Lower Body Blast vs. Butts and Guts

Oh, that's a tough choice...I really like both of those. I would have to say Butts and Guts by a slim margin due to the four million lunges you do and the killer floor work. But LBB is SO well-rounded (ha ha!) and includes barre work as well. I got fabulous results from both, but I did B&G for a few years before LBB came out, so I know it does the job. I'm always getting compliments on my backside, so that has to tell you something about the workouts!

Thank you! I have B&G but I want to get LBB also! Those lunges are killer! I can barely do the "little" plié hops at the end! They don't feel so little on the thighs! Lol :) TurboBarre has helped build my rear a little but I'm trying to step it up because I'm still not getting the results I'm looking for, hopefully one day I'll get compliments like you! :) Keep up the good work and thank you again for your helpful response!

Get LBB for sure! It's fantastic, and also a different style than B&G, so it's nice to have both for variety.

I know what you mean about those little plié hops. I can barely move by that point! Those may or may not end up being deep plié a lot of the time with very little hop... Keep up the good work! Those cheeks will rise to the occasion before you know it!

I just remembered something. Way back when I did The Firm, before I discovered Cathe, was when I saw the most dramatic changes in my hiney. I swear it was from all the heavy leg presses onto the 14 inch step. After I started doing Cathe exclusively, I lost a lot of that definition, and the only thing I could think that caused it was the loss of all those leg presses in every single workout (because, seriously, Cathe's workouts wipe the floor with The Firm in terms of intensity and quality). Anyway, I started doing set of leg presses on my own during every workout, and voilá! My booty went back to where I liked it! I testify to the awesomeness of the heavy leg press!

So maybe try putting those into your routine each day. I wouldn't worry about over-training that area; I did them every day for years, and all it gave me was a great butt. :p :D Use a 14 inch step, a couple of heavy dumbbells (I use a total of 40 lbs), and do 2-3 sets of 16 on each side. Step off the back and bend both knees to 90° (as close you can get with the back leg anyway), pressing through the heel on the step to raise and lower your body. Good luck!!

Thank you both! I will have to invest in a high step! I've just been doing the videos with a 4 inch step, I suppose that would explain why I'm not seeing a big change, huh? Lol i still have a lot to learn, luckily I have you lovely ladies to give me tips along the way! I'm sure that will make a big difference :) is there a specific brand you recommend? I just have an old used one I got from play it again sports that doesn't even have risers :-/

I have the original Firm Fanny Lifter, which you can get on their website. I also have Cathe's club step and high step, which you can make to 14 inches with five risers plus the topper.

Okay! Hopefully I can track one down on craigslist or eBay! I really appreciate your input!

You know, I have two steps besides the fanny lifter. If you'll cover the shipping, I'd be happy to send my extra to you. It's missing one rubber stopper on the bottom, but it doesn't affect the stability at all since there are three other stoppers.

Thank you so much for your kind offer! I would be glad to take you up on it. How would I go about getting the shipping cost to you?

I'm on PayPal, if you have a PayPal account, or you could just put it in the mail. I will check in shipping costs tomorrow and get back with you. I'll seek out the cheapest option, of course.

I don't have a PayPal but would be happy to set up an account if that is the preferable option for you. I can't thank you enough!

You can send a check or cash in the mail if you don't want to set up PayPal. It makes no difference to me. I'm good either way. I'll let you know tomorrow about the shipping. :) Yay for new stuff!

Butts & Guts has a bonus chapter with leg presses where she uses the high step @ 14" a weight, and simple minds "don't you forget about me" <3 So excited when I found it on the dvd after having done the workout many times clueless it was there.

I didn't know that either! I've never done the premixes on that one. I should explore those more often!

I can't highly recommend Afterburn enough. While Butts and Guts and LBB are excellent workouts, neither one gives me DOMS in the glutes and thighs every single time like Afterburn does: I did Afterburn two days ago and my inner thighs and glutes are still tremendously sore.
