I have read about those foam rollers that are good for massaging muscles and also help with cellulite. does anyone know where to get them?

Hi Laura. I have a foam roller to roll out my IT band. It has helped to loosen it up like stretching never has. I purchased mine at a home fitness store (like the type where they sell treadmills, steps, etc...). I haven't looked to see if they have them at sportings goods stores though. Also, I think the last time I was in Target I saw one in their little sporting good dept too. I have one that is 6" diameter and 3 ft long. They sell shorter ones too, but I like the longer ones. Oh, just so you know. Mine cost $30 (which I thought was ridiculous).

www.power-systems.com , www.fitterfirst.com , www.fwonline.com sell them. You can also get one with 3 Karen Voight DVD's from www.collagevideo.com (but act fast if you decide to do this. The DVD/roller kit is being sold through Collage accidentally, and won't be offered there for long).

www.nasm.com has a good article, with photos, on using a foam roller for self-myofacial release (they also sell rollers in their store).

I've never heard of them used for cellulite.

Laura, I just got one of these at the beginning of the year and I absolutely love it!! The cost of material can't be more than 17 cents but they charge out the wazo for a simple piece of foam!! Still, I am so glad I have mine!

I **roll** my entire lower body on that thing. I start with the glutes, then move down to the hams, then shifting so all my weight is on one glute and one ham. I do the hips, quads, hip flexors, IT band, calves, hamstrings...you name it! If it is below the belt, I've rolled it! I've even done my shoulders before! That was tricky but they were sore from Muscle Max!!

Our local running specialty store has them. I bought mine at a Physical therapist place. Mine is shorter but 36 inches in diameter. I think it cost $15.

Oh, and it feels like a deep tissue massage! At first, everything is real sensitive and tender. After a few weeks, you can tell the knots are worked out.

Make sure you drink plenty of water when you use it...just like you would if you had a massage. You need to flush away the toxins.

> Mine is shorter but 36 inches in
>diameter.

I think you might mean 6" (otherwise, that's one huge foam roller!LOL!). They are usually 36" long and 6" in diameter. Maybe you have a half-roller that's only 18" long (but still 6" in diameter)?

lucinda- I seen a roller just like that one at kmart lastnight. I want the foam roller though. I think it would work things out better. I saw one on amazon.com for less than 15$.
