I won't put more than the recommended 80 pounds on my troy, especially for something like a bench press where I have to hold it over my body. If you watch the STS videos where Cathe loads her bar up beyond the 80 pounds, you can see it flexing. I don't feel comfortable with a flexing barbell. Of course, there's a difference between bench presses and deadlifts. If it fails on a deadlift, all that weight isn't going to fall on your chest. I bought a 6' standard barbell to use when I need more then 80 pounds. It fits my troy weights and I feel safer.
