Microsoft word question

I know, I'm a techno idiot. :(

I took an old RFP & changed & expanded it significantly. Somehow stupid Word was in "track changes" mode so I had to do the whole right click, accept changes, blah blah blah.

I still have 2 sentences & 2 words (in the title) showing in red & underlined. It won't let me change the font color or take the underlining off. Please help me!

Techno idiot??

I don't even know WTH you are talking about:eek: What does that make me?

Sorry I couldn't be of any help;)

Laura - At the Top of your Word "window" click on "View" - "Toolbars" - "Reviewing". This should bring up the Reviewing toolbar (it will just automatically add the toolbar at the top of the page). There will be a little icon with a "check" on it. Click that. That "should" make the document accept all of the changes and look normal.

That should work.

Well crap, I didn't know I could do that! I even asked our IT guy & he said I had to accept each change individually...........

Anyway, it didn't work. Still 2 red words & 2 underlined sentences. What the fudge?

So, you've accepted the changes and its still red and underlined? Hmm...after accepting the changes, can you now edit the line?

NO! I just don't get it.......I highlighted the red/underlined stuff, I clicked on "auto" in the font color menu, & it's still flippin red! And when I highlight the sentences, the underline button isn't even on, so it seems to be some kind of stupid formatting problem.

I wonder if I copy & paste it into another doc whether I can change it? I'm gonna give that a shot & see what happens. Crap!

When you clicked on the check, did it bring down a drop down menu with the option to "accept all changes"? If not, somethings wrong. You should be able to accept all changes in one swoop. I find the whole reviewing module of Word to be VERY buggy though. I hate when people use it! I sometimes end up retyping everything in a separate document.

You can't change it that way. You have to go through the review tool bar and accept the changes. It will not let you change the font color manually.

Amber Liann, it worked! :) I just pasted it into a new doc & it looks perfect. OK that was totally freaky & bizarre, but much easier to solve than we all thought! :p

For the future, you can uncheck "highlight changes" (under Tools, Track Changes) or did you do that and it didn't work?

I will have to remember the copy and paste for the future. Thanks to all for posting.

I'm working on editing a translated doc and the Table of Contents is all messed up. Taking a friggin' week to try to fix without starting 3 full pages from scratch. Think I need an advanced Word class !
