Anyone have a mattress they particularly love? We need a new one--current one sags badly in the middle. So far we are considering a Select Comfort mattress--it's an adjustable air mattress that seemed to be really comfortable, at least in the store. Anyone have experience with these? Also looked at a memory foam mattress (Sealy True Foam), though it wasn't nearly as comfy as the air one. Would love to hear about either or both of these, or if you have used a mattress that you really love, and why.

Thanks!!

Our mattress is a Sealy and it's been great - really comfortable, firm but not hard, and we've had it for 5 years with no sag so far.

However, during my wedding weekend 2 years ago my in-laws rented out a bed and breakfast for the out of town guests to stay in - the B&B was completely renovated the month before and they spared no expense w/ the bedding, linens, etc - every guest that stayed there (10 couples total) all bought the same mattress they slept on that weekend when they got home! They were Stearns and Foster but I can't remember what model they are, sorry. I know they aren't inexpensive but from what I've heard they are high quality.

I've heard bad things about the memory foam mattresses, mainly that they sag (or keep your form) after a year or so.

Last regular mattress I got was not cheap, yet it sagged in the middle at about 5 years.

With memory foams, I have heard the sagging problem, but mainly about older forms of memory foam--I think that they use different materials now that prevent that problem. I have heard, though, that the comfort level of the foam can vary according to the temperature of your bedroom--in the cold, they're hard; in the heat, they're mushy. But I'm not sure if that's true or if it's just something that a saleswoman trying to sell us a different mattress told us. What a pain.

Do you flip your mattress regularly? I flip and rotate everytime I change the bedding which really helps prevent sagging - that and having a really supportive box spring.

Guilty as charged. There was a long period of time when I didn't rotate it, though I actually think it happened before then. The box spring was supposed to be good.

We have one of those memory foam mattresses, and LOVE it! I started with the foam topper, but we went to the full on mattress and it is amazing. Very firm and supportive and yet you snuggle into it in an odd way. I sleep cold and this is much warmer to sleep on as well. I would never go back to another normal mattress again.

Do you think it would be a problem for a hot sleeper? Our bedroom tends to get overheated (am in an apartment building and the heat is overly generous during the winter), plus I am usually blazing hot when I sleep as a general pattern year-round.
