* * * MELTERS! TGIF! * * *

Goodmorning melty folks.

I ended up doing Push Pull Upper Body X 2 for yesterday's workout. Today will be something cardio. Yay!

Leanne, so how was day one of your siege? Maybe it will all turn out to be much pleasanter than you imagined. Hope so.

Kristi, I'm glad to hear your nerd helped. Did you get all your computer work done?

Lainie, I remember those last days of school. The kids would go in, get their report cards and come home.

Deb, I hope you get back in a bit too. I miss you, you busy puppy trainer, you!

Shannon, one more day, then a nice quiet computerless weekend!

Shelley, I got your email and will try to get back to you this afternoon. I don't have time this morning. Any news on Karen?

Kara, kids! Don't you just love them. Wait. Someday Emma will be complaining about her own kids.

Tneah, hope you are safe and sound in FL and having a wonderful time visiting.

Hi Jennifer!

Time for me to hit the road. See you all later, I hope.

Hi, I'm back,

I hope I can stay long enough to respond to the happenings of yesterday...it's kind of hard to type and keep your eye on a little spitfire that gets into everything! I don't like to crate him too much before I go to work because he is in there from 7:30 until 12:30 when I get home for lunch, then back in until 5:30.

Robin:
Nice workout yesterday! What will your cardio be today? I need to join you in your melting efforts..mine stink lately!

Shelly:
Nice run with our "Grace"..:7 I love her but I wish someone would give her a stop watch that works!

Allison:
Good for you for getting that "arse kicking" done yesterday! I am in on the Shelly Tuesday day off!

Leanne:
How did the first day with In-laws go?

Shannon:
Happy Computer Free weekend!

Kristi:
When do you leave for vacation? ARe the computer gremlins dead yet?

Lainie:
I kind of agree with your DH on the school thing...ducks head as Laine slaps me! :+ . I think it was just dumb to have an hour class, but not going would show the kids that it is ok to skip out on responsibilities... and I would be very tempted to do it too!

Kara:
How did that pottery turn out anyway?

Have a great day!

Deb:)

Good morning, all!

Woke up at 5:00 this morning again -- ug! So yesterday the in-laws ended up staying here for only about two hours since they headed up to DH's stepgrandma's house, where they'll be staying until they find a place. It's so funny, though, b/c as soon as MIL walked in the door, she goes and sits in MY SEAT at the kitchen table. She always does that, even though she knows darn well that it's where I sit. When they actually stay with us (which is usually for a couple of weeks), it's always this little power play the first evening, where I have to move her glass somewhere else so I can sit in my seat at the table. UG!

We took BIL to dinner, and it's already going to be an issue about him living here. We couldn't watch our X-Files episode last night since BIL also bought the X-Files box set, and he didn't want to see the continued episode where we're at. DH jokingly said, "Why don't you go just read in your bedroom for 45 minutes while we watch it?", and BIL laughed and just sat right where he was at on the couch. Tomorrow will definitely be some jumping workout (maybe an Imax?) early in the morning.}( And on Saturdays I usually start laundry when I wake up at about 5:00 or 5:30. I'll put off starting it until about 6:00, but then I'm starting it. Is that awful of me?! OK, I'm so sorry to vent, everyone! Thanks for listening!

Today was my weigh-in day, and I'm exactly where I was last Friday. My eating has been really bad this week since we did dinner last night and ate out earlier in the week when we helped my dad move. I need to reign things in! :)

Kara -- Well, at least did Emma's mermaid turn out alright? ;-) What a bummer that you still have those darn errands to do!

Deb -- Sorry that the little spitfire is still keeping things hectic! Is he still bothering Kelsey as much? Is Kelsey doing a bit better?

Robin -- What cardio will you be doing today? How do you like Push/Pull? I don't have that one, but probably won't end up getting it since hopefully STS will be out sooner rather than later. Are you looking forward to your dinner out tomorrow night? ;-) When will you start your melting?

Shelley -- Hooray for the long weekend! :) Is Sophie now off on summer break? Any news about how Karen is doing?

Shannon -- How are things at work? Any less hectic? Will you be able to relax and maybe paint this weekend?

Lainie -- Boo for Brian making Isaac go to school today!x(

Allie -- How are you doing, babe? Are you sleeping better?

Kristi -- So is the computer now up and running after the nerd came? :)

Jennifer -- Hope you're doing well!

Tneah -- Not sure if you're checking in, but we miss you already!:-(

I'll be around most of the day! The in-laws are coming over later and we'll probably get dinner or lunch with them. Love and hugs to everyone!

Hello,
I'm in a rotten mood today. I'm tired. And bloated. And cranky. I just wanted to say hi but don't have much else to say right now.

Leanne--sorry about the In-Law drama. That's stinkos.

I'll be back later when I'm in a better mood and not as miserable to be around. ;)

Happy Friday everyone!

Now, if I can just make it through this day.... I dearly love Saturday mornings. If only I could put time on hold for a few more hours tomorrow... :7 Actually, it would be nice if I could speed time up today! I think it's going to be another slow day.

Robin - have fun with your cardio today! And yep, starting at 3:30 p.m. today, I will be computer-free until Monday morning!

Deb - I think you need to be a SAHPM (stay-at-home puppy mom)! :7

Leanne - I wouldn't delay on the laundry, and I'd do Imax 3. Remember all those jumping jacks on and off the step? }(

Today is my rest day. I think I earned this one. :7 It was a fun workout week though. And tomorrow is Press Play Saturday!!!

Leanne!!! I can't believe your BIL has started out so rudely! You should have watched the show anyway. If he didn't like it, he could get up and leave. Honey, do NOT let him rule your life. Stick to your routine and do what you want when you want. This is your house and you and your DH are doing HIM a favor. Sheesh.

OMG -- how do I yell & cuss on here without getting in trouble??? I was typing my post and my stupid computer (allegedly fixed for $155.75 yesterday) SHUT DOWN!!!! I am so frustrated! I am going to go ahead and post this, and then start over on a nice, friendly, lady-like post in response to everything I missed yesterday and this morning.

Trying again -- good morning, all,
This Friday is not starting out as well as I'd hoped, but I know it's a minor thing in the overall scheme of life. I'm going to try real hard to put my big girl panties on and get over it! I’m also typing this in Word first so I won’t lose it if my computer does its thing again!!! :) My workout plan today is Butts & Guts. I've never done it, so I'm very excited.

Robin -- I'm so glad you decided to go on a date with DH. As Tneah said, life is too short not to take advantage of those opportunities. What kind of restaurant are you going to?

Leanne -- I thought about you a lot yesterday! Wow, sounds like BIL is acting like a teenage boy – just as I feared! You or your DH need to say to him, “No, really – go upstairs if you don’t want to watch this.” And then, as Robin said, watch it or do whatever YOU want to! At least the scale stayed put this morning – sometimes I’m just happy about that. I am doing the July RT check in, but it’s so different from ours – there really isn’t much interpersonal chatting – just “here’s my workout.” I hope that will change b/c I’d like to get to know more people better before the trip. I’m planning to have DH or one of the girls take my picture this afternoon for the RT Who’s Who book, and I’ll probably change my avatar to that, too.

Lainie -- that's so weird that you can't buy wine in your grocery store. Is that a local or state thing? The grocery store right in my neighborhood has a lovely wine section. I think many of the drive thru beer barns have shut down in the wake of tougher drinking and driving laws. School for an hour – that’s crazy! Is it a public school? He’s out now, though, right. What kind of summer activities do you have planned?

Shannon – I hope your day isn’t too slow – I really used to hate slow work days, too! Enjoy the computer-free weekend! I’ll be on vacation when you get back on Monday. How was your visit with your mother?

Kara – I was LOL at Emma dragging her feet (paintbrush?) at the pottery place. I used to take my DDS to do that, and they would finish really quickly and then bug me to hurry up. Then they would complain that theirs didn’t turn out as well as mine. Kids! Was Emma happy with hers? How’s the house?

Deb – I just have the funniest mental picture of Keegan running around your house and making mischief of every kind. :) We leave early Sunday on vacation and return late Thursday. Then, of course, DH has the 4th off, so he’ll have a few days to recuperate before he goes back to work. We never seem to actually relax on vacation. :)

Shelley – Enjoy your long weekend!! How are you this morning?

Allison – Hope your mood improves – I’m with you right now, though, in Crankyville!

Hi, Jennifer & Tneah! Hope you are having a great day!

Well, I got through this with no shut downs. Now to cut and paste.

Hey all,

I've been tooling around the forums, catching up on what I didn't get a chance to read yesterday.

Allie, sweetie -- Sending you great big {{{HUGS}}}! Can we do anything today to make things more cheery for you?? And, for the record, you're NEVER miserable to be around! :)

Shannon -- Hope that today doesn't drag on too much -- and hooray for CCPP tomorrow morning! Ah, yes, those jumping jacks in Imax 3 might be just the thing for tomorrow morning . . . . Enjoy that rest day today -- you've earned it!

Robin -- Thank you for the wonderful advice! I really need to be better about speaking up, but I never want to make someone else feel uncomfortable.

Kristi -- Oh no!!! How frustrating about that dang computer!! That nerd is a real *Beep* for not actually getting your computer fixed yesterday! Ah, B&G today for the first time! Yowsa! Appreciate your non-sore legs now! }( Yes, the August RT check-in is also pretty mellow. I also need to get the info sent in for the booklet!

Where's our Shelley this morning?? :)

ETA: Oh, I'm editing this to say that BIL was *already* reading on the couch last night (we all were) when DH said something about BIL reading in his room. Didn't want you all to think that DH was being a jerk to his brother! DH and I were just dying to finish up the "to be continued" second episode that left Mulder in a tight spot -- possibly abducted by aliens! Yikes! ;-)

Kristi - you'll love B&G. It's a lot of fun! You should try it with heavy weights... }( You could call the computer nerd back and tell him he owes you a free visit, since his first attempt didn't work. Where are you going for vacation?

Leanne - Okay. Here's the deal. The living room is a public place in the home, right? If a person wants privacy, they go to their bedrooms. So if you want to watch TV, especially in your own home (!!!), then do it. BIL can take himself straight to his room if he doesn't like it. Or straight to an apartment....

Hey - I'm actually busy right now. How cool is that? :p

We're participating in a local TV station's Summer Cereal drive to help out kids on summer break who normally rely on the school meal programs for breakfast. There's a whole bunch of cereal out at the front desk. And... and... a big box of cinnamon brown sugar toaster treats! :9 :9 I want to rip open the box and start munching. :7

Hi everyone.

I'm soooo sleepy today. It's one of those days where I can barely stay awake for some reason. At least Isaac's already home from his last day of school, and we have no other set plans for the day. I figured (aside from DH's lesson in responsibility idea) that I should send Isaac to school today so he could say goodbye one more time to his friends and teachers. He was happy to go this one last day anyway.

Robin, yep, Isaac brought home his report card today. It hadn't even occurred to me until you mentioned it, and sure enough he got it.

Deb, I won't slap you for your opinion. ;) I admire DH and his strict principles. There's a reason he's a successful guy, after all. In spite of his crazy times in college, he still didn't miss class much or anything, whereas I was a really well-behaved college girl in some ways but didn't hesitate to skip classes right and left. :)

Leanne, every set of in-laws have their issues, I guess. I can't imagine mine doing that power play thing with the seat at the table, but on the other hand they never bother to visit us anyway. DH is sort of hurt at how little they call or anything--it's just the way they are. Anyway, point is, every family has their weird little things. Oh, and I wish you could smack BIL for not letting you watch your show. x(

Allie, so sorry you are tired, bloated, and cranky!!! Big ((((HUGS)))), sweetie.

Shannon, oh yeah, CCPP tomorrow. I can't count how many times I've thought about doing that without actually doing it. Maybe I'll manage tomorrow? I will think about it again, anyway. :) I'd have to go in the morning before it gets too blasted hot, though--since I do jogging outdoors. Of course, I probably shouldn't jog on my knees, anyway, but I'm considering it.

Kristi, so sorry for the computer woes! It's so awful when our trusty little electronics let us down! Mine completely quit on me last year (May of '07, I think) which is when I bought my Mac. I love my Mac but I lost a few things on the old Dell. x( I don't know what the deal with the no wine in the grocery store thing is. You can buy beer but nothing else. It's so silly. It's not even like we're in a super-conservative area here. I'm pretty sure we could buy stuff down in Houston, and we definitely could in Europe. Yep, he's in a public school--it's like they just had them show up today so they could get the required number of days in. No particular summer plans for the boys, though we might go visit family in July. Summer day camps are insanely expensive up here (of course, maybe they're like that elsewhere, I don't know). Like I looked into an art camp for Isaac and it was almost $1000 for just 4 weeks. ***choke*** That's a bit much for my 5-year old to have a few hours a day of art camp. We are too cheap for that. We're also too cheap for the swimming pool club dues. Ugh. I'm thinking of nagging DH we should join the Y again, as it now seems pretty reasonably priced.

I don't know if I'm going to work out today--it's been another of those weeks for me. I might wait and do it tomorrow while DH is home so I can go for a walk/gentle jog. I'm also thinking of seeing if he'll do kettlebells with me tomorrow. So that means I should probably rest today. Except I won't actually rest much since I still want to do some cleaning and laundry (DH came home with lots of laundry last night). I am not going to push myself too much on the workouts until after July 4th since I have a lot to prepare before our party.

Hey, Shannon -- I'm sitting here working on that directory stuff I mentioned yesterday -- and saving very often -- just in case! :) I did call the nerd right away, but they want me to bring the machine in to them, and DH is thinking he might rather have his IT guy from work look at it at this point. That is what he would've preferred in the first place, but the IT guy couldn't get to it soon enough. Since we leave on Sunday, DH would now rather wait on the IT guy than take it into a shop to sit for a week. We are going to Chicago.

I'm glad you are busy. That cereal drive sounds awesome! Stay away from the Pop Tarts! :)

ETA: Hi, Lainie -- we were posting at the same time.

Shannon (or anyone) -- I was going to use the weights Cathe does for B&G since I haven't done it. According to the chart from Lainie's website, Cathe either uses 5# db's or a 35# bb. I may not use that much on deadlifts b/c they hurt my back if I get too heavy. Also, I don't have any ankle weights, but floor work always seems challenging enough without. :) I typically use heavier than this in other leg workouts, but since I don't know this one. What do you think?

Kristi - I'd definitely use Cathe's weights as a guide for the first time, so you can get a feel for it. I did it that way for a few times and then started playing with it. It's an excellent workout as-is. When I add in heavier weights, sometimes it surpasses GSL.

Hi! I'm back! And in a MUCH better mood. I'm afraid to tell you why, though. Don't scold me--I went tanning on my lunch break. It was so nice. I fell asleep and feel so much better now. I feel so pretty! I know, I know, it's bad for me. I know all the dangers. Anhoo, that's why I feel better. :)

Lainie--could your son be ANY cuter?!?! Between Keegan and your son I'm turning into a big fat puddle of goo. They're just so cute! I'm sorry you're tired today. I'm exhausted. Just keep pushin' through though. I'm a pro at that. ;)

Tneah--I MISS YOU!

Robin--I'm so glad you're going to wear your pretty dress and go out with DH tomorrow night. How fun. I'm really looking forward to the weekend, but I have no plans (shocker). Maybe I'll take a drive and come have dinner with you and the Hubby. ;) :)

Kristi---I'm SO sorry about your computer woes. How awful. There's nothing more frustrating. Yuck. Tell your computer Nerd to get his butt back to your house. NO CHARGE! Have fun with B&G! I adore that workout. The music is awesome and the floorwork is my favorite floorwork of Cathe's. No need for heavier weights than what Cathe uses. Trust me. ;)

Leanne--I love your avatar! Dang, you're one gorgeous lady! I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow. Maybe I'll "pull a Leanne" and cut it all off. Man that would be sweet. I don't know if I have the gutts, though. Oh, and I meant to tell you that I got the CD you mailed me! Thank you soooo much! You're so sweet. I can't wait to listen to it!

Shannon--hey, you, miss Cardio Coach enabler! It's so fun being over on the CC forum and seeing all my Cathe friends! I think I'm gonna cave and buy vol. 8 tonight..!! AAAHHH! My poor bank account....
Oh, and thank you for that incredibly sweet email you sent me about managing stress. It was so sweet--and incredibly informative and helpful! I'm going to check out that book you recommended for sure!

Kara--I hope you and the house are hangin' in there! I detest any type of renovations or any time things are not in order. You're almost there, though. Stay strong! :)

Hmmmm....is that it? Sorry if I missed anyone.

I'm plannning on GS Back, Shoulders and Bi's tonight and iTread 18--40 minutes. I'm craving a good run on my treadmill. Although I'm sure I'll get that tomorrow when I do CCPP!

I'll be back soon! Today's one of the Fridays where I get to leave at 4 instead of 5! Yippee!!

Today was Leaner Legs -- and my legs are still shakin'! How can such a short workout kill your legs so much?! Those sit and stands are especially yowsa -- especially since I just did them in PS Legs a few days ago! (Note to self: plan that better next time!)

OK, so I can vent about one more thing, and then I promise to shut up? It's just been bothering me all morning. Last night, when the check came at dinner, I got out my credit card, and BIL didn't say anything -- didn't offer to pay. When we got out to the parking lot, he said thanks, but it seemed so odd to me. When he comes to visit, we pay for EVERYTHING and don't let him treat at all, but shouldn't he have offered to pay for his food since he's now going to be living with us? If it was me, I would have picked it up as a thank-you for the stay. Ah, well. I'm normally a generous person, I swear, but it just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. Sorry -- I promise to shut up about it! :)

Allie -- You naughty girl, you, with that tanning! Tsk, tsk! OK, enough with the lecturing -- you know I love ya'! :) Oh, you're so cute with your "pull a Leanne," but you look so perfect with your hair as it is! I hope you like the CD! It has two different stress reduction programs on it, and the woman's voice is so soothing! Hope it helps de-stress you!

Lainie -- OMG Issac is just soooo adorable!! What a cutie! That's probably a good idea to take it easy on the workouts until after July 4 since you haven't been feeling great. Then we'll all have to whip into shape before the RT! Yikes!

Shannon -- Yummm! Cereal (drool, drool)! I like your idea about the apartment! ;-) Glad that work is going more quickly today, and Saturday will soon be here! Hooray!

Robin -- I meant to ask -- what kind of restaurant will you be going to tomorrow night? What does your new dress look like? Hubba hubba, I bet you look beautiful in it!

Kristi -- I never go as heavy as Cathe with deadlifts either since doing so always bothers my low back. So just do what feels comfortable to your body -- and I guarantee that you'll still get a great workout with B&G! }( Hooray for Chicago in a few days! Do you have a lot to do to get ready before Sunday?

I'm almost done with that bracelet I'm making, and hope to finish it this afternoon. I'll post photos when I get it done. No word from the IL's yet, so I guess that means we're doing dinner with them.

Where are Shelley and Kara today? I know Jennifer usually doesn't check in until the evenings, but Shelley is usually here bright and early! Did her long weekend start today?

Hope you're all having a fabulous Friday! Hooray for Fridays!
