Measurements?

Hi Everyone!

I took my measurements today and compared them to last week's measurements.
My waist is down 1", hips down over 1/2", my thigh 2", and calf 1". Is this possible in one week? I've been watching what I eat and exercising with Cathe.

Since I can't weigh myself right now (my kids broke my cheap scale) I am going by measurements.

My question for you all is where exactly do you measure? How do you know you are measuring the exact same spot each time?

Thanks,
Shirley:)

That seems excessive to me. Could you have been bloated last week? I don't measure my legs, but I measure right across my belly button and around the widest part of my hips.

Did you use the same measuring tape? Could you have possibly pulled it around you a little tighter the second time (or looser the first time)? The decreases do seem a bit excessive.

While they don't seem like typical results, I am sure it is possible. When I measure, I write down exactly where I measure. For example for thighs, I measure down 4" from my inseam, etc. so that I know the next time I am measuring the same spot.

Are your clothes fitting looser?

Sounds like you are doing great.

Yes it is possible, I also lost an inch in my hips, been pouring on the exercise this past week, and its paying off. But I also dropped my calories down to 1200 a day, till I get where I want to be..... Rhonda:7

I have been meauring my waist (and chest too)...watching them both grow larger and larger!! LOL :p

After the baby is born I'll measure to see where I stand and take it from there....I used to keep track of my measurements pretty closely over the first couple months I was exercising. I too would write down the *exact* location I measured at so that I could measure in the same spot the next time.

Watching inches disappear is more gratifying to me than watching the scale go down!:)

Have a great work out!

I have been doing measurements on and off for about 8 months. I finally was told to pull the tape as tight as possible (without it hurting!) to be sure you are getting the right numbers. They may be slightly smaller than you really are, but I'm looking to track progress, not see if my waist is 27" or 29" in reality. I use mybodycomp.com to keep track of it all. They show you where to put the tape for each body part.

Ya know, I never thought about measuring down and trying to make sure it was the same spot. Thanks for the tip. And thanks for the website. I'll check it out. You guys are great!
