Hi, again,
Well, I started to post earlier, and my DDs called me to come get them at school. They are officially sophomores, and they survived their freshman year with a minimal amount of drama, no particularly bad choices, and mostly A’s. I guess I really couldn’t ask for more!
I did GS BSB and the planks and abs from S&H. I also actually got through most of the TV version of Rhythmic Step. Maybe there is hope! If I wanted to buy a step DVD or two, what would y’all recommend?
Tneah – WOW, I am so impressed with your resolve in getting rid of your scale!!! I can totally feel your frustration on the whole weight/body issue!!! I agree with everything you said. I have a new scale that purports to tell me my body fat %. It can’t possibly be right – it varies by so much every day. If I program it that I’m a man, it gives me a nice low % – I just don’t understand that. I wish I could get rid of mine – maybe you’ll inspire me. Speaking of you inspiring me, I cannot tell you how good it made me feel for you to call me an athlete. Growing up, I was always “smart” but “not athletic.” I didn’t really start working out in earnest until 1999 when I started a job at a place with a small fitness center. My fitness journey since then has been wonderful with some very cool accomplishments, but I still don’t think of myself as an athlete. I think I’m going to try to start thinking that way. Thank you!!!
Leanne – I’m sorry that tomorrow will be a hard day for you. I’ll be sending you warm thoughts and big {{{HUGS}}}! I’ll try to find some pics of some of the jewelry I’ve made. I have so many beautiful beads, but I never seem to find/make the time to actually make the jewelry. I always feel a bit guilty – like I’m not doing something else that I should be doing. Fortunately, I do NOT feel that way about the time I spend working out because I know that makes me a much happier wife and mother! On the pushups in the challenge, it’s our plan to do 210 on Mon. & 210 on Tues. I’ll do mine on my knees, and I find that I can do them more easily if I do them faster than Cathe does. That’s the part of the challenge that I’m a real wimp on; DH won’t be doing his on his knees. We will spread them through the afternoon, though. Are you a teacher? What subject? What level? That book you recommended sounds great! My girls were in early elementary grades when Britney Spears was REALLY popular with young girls and skanky outfits were all the rage for little girls. :-(
Lainie – I hope you’re resting and that your teeth are feeling better!
Jennifer – Hi!
Shelley & Kara – Enjoy your sweet daughters while they are still “little girls” because that is about to end. The years from 10-13 are such a time of growth and figuring out who they are; there are moments when they want to be so grown up and independent, and then moments when they want to be held and taken care of like little girls. There are lots of inexplicable tears during this time, too. I could probably give you lots of advice you don’t want, but I’ll save it for another time. I’ll just tell you this one thing that has really helped me over the past few years: Before you go out in public with your daughter, ask her how you look. Be prepared for whatever she says, and, if necessary, change whatever it is that bothers her. This will prevent some of the inevitable “embarrassment” you are going to cause her, and I’ve found that if I ask for feedback, they give it in a nicer way than if they tell me later what was wrong with my outfit/hair/what I said, etc.
Shelley – Did you go to RT last year? If so, are you in anyone’s pictures that are linked to Cathe’s website?
Kara – It sounds like you need some rest days, too. I hope you’re taking it easy today. Are you redoing your kitchen? Are you doing it yourself? I agree with you that Cathe seems more relaxed in S&H. Thank you for taking the time to read our website. Yes, the experiences surrounding my DH’s cardiac arrest were terrifying; it all seems very surreal in retrospect. But I’ve learned so much, and I know it has made all of us better, more compassionate, more authentic people, and, for that, I am extraordinarily grateful.
