Memorial Weekend Plans?

Does anyone (in U.S.) have special plans for this upcoming 3-day Memorial weekend? (Or special weekend plans for anyone in other countries for that matter!) Me and my bf are taking all the kids (4 girls total) and a dog up north to his hunting cabin in Northern Wisconsin. Not sure how it's going to turn out - the kids probably won't be spending much time in the woods because of ticks, and bears coming out of hibernation with new cubs. I'm worried the kids will get "cabin fever" (literally - haha) so I'm planning on bringing lots of games, videos and books. Hope the weather will at least cooperate.

Anyone else getting away for the weekend?

We are staying home. Going to have a cookout and invite some friends over for the day.

Have fun at your cabin in Wisconsin. We are going to the Dells in August for some water fun.
 
My husband and I are driving to the summer camp that we met at 7 years ago. We worked their for 3 summers together. We met on Memorial Day in 1998, then started dating that summer and haven't been apart since! The camp is in Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park (south of Yosemite, less well known but just as beautiful) and they have a Work Weekend each Memorial Day to open camp up for the summer. It's dirty, cold, and a ton of work but we love it! Sleep outside and everything.

I'm opening up our shore house on Friday. I have a bunch of people coming in & out for the long w/e, & I took Friday & Tuesday off really hoping for a little beach time, but the way the weather's been I'm thinking I might end up coming to work on Tuesday after all. Where oh where is summer? x(

Just curious where you are going? I am from Kenosha, Wisconsin and as I a kid we used to go to Eagle River or Pine Lake for summer vacations. We rented cabins in both places. I had a great times feeding the deer peanut butter and watching them lick it off the roof of their mouths. Unfortunately, we arent going anywhere until June 1st. Enjoy, your vacation!

Well, my birthday is on Memorial Day this year (it's always nice when that happens, 'cause I get my birthday off of work!). We are visiting my in-laws for the weekend. Looking forward to it - I haven't been down there to visit them in over a year. MIL is going to go overboard for my birthday, I feel it in my bones. But if I get a few new Cathe DVDs out of it, then I guess it's alright with me! ;)
 
Emily - It's rare when someone is looking FORWARD to visiting their in-laws!! lol! I hope MIL spoils you rotten! Happy early birthday!!

Maximus - I can't ever remember a Memorial Day weekend with decent weather. It always rains or is unseasonably cold.

Suzanne - I live a hop, skip, and a jump away from Kenosha. We are driving 5 hours from bf's house in Janesville to Superior, which is just across the border from Minnesota. :eek:

I'm going camping...it's an annual tradition w/a group of friends. This year it seems to have grown wildly (26 of us!!!) so it should be lots of fun. It's "supposed" to start clearing up and hit the 80's for the weekend over there so my fingers are crossed. Even though this is only a 4 day work week, I have a feeling it's going to just c-r-a-w-l by because I'm excited for it.

Just hang out and take it easy with my husband and son! Honestly, we're always traveling to see family on holidays, so it's nice to just kick back and chill a bit. Maybe we'll go to the park or something with Aiden.

No big gey away planned but I am going sunday to watch my 24 year old son and his friend do their first sky dive. It will be a tandom jump since they have no class time in to do solo. I think it will be fun to watch!. They both are a little nervous and I am getting a kick out of it. They asked me to jump too and I said NO WAY! I am afraid of heights :) I have bets on who will chicken out :)

No set plans. I'm just hoping the sun will be out by then and it will be over 50 degrees!

Angie - Thanks so much! You're sweet. We fell in love with the name rather quickly. His name is Aiden Mackenzie. Aiden means "fiery one" and Mackenzie means "son of a handsome one". Hehehe...we didn't pick it b/c of that but my hubby sure likes it!

My husand and son are going to the Coca Cola 600. So me and my daughter are going shopping on saturday, then have supper and go to a movie. We rarely get mother and daughter times together.

It's my birthday this weekend, too. Am taking off starting Thursday, and we're going to get some culture for once. ;) Sketchy plans that hopefully we will actually do instead of sitting around the house, chatting here, include: going to an open rehearsal of the NY Philharmonic; go see some ships at Fleet Week; see Star Wars; renew my pool membership and go swimming; buy my birthday present (heart rate monitor--I'm so psyched!).
