Masai Barefoot Technology sneakers and shoes

Anybody knows anything about these? I read an article about these shoes and did a search on google today and I really want to know if there's somebody out there that uses them. They're not cheap (about $199 for the sneakers) but they have an unstable surface (similar to walking on sand) and they supposedly help with circulation and posture. The sneakers are used for walking or jogging (I didn't read anything about high impact or low impact cardio versions) and they supposedly reduce cellulite up to 50% after the first month of use. I'm dying to know more.

How can they do that- do they change shape every time you take a step? At that price they should! }(

LOL!!!!! :7 Ok that was funny. Anywho, I wonder if I could find that Runner's World review on the internet. If I find it I'll post the link...

I did the search on the runner's world website but I couldn't find anything. However, I did a search on their forums and found the link for the mbt website http://www.mbt-uk.com/ I wonder if they're worth it...cause $199 for sneakers....jeez. Everybody should check it out and share their opinions.

I'd have to know more about it, from someone other than the manufacturer, before I bought a pair. I'd want to know the research results after long-term use.

Ok I found the US website

This is the website http://www.swissmasaius.com/ Even the sandals are expensive. Hey Bobbi I read these last at least a year or two. Sounds too good to be true if you ask me. I wonder if they have a guarantee on that claim. If they do well....the sneakers and the sandals are going on my Christmas list }(

RE: Ok I found the US website

Ooh la la, Rose! They do sound great and you wouldn't believe the trouble I have had with my tootsies. It is a lot of dough and I have never spent $200.00 on a pair of shoes but my favorite New Balances were $109.00 and I always got two pairs so I could alternate. Or I did when I could run 35 to 50 miles per week. Great shoes are probably teh biggest factor in staying injury free with high impact and intensity exercise. And if Santa is willing to bring them then I say go for it!

RE: Ok I found the US website

I work at a spa in manhattan and we have some awesome stuff and the sneakers are in our catalog now. It's so funny because I was thinking about ordering them (I get a 45% discount) and I found this thread. Anyway, if I get them I will let you all know how they are.

RE: Ok I found the US website

 Lizzy! You work at bliss on 57th?!!!!!! I'm guessing here, but I know they have them at bliss. I haven't been to NY in awhile, but I might go in a couple of months. If I don't get them for Christmas I'm thinking I'll spend the money myself and buy them anyways. Do you know you have to learn how to properly walk on those? I was reading the pdfs I downloaded from swissmasaius.com the other day and you have to keep your back straight and your core engaged while walking and/or jogging with them even while going uphill and downhill. Your running stride has to change to in order to get the benefits from the shoe (most of us tend to make long steps and this makes us arch our back) I was fascinated as I was reading. You basically have to get training to learn how to get used to them. The company has training seminars and all. Hey and if you get a 45% discount you'll be paying $110 which is basically what you would pay for a new pair of reaaally good sneakers. If you decide to get them please let me know if they're worth it or not.

RE: Ok I found the US website

Good Guess!!! I work at Bliss in Soho and 57th, but mainly Soho. I am going to go on the web page now and read alittle more, if it sounds really interestng I think I might order them. If I do, I will definetly keep you posted on how good they are.
lizzy
ps. have you been to the spa?

RE: Ok I found the US website

One of my best friends goes to Bliss (the one on 57th St) every time she travels to NY for business. She also gets the catalog and she sent me a copy. I've never been to the spa, but maybe I'll stop by and get a facial the next time I travel to NY.

PS My friend reaaaally loves the spa. Always talks about how wonderful the treatments are.
