MIC Revisted!!!!!

Wow, it always amazes me when I shelve a Cathe tape for awhile thinking it wasn't too tough. I reached for MIC this morning and boy oh boy, was I ever sucking air by the time I finished!!!!! The general consensus seems to be IM and CM are the toughest. I think MIC has got to top them. Anyone agree??:7

MIC has my vote for the toughest Cathe workout!
I find Body Max (the whole workout) to be really difficult as well.

I find MIC and Circuit Max the toughest -- I barely can make it through the hi/lo section on MIC and sometimes cannot even make it through at all. I can do BodyMax all the way through, but these two are just killers to me, so I really completely agree with you on that one.

Funny this post should pop now - I did the hi/lo segment from MIC just last night (then the interval segment from Step&Intervals). IMHO, what makes MIC hard is the duration more than the intensity level during the workout, AND for me at least the high-impact fast paced quality of the first segment after years of stepping and aqua.

However, it is indeed a workout to be reckoned with! I do love the flying airborne jumps, high-knee run intervals and plyo heel digs in the first segment, and I think I love the choreography of the step segment the most of all Cathe's step workouts that I have.

You are brave to revisit MIC. I have been able to get through it a few times, but it never gets any easier and WOW it's a tough workout. I'd have to agree it definitely one of Cathe's hardest, but what a wonderful feeling when you actually get through, huh!?!?!

You're right, Marcia, it is a great feeling to finish MIC!! I think I'll punish myself further and unshelve MIS today!!:-wow

So hard and so relentless. I think it's harder than IMax and CircuitMax, because you never get even the teensiest break and it is so long!

I love MIC because it is great intensity in a short amount of time. You can really gauge your increased fitness level by doing this workout. I used to die after 5 plyos but now I endure. It is still hard toward the end but what a feeling of satisfaction when it is over! I must say that I only do the hi/lo portion. I am not ready to tack on the step aerobics portion directly after hi/lo.

I agree! I am continually floored at how tough this tape is! MIC was in a rotation I did awhile back. Some weeks, I did the step segment on a 6" step, some weeks 8". Some weeks I took a longer break in between the hi/lo and step portions than other weeks, but I always liked the challenge of trying to face the beast week to week in hopes of finishing the entire tape. After the hi/lo is done, I think, 'No way! I just did all of those plyos and high jogs, no way!' But then I remember the great music and the energy Cathe puts forth in the step segment and I keep going. But man, is it HARD! Congrats to anyone who's copy of MIC isn't dusty!

Does anyone here modify some of the high impact in MIC???

I find as I'm getting a wee bit older (mid-40's) that high impact and my knees are not liking one another. So while I happen to love this workout, I also know that my knees will not be happy the next day.

So, just curious if anyone of you modify parts of the hi/lo section to provide less impact....

One the one hand, I always think of CM as the toughest workout. I make it to the end, thank goodness, but it is very challenging.
But on the other hand, MIC, while it is also challenging, in my mind I don't consider it tougher than CM, I guess I consider it easier in the way that it involves less thought processes, because it is pretty easy choreographically, once you learn it (but not at all easy intensity-wise)!. Verdict: I have yet to make it to the end of MIC! So, in that sense, it takes the cake!
