Low Max: tell me if I am a total moron!!

:)
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I am determined not to give up! I am just one of those Type A personalities that just HAS TO LEARN IT PERFECTLY so on those particular moves I was losing the whole heart rate/cardio benefit because I was stopping and going so slow to learn the steps. Honestly I think the best thing for me is on my days off with new step videos to take an hour and go through it, without attempting to have an actual session. This way I can learn, HOPEFULLY the tricky moves!!
I've heard too many great things about Low Max to give up. LOL this is one of the reasons I work out at home; I am one of those that for some reason cannot coordinate with a class- for the same reason I don't do the whole line dancing thing!!!

Have a great Sunday!

I felt the same way the first few times I did LowMax. Keep at it and you'll get it. What helped me most is a trick my daughter (a competitive gymnast) taught me. She calls it "mental choreography" and it's like cueing yourself. I talk myself through the more complicated step segments - things like the reverse mambo, I'll say "up, two, three, four, five, six, cha cha cha". It takes me a few times (ok - a lot of times) to figure out what I need to cue myself with, but once I figure that out, I can follow the steps more easily.

Good luck!

Well I agree a challenge is good but you should not be challenged by the choreography...old or new user to Cathe. Any fitness professional should provide some level of cuing before engaging in a workout set or interval for their audience - it's courtesy.

Please don't feel like a moron. I have 2 left feet and it took me a week to get it. It just clicks eventually. Combo # 3 is too dancy for it's own good ! That one is all over the place :-( so i'm still learning that one. Just practice them one at a time even if it does take 3 months to learn one. I started with Basic step, then graduated to low impact step though ! I think those are good step videos to start with so that you can get familiar with her choreography.
