Medicine Ball

Hi! I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed...I've got PUB and PLB on DVD on order, but like many others I've been thinking of ordering a video to tide me over...lol...and have been thinking about Boot Camp...my question is this: I'm an advanced exerciser, but I've never even used a medicine ball in a workout...do I really want to start with an 8-pounder as is used in the video, or should I start out with a lower poundage? Thanks. :)

Hi, Terry,

A lot (but not all) of the moves that use a medicine ball can also be modified with a dumbbell (one exerciser shows the modifications). You could try the videos first with an 8-lb dumbbell and see if that weight is right for you before getting the medicine ball. Or you could go ahead and get the 8-lb ball, and if that's too heavy at first, you could use a smaller dumbbell until you work up to the ball. I think either of those would work.

I just viewed boot camp and muscle endurance last night and you can easily use an 8lb. weight if you do not want to spend the money on a medicine ball.

Thanks, audreyw and bethmeira! Using an 8-pound dumbell is probably what I'll wind up doing...I just got the stability ball and have been spending sooo much lately on videos, DVDs, and equipment...I should probably (at least try) to pull the reins in a little! :)
