Low Max on 8-inch step!

Man oh man!!!! I've been doing this on a 6-inch step so decided to quit being such a "weenie," take it up a notch, and go for the 8-inch this morning...OMG...what a difference...and I only did the 1-4 premix!!! I may have to work myself up to doing the whole thing on 8 inches, LOL...whatta workout! :)

I was also surprised how much of a difference an 8 inche step made. A couple weeks ago I did Low Max but I forgot to add the extra set of risers to make it 8 inches. I thought to myself, "man, my cardio capacity has improved enormously" and then I realized I had used a 6 inch step. What a huge difference. Keep working on that higher step; you'll get to the last interval eventually, I have no doubt.

I did the opposite the other day. I was doing Imax 2 and thought, I must be getting sick, I can hardly do this. Then I realized I had it on 8 inches instead of six. Boy was I relieved.

Not Low Max, but I just did one of the "Classic " workouts on 8"'(I'd been using 6" for most of my step workouts). It seemed tougher than the steady-state work in IMAX2 or IMAX3 (but not as tough as the intervals!)

Hey Terri!

Hang in there. LowMax is a great workout. I am always drenched with sweat after this one - it has become my second favorite after IM#2.

You can do it!

Tammy

Heya Tammy!! Good to "see" ya! :) Girl, PLEASE...I'm usually drenched in sweat with this one doing in on 6 inches! lol It's a tie for me, too, only not just with Imax 2, but also with Step Blast...love those! :) By the way, I never did get around to actually doing the HC rotation! lol I HAVE been "workin' it" hard, though! :)

See, now, you girls are amazing...I usually do all my other step workouts on just the 4-inch step, without any risers, and so far have felt like I've gotten a great workout...esPECIally with something like Imax 2! lol And I'm having a hard time doing Imax 3, period! LOL I may start trying to do a few of the others on 6 inches though...guess it's about time I see if I can actually handle it! :)

Hey, anyone who loves GS: Legs is "workin' it" hard - LOL! Now that one just about kills me!

Tammy

TerryMia-

I know what you mean!! I did it the first time by mistake, though. The next time you do it might feel easier (maybe because you'll be expecting it to be hard). I started the increase by doing 1-4, like you, on an 8 inch, then pausing and going down to 6 inches for the rest of the workout.

Good luck!

Hi Terry!

This is one of my favs. 8" really does make a difference doesn't it! You're doing great. I have been known to tack on eigher 1-4 or 4-7 on a running day. You could incorporate these premixes with maybe a stretch day, longer ab day, upper body strength, or shorter cardio...just ideas...see ya hopefully in October:)

BTW...don't you think we should fly Tammy down for the St. Louis visit ;-)

That would be so much fun! Wish I could be there with you ladies....

Tammy

Sami...Girl!!! You do the 1-4 or 4-7 premix on an 8-inch step on a RUNNING day? You're an animal!!! LOL I usually DO tack on something to my 1-4 or 4-7 days but it's usually some yoga! LOL

And YES!!! Tammy, you should fly down for our get-together!!! That would be TOO much fun! :)

Hi Amy....IF I ever do the entire workout on 8 inches, that's probably what I'll wind up doing...the second part of the workout on 6 inches! :)

Hi Terry!!
How are you? Sounds like you did a great job this morning. You're right about having to work yourself up to 8 inches. It takes a while to adjust to an 8 inch step. Especially if you have shorter legs like me. Rhonda always makes it look so easy on DVD. It's amazing how much 2 inches can be. A few weeks ago I was doing Rhythmic step and thought "Gee I don't remember this workout making me work quite this hard". Almost to the end I realized I was using 8inches not 6 like Cathe was. It made it feel like a whole new workout. I read on here once that some people were trying to do IMAX 3 on 8 inches. I bow down humbly to them.:) :) :)

Jana!!! Hi, girl, how are YOU? :)) You're another one who should fly here for our St. Louis get-together!!! It'd be like "old home week!" lol Listen...I bow down humbly to all of you gals who even DO Imax 3, period, LOL!!! I'm really havin' to work myself up to that one! :)

Hey Jana :) Sami came up with the idea for a few of us St. Louisans (and those close by), to get together for dinner sometime in October (maybe 10/1)...haven't decided yet on the location or time...we were saying you and Tammy should fly in! :)

Terry,
It sounds great but I have a wedding on 10/1 and I believe that I'll be on call that weekend at work. What a great idea. It would be nice to be able to see each other once in a while.

:)
