves I think, like push-ups and lunges. If I remember correctly, you need a lot of room for this tape.

I also have CIA 2101 (extreme intervals). This is great! There's about 30mins of step intervals, which go by fast and are tough. Then there's 23mins of hi/lo, which is also fun. I usually just do 1 of the cardios since there's a 44min Pump Party section, which is like Bodypump. That's really good too. I really like this video, and the production/set is better.

So I'd get 2101 if any because you get 2 short, but good cardios and a solid weights section. Mindy's a fun instructor, so time doesn't drag. Helen Vanderburg also has some good tapes from CIA. RAW: Real Atletic Workout is good.

RE: Great workouts!

I tried Mindy's Extreme Intervals/Pump Party and though it was fun and easy to follow I never felt like I worked as hard as I do with Cathe. I'm one that feels I didn't have a good workout if I'm not dripping with sweat and feel like I just got my butt kicked!! I've been trying some Christi Taylor tapes while waiting for the new Cathe's. They are choreographically more challenging for a clutz like me, but I've really enjoyed the intensity and fast pace. I find no matter what I buy, or who I try, I always end up with Cathe's workouts because they really do the job, and she always makes me laugh!
Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

RE: Great workouts!

I love Mindy Mylrea. I traded Action Packed and BootCamp Challenge, but kept Intense Moves, Extreme Intervals and Slammin' Sports Cardio.

My favorites are Intense Moves and Extreme Intervals. Both are FUN!!!! I agree that intensity wise, they might be lower by a notch. Still, by the time it's over, I'm sweatin' like crazy, and I have a really stupid grin on my face. Mindy is a scream.

RE: Great workouts!

Ya know, I used to crave that "hit with a sledge hammer" feeling after a workout, but I came to my senses and realized that I don't have to feel half dead to experience a good workout. It's for that reason that I lowered my step to 6" or even 4", and accept a Mindy tape as a good workout.

I may be wrong, but I think that incorporating other workouts into your schedule can counteract burnout. I used to go only six weeks exercising before I needed a week off, but since I lowered my expectations I can go 9 weeks, and I have NOT gained weight or lost muscle or anything like that.

I like Mindy's tapes (I have only 2, Extreme Intervals, which I really like, and Slammin' Sports, which I need to drag out and do again real soon) because they are more athletic. I'm looking forward to Cathe's new stuff because they look like they may be more athletic, too.

Just my opinion for what it's worth - the price of a cup of coffee in a cheap diner.

I love Mindy except I sometimes can't handle the chatter.I have many and my favourites are Boot Camp.Slammin Sports and extreme intervals/pump party.I find them as intense as Cathe. You have to really push yourself doing the sport moves and you can push yourself harder than a reg step video.I think my body became accustomed to Cathe videos such as Imax and Circuit max etc because I did Extreme Interval yesterday and I found it to be the toughest video I have done recently.

I tried interval express, strength express, slammin sports and action packed and didn't really like any of them. Cathe is much better in my opinion. Mindy's cueing is terrible. It is so frustrating to me.

Good luck!

I love Mindy! I have a whole bunch of her tapes. I love Slammin Sports Cardio and Extreme Intervals. I am actually going to confess that I like Interval Express better than IMAX. Not because it is easier, but it so much fun to do! But nothing can truly compare to IMAX intensity wise. Mindys workouts are athletic and easy to do! As everyone said, her cueing isn't the best, but I think these three workouts are must haves!

I've been doing Extreme Intervals, so I thought I'd drag out Slammin' Sports, and Brother! Her cuing stinks on this one! I took it out after about 15 minutes and popped in Extreme Intervals. It was extremely hard to follow because of her cuing.
