Lower leg/ ankle pain during cardio

Hi Everyone,

I need some advice. I have been doing Cathe tapes for over a year now, and I love the intensity of her workouts. In January, I began a rotation emphasizing cardio and endurance for weight training. The cardio parts of my rotation include Circuit Max, Cardio Kicks, Interval Max and the CTX cardios. I try to do at least 4 or 5 days of cardio. The problem is that lately when I get to about 20 minutes into any cardio workout, I get uncomfortable pain in my lower legs near my ankles. It isn't a muscle burning sensation, it is more like pressure. Then after my workouts, my lower legs throb with pain. I am wondering if this could be a sign that I am overdoing the high intensity cardio. Any suggestions?

Thanks!! -AMY

I would say listen to your body. Those throbbing pains are telling you that you are doing too much. I would try some lower impact for a while.

Yep. Too much high impact cardio.

I get the exact same pain!!! AND it is always from that same rotation...Cardio Kicks, CM, CTX and IMAX!! Especially CM and CK. I have found it very helpful not only to decrease the intensity (or impact) obviously, but also to be very careful to land on my whole foot rather than just bounce around on my toes. Try to land on your heels, you know??

Other than that RICE..icing really does help. If you push on it it is REALLY tender, huh?? You might even have it worse than me though because mine rarely hurt after the workout unless I was pushing on it or hit that part of my ankle somehow. Is it on your lower legs on the inside kinda toward the ankle bone??

YES! It is in that exact spot. I find that when I do step workouts like All Step or Step Intervals, I don't feel the pain as much. I do feel it the worst during CM and CK. Hmm... guess I better tone it down a notch or change my rotation. Thanks for your input.
