Low Max

I recently did Low Max again, I can't believe how amazing it is..

I told Cathe at the Daytona 2019, how I really like Low Max and ask her how she got the idea. I think she thought I was a little crazy how much I really liked it!

No, I am not suggesting another Step DVD because we already have it. And I think the group is ready to kill me for going on and on about step. I can't help it I am a Stepalcholic!!

To those how are having a hard time with IMAX3 and StepSync, try Low Max. It is long like 70 mins, but there are premixes so you don't have to do all of it.

It has combo with step blast afterwards, but what I like about it you are not jumping over the step!

Thanks,
Jen Den

Hey Jen Den
I appreciate your love for Step and like reading about it , after all that's how I found Cathe ! :)
I love the choreography in Low Max and when short on time will do the premix of step combos only which is about 44 mins, it's great !

Brigitte :)

Step is how I found Cathe too. Low Max was one of my early Cathe workouts....I think of it as my first "big girl" Cathe workout as I was able to do more advanced blasts and cardio. :) I started out doing the Intervals 1-4 premix and worked my way up from there.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Low Max. I go to it when I want a long, old school step workout!

Just finished this workout today after having not done it in full for probably a couple of years. I've done the step-only premix a few times, but wanted to make sure I was including the blasts and wanted to push myself to do the full routine instead of a time-saver.

Forgot how much I love the workout. I love the music and I love the moves. They're all very do-able. And YES, this workout, when doing the blasts, can definitely sort of fill in as a leg endurance day. No weights being used, but she really fries your legs. Especially that nasty set of pulsing lunges into kicks in the second blast. My support leg is always about ready to call it quits by the time she finishes that 15-count pulse then asks you to do some more lunge-kicks.

I am always super-sweaty and pleasantly fatigued by the end of the workout. It reminds me of how I felt after long training runs I did when I was prepping to do a half-marathon.

Grateful I got this workout.

Hello, I have been doing Cathe DVDs for about 20 years. I got into the best shape of my life doing STS (original) many times. Also Xtrain and Ripped. My life took a dramatic change these last 3 years and stopped exercising. I want to get back into shape. I am no 71 so I realize I need to go slow. I am a streaming member so I have access to all workouts.

Where should I start?

Welcome back!

If you're starting from ground zero, I'd recommend the following progression: (This is also assuming you've got your doctor's clearance)
  1. Lift, Move, and Restore series
  2. Lift, Move, and Restore Elevated series
  3. LITE series
  4. ICE series
  5. XTrain series
I'd follow her simple one- or two-month rotations in each of the Users Guides (see link), depending on how quickly your body is adapting to the increased activity. When you get to ICE, you may want to start layering on intensity with her more challenging rotations that include the Blizzard Blasts, but don't do that until you've first done the workouts without the Blizzard Blasts (the "Level One" and "Level Two" rotations).

If you're wanting to start back into heavier weight work, you can also start incorporating STS 2.0 perhaps as soon as finishing up LITE.

This isn't a specific recommended approach, just how I'd handle it if I were in a similar situation. :)

Hope this helps!
