Making ones own pasta.

I was reading the bread making machine post, and it reminded me of making your own pasta.

My DH had bought a pasta maker for me years ago. I decided to dust it off and make a batch. I used semolina flour, chick pea flour (garbanzo beans) with egg whites and a dash of water. They are now hanging on the pasta dryer, drying. I think a white sauce with shrimp (and chick pea pasta) sounds good to me this weekend.

Anyone else make their own pasta out there?

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

My husband and I make our own pasta every now and then. It's a lot of fun! But then my husband is a big foodie, so we are always trying new things to make. Right now he's on a sausage making kick. Those trips to Germany inspired him!

Janie,
I make my own spinach (or kale) pasta all the time. I throw in dried oregano and thyme and some roasted garlic. I use whole wheat flour and no eggs, just water with a little balsalmic vinegar. I've never done any of the other flavors you mention, but this one comes out AMAZING! I usually pair it with roasted vegetables, some chickpeas, really good olive oil, more balsalmic, and sea salt. :9 (I don't salt the pasta or water).

Oh, and BTW, I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! your cat Higgin :) I think I emailed her picture to about 10 people. She's the cutest thing we've ever seen :7
