Max Weight on Barbell

I'm planning on ordering STS & the Troy Barbell next week and starting the program in Sept. I've never done STS; what is the max weight Cathe uses on the barbell exercises? The Troy lite system only can hold up to 80 pounds; will that be enough?
 
Have you done your 1RMs? Sounds like you haven't -- if you do those and plug them into the worksheets, you will find out what the max is. I have a troy lite and was able to complete the program with it for the weights I needed to use. It was definitely a very loaded bar!

We've used Troy Barbells with up to 105 pounds without noticing any problems. The weight you will need will depend on your strength level.
 
I won't put more than the recommended 80 pounds on my troy, especially for something like a bench press where I have to hold it over my body. If you watch the STS videos where Cathe loads her bar up beyond the 80 pounds, you can see it flexing. I don't feel comfortable with a flexing barbell. Of course, there's a difference between bench presses and deadlifts. If it fails on a deadlift, all that weight isn't going to fall on your chest. I bought a 6' standard barbell to use when I need more then 80 pounds. It fits my troy weights and I feel safer.
