^ ^ MELTING on a Wonderful Thursday! ^ ^

Hey ladies,

So I finally finished up the last of my Trader Joe's Greek yogurt . . . and I think I'm FINALLY going to try out my new yogurt maker today! Hooray! It actually looks to be a bit more complicated than I thought it would be, but I'm going to think about it as a sort of science experiment.

If it doesn't turn out, maybe I can feed it to the BIL. J/K, of course! ;-)

Oh dear god. I am gonna complain. This is the very reason I hate the gym.
So today, there was a ton of people in a very small gym. Here I am trying to superset exercises while people are butting in and using my machines,I know, I know, its not my gym, but I get irritated with folks who sort of "drift around" the gym, with no workout purpose, not paying attention to what others are using.

Then of course I try to be gracious and let them use the machine first even though its totally ruining my own focused workout. And they have the nerve to be nasty about it! Crap.

When I get old, I really want to be a nice old lady, not a mean, nasty one. Alot of people in this gym are older, seniors if you will. They are mean and nasty, I do not know why, they want to volume down on all the TV's, there isn't music in this gym, so its as quiet as a morgue in there...sheesh. I tried to turn up the television slightly, and this old man came over and told me "not to do that" it causes fights and upsets people. Huh? Whatever. I got my workout done, but boy do I miss my own at-home gym.

Hey Leanne, glad you got some extra Zzzzz's.:p Have fun with your yogurt maker...heehee. For some reason I think its funny you are making your own yogurt.:7

Ok, time to shower and go gather, yes, once again we are out of veggies and water. I will not buy DH any food this time...ha!}(

Good morning, Tneah, babe! I just got a huge smile on my face thinking about yesterday! It was sooooo wonderful to finally meet wonderful you in person! Sheesh -- that totally sucks about the gym today! What the heck did he mean about the TV causing fights?? I don't think any of us will ever be mean and crochety (sp?) when we're old. We're just all too dang sweet. ;-) Do you that if you go to the gym a bit earlier or later you might miss some of this crowd? It would suck to have to change around your workout schedule, but it might let you have more freedom . . . and keep your sanity! ;-) I know -- I think it's a riot that I'm gonna try to make my own yogurt. I have no idea where I got this silly idea. Just call me Heidi. ;-) Maybe I'll go live with the goats. Hmm . . . not sure if there are any in San Diego. Oh, and I wimped out on actually calling San Diego Fit . . . but I did email customer service to see if we could come try stuff on! That counts, right? Once I hear back, I'll let you know! That could be our fun outing for next week -- Mission: Workout Capris!

Oh, I think I hear the UPS truck . . . could be my Nike cargos in the right sizes! Hooray!

Hey again, Tneah! I just got this email back from SD Fit:

Thank you for your interest in SanDiegoFit.com, Inc. We do not have a physical store, but you are welcome to make an appointment and come to our office location in Sorrento Valley to pick up an order. If you are interested in coming in, please send us an email with any items (style number, size, color) you are interested in and we will pull them and have them available for you to pick it up. Our business hours are M-F from 8:30-4:30. Please let me know if you have any questions.

So let me know if you want to check it out next week and we can set up an appointment. The only days I couldn't do it next week are Monday and Wednesday (our anniversary!). I'm excited!!!

Mmmm, Texas Melt. Sounds like a yummy sandwich.

BG, good luck with Mr Trainerman. You have more fortitude than I.

Tneah, the trip to the gym sounds most annoying. Maybe if you went at a different time of the day, you could avoid the crabby old seniors who really don't get it. They probably thought you were just a young whippersnapper, there to show off. Do you have an MP3 player? Sounds like it needs to go to the gym with you next time.

Leanne, avoiding the cake hasn't been too hard, since it is in another room. Out of sight out of mind. Tomorrow will be harder. There is a graduation luncheon involving shrimp and prime rib. And I'm sure lots of goody desserts, my downfall.

Shannon, amen to no strip cardio workout. Or pole dancing for that matter. Ewwww.

Peggy, so sorry to hear about your dad. But at least he went quickly and peacefully. My dad had 8 months of pancreatic cancer. It wasn't pretty.

Kristi, I'm glad to hear your DH got a clean bill of health. I agree that honesty is important. I used to have a co-worker who loved to tell whoppers. Others didn't get why I didn't care much for him. If you can't trust someone with the small stuff, how can you trust them with the big stuff - right?

Shelley, sorry for your sad anniversary.

I can't believe the forums are still up! Maybe they've figured out a way to do what they need to do without shutting things down. Or maybe they'll wait for the weekend?!?

Yea, forums are still up! Boo, I have no time to play!

I have to paint the laundry room, but must first maneuver the washer and dryer out the too small door opening. Ick! Yes, the house is just as bad as I had remembered. x( However, I have found a stress-reliever! The Office! Do any of you watch it? I just discovered it and bought every season and can't get enough. Seriously! I have even placed The Office DVDs next to my workout ones. I *heart* them! Ok, enough corniness.

Shelley--(((((HUGS))))) Hang in there, girl. :)

Tneah and Leanne--You guys are super gorgeous! I am glad you had fun!

Lainie--Thanks again for setting up the alternate forum!

Shannon--I thought of you as Coach Sean tried to kill me on the elliptical this morning. Doesn't he know I was just on vacation??? }(

Kristi--That cake and frosting sounds super yummy! DH and I have been staying up much too late as well.

Deb--I hope Dh's surgery goes well. It sounds like the spitfire is keeping you busy! ;)

Robin--Hey there! How are you? Good job melting! Is DD's boyfriend still home?

Peggie--I hope you are feeling better! :)

BreckGirl--Good luck with the program! :)

Hi to Allie!

Well, I must paint. I did CC7 this morning and PLB. It was hard. I actually lost some weight on vacation and wish the RT was, like, now. We stayed in condos and had potlucks and most of the food was really bad for my cholesterol, so I refrained. Well, I did partake in my BIL's famous chocolate chip cookies...I was really impressed with some of my BILs openness to fitness and clean eating. It was so much fun to talk about health with a couple of people who were really interested! Anyway, I have some stories, but will get to them later. I really missed all of you!

One more thought--Are any of you familiar with the medication Crestoor? My cardiologist wants me to take it and I don't know what to do. I have heard so many horror stories about the muscle aches, etc. with these statins that they scare me.

Talk to you later ladies!

Kara :) OK, I went to post this and the forums were down, but they are up now???? Anyhoo, guess what??? I painted the laundry room with a high gloss white enamel paint instead of a white primer. Love, love, love painting...x(

Kara, your painting sounds like fun...uh, yeah.:7 CC7 kicks butt, then you did PUB?? You rock girl.

Cresor? Hum, nope, I have seen the commercials.

Leanne, er, "Heidi" yippee! Do we have to pick the stuff we would like to try on from the web site? Then email them and set up an appointment? Sounds great, next week, anytime, you name the day. Right now I do not forsee any problems,,the guys are down I think, but that doesn't mean I cannot get away.:7

I really need to go to the store. I am now wrestling with my hair in this wind and humidity, I have no clue how to style it (ponytail all the time is what I usually do)its driving me nutso. I long for my desert home with its drying, aging heat!:7 Not really. I would just like to have at least one good hair day down here.:p

Kara, if you are in to natural products, www.bioactivenutrients.com has a product called Cholesterol Control. The doctors had my mom on cholesterol medicine and I didn't want her liver to get blown out, so she talked to her doctor and tried this. Her doctor said it wouldn't help. Well, when she went back to her doctor about three months later (I think), her blood and cholesterol levels were all normal. No more prescriptions. I posted a few days ago about know the cause, and this company is one that that show recommends. We buy stuff from there all the time. The products are great and I know they are authentic.

Hey everyone. The furnace/ac guy was here to do the check and is just getting done. I is 1:45 p.m. He was supposed to be here this morning, so I didn't work out, wanting to wait until he got here. I love when #$%^ like that happens. Ever hear of being on time.

Tneah - I hate stuff like that at gyms too. I am lucky, when I go to the gym over lunch there are about 3 people in there total. It is very nice and they play good loud music from the satellite radio stations, and have TVs all over the place and on each machine, so I can watch Cathe on FitTV when I am on the cardio equipment. Very cool.

BBL everyone.

Good afternoon all...

Boy I sure am sorry that I have been the cloud of doom lately. I really appreciate that y'all haven't ditched me or given up on me.

Anyway, one of the girls on the OD posted some jewelry she's selling on Ebay and I loved the necklace, so empty bank account be damned, I bought it! I shouldn't have, probably, but dammit, I deserve something, don't I?

I'm sorry for not doing great personals (or any personals, really), but I hope you know that I'm thinking of you constantly:)

Hi, again,
Sometimes I get frustrated trying to email something to someone so that it's clear what I'm trying to communicate, and I just pick up the phone and call the person. I was trying to pick Leanne's brain on various, silly questions I have about Road Trip, and I got frustrated trying to set it out in an email, so I called her. We talked for about 50 minutes, and it was just lovely! Tneah, you are right that she is awesome -- so sweet and funny! And she gave me great advice on my questions.

I really love this group -- everyone is so supportive, helpful, funny, genuine! Thanks for letting me be part of it!

Shelley -- yea on the necklace. Sometimes retail therapy is the only way to go! I did a bit myself earlier today. I saw that thread on the OD, but I didn't look at the necklace. I'll go back and check it out if I can. I hope it made you feel a bitty bit better.
ETA: That necklace is really cool!

Tneah -- the gym can be so frustrating -- esp. the drifters! I agree that an iPod or something might help (but did you say recently that yours broke or did I dream that?)

Robin -- I really can't stand lying, and I just hate it when my DDs lie about something little b/c it makes me wonder what they'll do about the big stuff.

Kara -- I'm so glay you're back! My family LOVES "The Office"!!!!!!!!!!! DH and I watched the premiere episode when it originally aired and it was so uncomfortable (funny, but sort of in a realistic way), but we kept watching week after week. We own all the seasons, too. We rented the DVDs of the original English version. It's pretty entertaining, too. Yea on the painting; hope the rest of the house comes together soon! I don't know anything about Crestor, bu I understand your apprehension.

Peggie -- service people can really be frustrating. I had to have the cable guy yesterday b/c my cable was out. He didn't get here until after 7:00 p.m. then he discovered that a different cable guy had disconnected OUR cable when he came out to change our neighbor's cable! x( That's so funny that you watch Cathe on TV while you work out. That's how I preview new DVDs -- watch them while I'm on the elliptical. My family thinks that is real weird.

Did you see that the forums will be down tonight? Here's the link, I think. http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=2&topic_id=86634&mesg_id=86637#86637

Hello everyone. I’m still a bit tired but at least I managed to do my workout today. I’ve also managed to do more laundry and clean up a bit.

Today was the first time I did the Legs split from Slo-Mo. I have to say it might be the last time. I love Amy’s stuff, but this one was not right for me. I did appreciate two things about it: 1) I never had to sling a heavy barbell over my head and rest it on my sore shoulders, and 2) I never had to do leg presses up on the step (boy, I hate those). However, for the first half my back was killing me, and for the second half I just felt awkward and like I couldn’t get the form right. Lower body weights are my least favorite workout, anyway. I don’t think it was Amy, though; it was me. (That sounds like the “it’s not you, it’s me” breakup excuse.) My core (and the rest of me) is just too weak for the stuff she was doing. I’ve never claimed to be actually advanced, even though I like doing advanced workouts; I generally feel more intermediate, and Slo-Mo Legs definitely put me in my intermediate (if not beginner) place. So next time it comes around on my rotation, I’m going to sub B&G or something. Hmm, might copy this and put it on my blog since I haven’t written anything on there in a couple days.

I’m hungry now. I need to find some more filling stuff on WW. For lunch I had steamed broccoli with shredded 2% cheddar on top, a peach, and huh, maybe that was it. No wonder I’m hungry. No wait, I also had a little ½ cup of unsweetened applesauce. Yep, I am justly hungry. I’ll get up in a minute and eat some protein, I guess.

Oh, and I put another post on my dream blog (http://dreamerfig.blogspot.com).

Deb, well, I like the upper body Slo-Mo workouts, but as I wrote above, not the lower body. Yeah, I have the Polar F4, but I’m considering upgrading to the F6 or something.

Peggie, sorry about the monthly visitor’s arrival. It really sucks what that SoB does to us women.

Robin, Pee Corner? Catheland? Figgyville? What a world you live in. :D

Kristi, I did some fasting (for Christian purposes) in high school as well, and maybe also in college, not sure. More recently all I do is give up something for Lent, since becoming Episcopalian.

Shannon, good job upping the weights on GSL. Hmm, maybe I should try that one again soon.

Tneah, your ISFJ is showing with your gym complaints. :D Sometimes I think I’d like to be a mean old lady, myself. By then I will have earned it. Well, at least I’ll be smart-mouthed.

Breckie, does that mean you’re starting with Mr. Trainer Man?

Shelley, I sent you some virtual booze over on Facebook. I wish I could do more. All I have is virtual booze and virtual hugs. ((((HUGS))))

Leanne, you got a yogurt maker? Is that some sort of machine?

Kara, I love love love The Office! I loved the British version before and when they started the American version we were still living in Britain. I confess I was sure they were going to screw it up, but they didn’t. They converted it brilliantly—with more American characters and more American humor, but still wonderful and hilarious.

Allie, ooooh, girl, so sorry you are feeling rotten. I want to send you virtual booze and hugs, too. ****BOOZE**** ((((HUGS))))

Holy MoFo Batman - I just got done doing Pyramid Lower Body. Uh, I thought it was supposed to be a weight workout. I was sweating so bad when I had the barbell over my head sweat was dripping in my eyes and running down my arms making them itch like crazy. I can't even see straight. Actually I feel a little dizzy and my arms are so tired from hoisting that frickin' barbell over my head about a million times. Holy #$%^ I feel like I just ran about 100 sprints. Screw the cardio that I'm supposed to do today. Gee, can we tell Aunt Flo is here.

Shelley - What a great deal on that necklace. I would have snapped that up in a second. Good for you.

Lanie - Honey, you need to eat more. Get some more protein, it makes you feel fuller longer. Just my opinion.

Kristi- I can always tell when my kids are lying to me. They think we are soooo stupid.

Allie - What's wrong little kitten?

Leanne - I have been so tempted to get a yogurt maker. we eat yogurt all the time. The stonyfield organic whole milk plain yogurt, then we add berries and walnuts. Yummy! I ordered that new kettlebell workout with that Lauren Brooks chick (i think that is her name). It looks really good, but don't they all? I hope it really is.

Tneah - Hey sweetie.

Breckie - Ohhhh, Mr. Trainer Man, You will do wonderful, I just know it.

Kara - I am feeling better, I am starting to be able to feel my arms and the swishing in my head is going away.

Robin - Hope your day is going well. I had a really good friend from work. She was an agent and had been in about 20 years and was getting to retire and she ended up having cancer and died an extremely painful death. Her husband, step-daughter, me and another friend were with her when she died. It was sooooo sad. I still miss her a lot. She was an amazing person.

Deb - Hope everything went well today.

Talk to you chickies later.

Eat your protein Lainie bug, otherwise you will end up super duper hungry.I did Slo-Mo Legs, wow. It hurt my low back too, the jefferson squats I think, not a fan of those, but appreciated the different exercises and not one leg press in sight right?}( I too despise the leg press.

BG, look for my email

Alli, hey chica, what's buggin?

Peggy, I know! PLB is a trip, you barely get the chance to change your barbell and there she goes again! Its a tough for sure, the floorwork has to be my favorite lower body floorwork of Cathe's.

I just got back and am happy to report I left the pita chips in the store where they belong.*waves to Leanne*:p I just ate a nice big salad of herbs and greens, topped with some brussels sprouts.

I need a nap...its really warm today and really humid, kinda feels like Hawaii to me, Hawaii makes me sleepy, *yawns* oh boy, I am officially entering PMS territory...

Looks like we'll all be meeting over in Figgyville tomorrow!

Kristi -- That was sooo wonderful chatting on the phone! What a wonderful week this has been, getting to talk to you and Tneah both in person! When Mike woke up, I told him your funny comment about Kip from N.Dynamite and chatting on-line, and he totally cracked up. YOU are such a sweetheart and also so funny and warm! I always feel so lucky to be part of this group! That is so frustrating about your cable guy yesterday. Service calls are the worst -- but hopefully you won't have any more soon (and the elliptical is still up and running, right?)!

Allie -- Sending you {{{HUGS}}}! Sorry that today is a bad day. Anything you need to vent about? We're here for you, sweetie!

Lainie -- Life is too short to do workouts that aren't good for your body, so don't even worry about not liking your Slo-Mo workout. I've never bought anyone's strength workouts except for Cathe's b/c they just click so well for me. Yes, the yogurt maker is a machine that supposedly will make me some yummy Greek-style yogurt. We'll see. It's still cooking . . . . Glad that you ate some more food. That doesn't really sound like much at all, esp. after doing weight training. You might need a protein shake, too!

Peggie -- You are sooo funny! I love reading your posts! I think that ALL of Cathe's lower body workouts are almost like cardio workouts! Whenever I do them, I'm covered in sweat afterwards. Yes, definitely do NOT feel bad if you don't do any cardio today -- I think PLB, on top of Aunt Flo being here, totally counts! You'll have to let me know how you like that new KB workout you just ordered . . . but I also don't want to be enabled too much! ;-) Saturday I'll be doing my first Dove workout, so I'll let you know how that is . . . and I'll also be sure to keep you posted on how the yogurt turns out! How fun that you can watch Cathe at your gym. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend from work. That is just so awful. Reading things like that makes me so sad. How wonderful, though, that you were able to be there for her and with her! :-(

Robin -- You are so right . . . a Texas Melt sounds like a yummy, drippy, cheesy sandwich of some sort! Desserts are my downfall, too. ;-)

Kara -- It's sooo good to have you back, but sorry that the painting is such a headache. The Office is one of the only TV shows we watch -- it's hysterical! We actually got into it by first watching the original British version with Ricky Gervais; if you love British humor (very dry, no laugh track, etc.), you should check it out! It's also called The Office. :) I haven't heard of that medicine, but maybe if you post something on the OD, you might have more luck finding out if others have taken it. I'm so glad that you found some like-minded relatives to talk about fitness with -- and how cool that you melted a bit while you were gone, too! I'm sure you look FAB and GORGEOUS, and needn't worry at all about the RT!

Tneah -- Maybe I'll have to kidnap you away from the guys and the boat next week so we can hit up SD Fit! After all, we did establish our need yesterday for some new capris, right?! Of course, maybe some lunch or coffee will have to be involved, too! Yes, I guess we pick what we want and then email it to them so they have it ready for us when we go. ETA: Back to say "hi" and LOL about those pita chips! They really are EVIL aren't they?? Good for you leaving them at the store . . . you now know my awful secret about how I can't stuff enough of them into my fat gullet once I get the bag open!

Shelley -- Sending you great big {{{HUGS}}}, sweetie! Of course we wouldn't give up on you. We just want to help in whatever way we can, and please, please know that we're here for you . . . if you need to vent or cry or scream or b*tch or whatever! We love you, babe! I'm so glad that you treated yourself to that necklace!

I keep meaning to ask if any of you have heard of the BBC DVD series _Planet Earth_. My little brother and his GF gave it to us for Christmas, and we've been watching it a bit more lately to get out of our X-Files rut. (Did I just say that?;-)) Anyways, it's really, really neat, and has so much interesting info in it!

The yogurt is percolating it its little oven-thingie. In another hour or so, I'll take it out and then pop it in the fridge for eight hours. We'll see how the science project turns out! ;-)

Leanne – OMG, it’s so nice to hear of another pita chip offender. I am the WORST. I actually in the 2 weeks prior to getting my braces (because they are now officially off limits for 2 years), bought a nice backstock and powered through them like wildfire. 24 servings in a bag???? YEAHHHRRRIGHT. :7 :7 Hmmm… ‘cept for I think yogurt is ikky. :p We have the Planet Earth on our TiVo. They are really cool. But I’m a big baby and if there are any animals going to be eaten by other animals, I have to go away. I’m a wuss. x(

Hi Kara! I always say I LOVE painting walls… until I actually start doing it. Then I lose interest fairly quickly. :D Glad you’re back and that you melted on vacay! That’s a wonderful surprise, no?

Tneah – I hate those leg presses, too. I mean, I like the first oh… about 12. After that, I become BitterBreckGirl. }( She’s cranky and she huffs a lot. Perhaps I should try brussels sprouts again… you make them sound delish.

Peggie – ITA about PUB. Sweatfest. Totally counts as cardio. I typically do that one with DBs because all that switching makes me crazy! I have one temperamental clip on the end of my BB that makes unloading and loading that quickly very difficult. Sorry about your friend at work. I have been with 2 people as they died – it was a moving experience to say the least. I have also been present for 2 births! Equally powerful experiences, but obviously with different emotions…

Lainie – can I have virtual booze? Since yes – I’m starting with Mr Trainerman, I can’t have any REAL booze. :p Refund! I demand a refund!!! JK.

Allie – you always contribute wonderfully here – and bring us your crankies. I betcha we can help. Hope your day improves!

Kristi – I heart this group, too. Such a special place!!!!

Shelley – (((HUGS))) How’s your day shaping up? Hope you have been able to smile some!

Robin – I’m not so sure it’s “fortitude.” I think it’s more like crazytude. Insanitude. Something along those lines. But thanks for your vote of confidence! Only time will tell. How was Pee Corner today? :7 :7 :7

Howdy to all other Melty Babes! We will be figalicious tomorrow in Figgyville.

I'm such a dweeb. :+

OMG -- I just finished BM2 for the 1st time. That is a seriously long workout, and I included the 6 min. bonus cardio segment. It was made even longer b/c my kids called, the UPS man came, etc. I started it with the dog loose, but it got her really excited, so I had to put her in her crate to avoid stepping on her and hurting one of us really badly. :)

OMG!! OK now we are talkin'. I got my new kettleball workout, that cardio kettleball one with the dude on the beach?Uh yeah, that baby just totally kicked my arse. Really. And I did the turkish get-ups in this one, he explained and went slow so I understood, the other video was not as clear. I love this workout, its so different from my usual, and I am covered in sweat, I have never sweat so much! You were right Leanne.WOW.

Kristi, LOL at your madhouse during BM2!:+ That workout is a toughie, I rarely power through all of it.

Leanne, very cool, I will have to do a little "online looking" at San Fit, capri's it is! :)I know that those brands we talked about have a few that are darling...if I am remembering right. I have shorter legs and I know they are not the best choice, but hey, who cares? Everyone wears them in the summer...my DH always asks me "what happened to the rest of your pants?"

BG, another pita chip person? Better grab a bag while you can sista!:p I promise I will not tease you, but I know what your headed into, I will shut up the very second you start on your program and shall be your biggest cheerleader!:+

I am so pleasantly tired...ahhh...need to shower, DH just walked in and is all excited about the new boat, they accepted our offer, now its all about paperwork and having the captain go through and check everything, yadda, yadda, yadda...and Tneah getting a grip on the reality she might be living on a boat, like for good in a few years.
:7 See you all in Figsville tomorrow morning. Let me check and see if I did in fact bookmark...
