Magic Bullet or hand-held mixer?

My old blender finally died an excruciating death. (Seriously, the thing was inherited and about 100 years old. Obviously I don't cook much, lol.)

Anyway, I need an apparatus primarily for mixing my recovery/protein drinks and I might want to make smoothies at some point. I'm wondering if it's worth it to get the Magic Bullet or if one of those hand-held models works well?? I don't want to get a huge blender as I have limited counterspace and suspect I would never use it...

Thanks for any feedback.

i have a magic bullet and it is an essential tool for me. i like to use it for protein drinks and i can use it to blend in real fruit so that i am getting them in as well.

Wouldn't be without my magic bullet! Of course I use it for my Cinch drink so it gets a lot if use!!!

Hi:

I had a Magic Bullet but I had a lot of problems w/ it and it finally bit the dust (post warranty) about 2 months ago.

I loved it for smoothies, but for other types of kitchen processing its a bit small.

If you just want it for smoothies and such, its great.

Take care, Lynn M.

We love our Magic Bullet for smoothies, salad dressings, nut chopping, and such.

I also have an immersion blender to smooth out my soups...absolutely love my immersion blender!! dmd

I have a magic bullet and love it. I also have a blender though for larger quantity blending. I hardly use that though. I made a squash soup with my Magic Bullet for lunch today. It is great to use for things like that for one person. I also like it for quick chopping nuts, and things like deviled eggs for Thanksgiving:)I use my magic bullet daily.

Marie,

I love my Magic Bullet! I use it all the time for my protein drink. The kids love it for the smoothies it makes.:)

It also comes in handy to grind coffee beans.

I still have the big blender, but rarely use it anymore.

Marie,
I just bought a Magic Bullet yesterday for making protein shakes and absolutely love the thing! Clean-up was a cinch.

Well, you all convinced me! I just ordered the Magic Bullet.

FYI, if anyone is looking for this product online, the best price I found was at Walgreens.com, because the shipping is free. Amazon wanted $20 for shipping!!!!
