Medicine Ball ? for lucky VHSers

Roses

I have found the 10 lb medicine ball for $17.96 at Wal-Mart and the cheapest I can find the 8 lb one is about $26 or more (Can't remember exact amount). Do you VHSers feel a 10 lb medicine ball would be way too heavy for regular Cathe video user? Just wondered if the 8 lb. ball feels great or if some of you feel 10 lb. would be fine also. I'm itching to get one but don't like the cost of the 8 lb. ball. Thanks in advance....Sami

I got the 10 lb ball at Wal-Mart also and have used it for all of the workouts. The only exercise I might prefer a lighter ball would be core work where you are on your side and lifting the ball with your obliques. You can substitute a dumbbell for any exercises that you feel the ball is too heavy for.

I got my medicine ball at Walmart too. I also got the smaller purple 5lb. ball at Walmart too. I haven't gotten my DVDs yet so I'm hoping the 10lb. isn't going to be too heavy but I can grab my lighter ball or a dumbbell. I figured for the price, if it's too heavy, I can work up to it.

It depends on the exercise -- the 10 lb ball would probably be even better than the 8 lb for the leg presses and side squats in Boot Camp. As Erica mentioned, the exercise where it's most likely to be too heavy is the one where you're doing the side plank things with it on your obliques. I think for most of the other exercises, you could at least work up to it, either using a lighter dumbbell at first or just putting the ball down when you get tired.
