Migraines

Christina:
You have been such a source of information and support to me...you have no idea, I'm sure! Thank you so very much...

The checkin at the firm is wonderful, to know that other people know EXACTLY how you feel, and the frustration of when things "aren't going well". Truly a God-send.

I'm also going to check out the "ibdsucks" website.

I too stopped posting on the checkin here because I can barely get through a yoga workout now, let alone a Cathe workout. So I've been "laying low"...

Thanks again for all your guidance with my problems.

Terri -

I'm so glad that I could help. I was diagnosed with UC when I was 17 in 1987 and for years I didn't know anyone else with UC or Crohn's and I felt very isolated. For a long time, I was really in denial about the fact that I would have this for the rest of my life and tried to hide my symptoms from everyone except my family. I still don't necessarily like people to know I have UC but I am much more comfortable with the fact that I have it and just have to figure out ways to deal with it now.

Feel free to email me anytime: [email protected].

I hope you visit with the gastro goes well. My dr is really good about not doing a scope everytime I have a flare. His concern is more about how I am feeling and quality of life. I just have to have the scopes for cancer screening because of the increased cancer risk.

Hi Wanda and all.
Not really offering a solution, just relate to this thread. I started getting migraines when I was 8 living back east. My whole family has them. Long story short, I have determined my most causal trigger is airborn allergens; followed by barometric pressure, food allergens, my menstrual cyle (the week before), and stress. I also grind my teeth; my allergist thinks it is all related and I do have a deviated septum, but am not ready to try surgey.
I suffer horribly in lush, green environments. The more triggers present, the more likely a migraine. Here in Nevada I have done very well. I only get 5 or so a year. In California, I got maybe 2 a month lasting 24-36 hours. Back east, I got them every single week all spring and summer.
I have tried everything, and found that finding out what my allergies are and controlling them as much as possible helps trememdously. I take an extra dose of magnesium, and avoid processed foods. Be very wary of fake sugar supplements.
Right now, believe it or not, Excedrin works just as well for me as most of the Rx stuff provided I catch an aura, which is 99% of the time. Once I have the headache (if I wake up with it) Imitrex has been the only thing that works.
Hand in there, and please keep us posted. I would be very interested in your results. :)
