Low Carbers & Friends - Nov 2011

Lita, you live in WY? I thought winters were a lot worse, I imagined temps constantly below zero and digging your way through deep snow. So why don't I move there? Hmmm, I can deal with 30/40 degrees in the winter.

Melinda - I grew up in PA and the winters back there are FAR worse than anything out here ! Yes, we do get cold. But not much snow or rain - we only average 9" of precipitation a year. I remember 3 snows over 8" in the 20+ years I've been here - and 2 of those were gone in a day or two thanks to a Chinook coming in :). We get cold snaps, but they don't last. The sun shines 95% of the year. Not shabby at all, even if we do get wind now and again ;).

However, having said all that, we just had a cold front come over last night and are only in the teens so far today :p...

OK, so what part of WY do you live in or is the state pretty much the same. DH and I are going to have to vacation out there and check it out!

Oh no - the state is definitely varied :)! Many breathtakingly beautiful parts - but like all states, we do have some "armpits" in there, too :p. I live outside the east gate of Yellowstone National Park. Of course, the park is a HUGE draw but there are more gates than just ours. There's also Jackson (Jackson Hole) where the Tetons are. I haven't really seen much of the state - but there are a plethora of beautiful things to see here in the NW corner where I live. Unfortunately, working & real life interfered too soon after I came here ;) so I couldn't hang out and play tourist for months like I'd have enjoyed.

Lita, I think when we live in an area, we often don't see the places that tourists do and we're right next to it! We lived in Jacksonville, FL for 6 mo when DH was in the navy and went to the beach only a handfull of times.

I did PUB today and matched almost all of Cathe's weights, that was unexpected. Haven't been doing any real strength workouts, most are more the endurance weight work, not real heavy like STS. I'm thinking about doing the STS meso 3 soon, just to heavy up a bit.

Hi babes! I think I need to move to WY too! Sun 95% of the time? That would sure help my SAD here. I think we're cloudy 95% of the time! :p Our temps are mild but I say every year that I want to be a snowbird when I retire! DH's parents do that.

Rhea, has that new employee started yet? Chop chop I say! We need you here! :D

Melinda, I completely understand DH's frustration. That's insane what he's having to deal with!! I can't order a pencil at work--I'd get into trouble. I sure hope he finds someone who knows what the heck to do. I hope he keeps searching. Maybe he can call someone in another office who has his same position and that person can help. I hope things get better!!!

Lita, what workouts are you doing this week? I did Cathe's Yoga abs and then more Insanity at lunch. I still haven't tried LIC yet but want too! Insanity works my legs the most so my booty usually needs a rest. I may have to wait until all of this Insanity bizness is over before trying it!

Here's to a healthy week! (Which goes double for me since I've been eating pretty badly lately!)

Melinda - Glad you know what I mean on the tourist thing :). Way to go on that PUB !!!!

Tracy - Come on down :D! Now I will warn you, we are only 2º right now ;)... I'm still doing the new series 3x a week with walking 5x a week. As for LIC, I figured I'm gonna blow it off for now. Any step hurts my hips so why bother with the frustration, right :p?

Rhea - Sure do miss you :(! Hope you're hanging in there!

Tracy, SAD is a real issue here. Ohio is a very cloudy state. I remember one year we didn't have sun for over a month.

I didn't try the LIC yet, got side tracked, but will let you all know what I think when I finally do. Probably some weight work today, I took yesterday off. DH saw me doing Afterburn from the new series and said he should try that. I was SHOCKED! I think he sees those disks as a real challenge.

Hi babes! Melinda, I didn't know Ohio was a SAD state! I thought it was WA and Oregon for the most part! Everyone around here perks up when the sun is out. We haven't had rain here for 2 weeks but we're cloudy for the most part. We're supposed to get some sun tomorrow and that would be awesome! Did DH try Afterburn? I love the disc work in the new series.

2 degrees Lita? But is it sunny? :) I took BB to the dog park yesterday and it was about 34 degrees. I dunno if he'd wanna run around if it was only 2. Or if I want to stand outside when it's 2! :D

I'm still doing the new series when I can. I plan to do LIC tomorrow on my day off. I'll let you know if I survive it OK!

Rhea! Come back!! :(

I hope you all are enjoying the holidays with very minimal stress!!

Tracy - Actually, MI is quite a SAD state, too, or so I've been told by people who move here from there. Nice to know the misery is shared by millions, isn't it :p ;)? Yes, it was sunny - so 2 degrees isn't that bad ! I'd far rather have 2 and sunny than 20s w/ a breeze like it was the next day! How did LIC go? I'm curious what you and Melinda think of it :)!

Rhea - Miss you a LOT :(!

Melinda - Hope things are still going okay on your end!

Hi everyone.

I have yet to do the LIC, but did do slide and glide yesterday. I'm getting better at those discs, but those pushups with legs moving on discs can only go so far. I actually collapsed in the middle of a move on the ground. Guess I hit the wall. I never really do that, usually just stop before I get to that point. The discs are sooo disceptive!

Packing for my trip out east for work. I'm going to do some total body weight work today and then just take Wed and Thur, possibly Fri off from exercise. These days out there will be long and I'm not going to try this to bring something for exercise.

Melinda - Some of those moves are definitely killer ! Wise plan for your trip! Sounds like there'll be enough to keep you busy while you're there! Travel safe - we'll miss you :(!

I really have been here, just able to lurk every other day or so. My new employee starts up tomorrow, so soon I might actually be able to have some time to play a little more! I've been extremely good and been outta bed early in the am and working out. Been doing Meso Cycle #1. I just received P90X2, so I think that will start up next week.

Well, back to work. Talk to you all later. Melinda - hope your trip is great! Don't work too hard.

So glad you could pop in, Rhea :D!!!!!!!!! Hope your new employee gets right with the program so you can have a break now and again! You deserve extra credit for getting up early for those workouts, too !

Boy my arms are noodles this morning! I did STS legs yesterday and decided to go ahead and do chest, shoulders and arms today. I also heavied up a bit at the beginning, total rubber muscles now. Plus the darn DOMS is kicking in for the legs. Thought I was going to get away with none this time, hah!

Got P90X2 delivered last week, was a bit of a surprise since I had preordered and didn't think it was going to be here until closer to the end of the year. That's going to be a great tough program, lots of stretching this time during the actual workouts I think. I like that, I never do enough because I always run out of time in the morning.

Well, back to work (besides this is about as long as I can hold my arms up to type!! LOL)

Wow - sounds like you worked it well this morning AND yesterday, Rhea ! Good for you, girl :D! I like the ones w/ extra stretching too - it's so hard to fit in otherwise !

Hi babes! Good to see you Rhea! I too hope that your new employee can jump right in and give you some much needed down time!! I am interested in how you like P90X2 too so let me know when you try it! Since I've been working out at work more these days, I'm not getting the stretching in I need either.

I did LIC from the new series and boy! My legs were FRIED! There is a learning curve to the moves, so beware! I had to rewind a few times. If you want a really quick leg workout that will do the trick though, just do the Blast part from that workout. It incorporates the step but the moves are simple. It's about 10 minutes and tough!

Lita, we have had literally no rain for 2 weeks here! That's unheard of! Cold mornings for us, 28 degrees or so. Today we got a little rain and I took BB out for a few minutes and sweated to death in 44 degree weather. I would like sun at 44 degrees. I guess I need to move back to CA for that! :p

Don't work too hard on the east coast Melinda! Hope you can enjoy some holiday decorations there.

Later sweet babes!

Tracy - Or, you could move here ;). We mostly have sun in 44 degrees, and 4 degrees, and .....:p. And you can count the days of rain on one hand for the most part . Course, that means we have a really dry environment which is tough on the skin, believe me . I've already tried LIC and didn't care for it. Thanks for the heads up on the blast part but unless it can be done on the floor, it won't be for me either :). I refuse to be in pain all the time because I feel guilty for not doing step work anymore. Life is too short !

I'm too late to edit my last post  but I wanted to say I did the blast section from LIC and it wasn't bad at all choreography wise :). So at least I have combos 1 - 3 and the blast I can do. So a big ole raspberry to combo 4 :p! I only use LIC as an add on so the parts I can do are just fine .
