Low Carbers & Friends - Nov 2011

Well, I have officially made it through our busy season at work, darn near killed me. I am taking next Wed off before Thanksgiving, we're having dinner here. I really am looking forward to getting my mind on something else besides work.

I have missed a few days exercise this week. Sat looks like it'll be sunny and in the 50's so we may go for a bike ride.

DH is going to quit his job, I'm not happy about it because I'm mostly concerned that it will be a long time until he finds something else. Full financial situation on my shoulders. I don't make nearly as much as him. Won't even have any more unemployment to supplement my income. And right before the holidays. :( I don't know what's happening to him and his thinking.

(((Melinda)))!!!! I am so sorry he's quitting - and especially at this time of year :(. I am so glad your busy season is over and that's behind you - but it looks like you just have a different kind of stress now !!!

Thanks, Lita. I feel like I'm in limbo with life.

Saturday I did the turbo bar workout. I sure felt the burn on the legs. I think that would be a good traveling dvd, you could do that turbo part in a hotel easily. I may try that.

I'll be you do, Melinda :(! And just when things were settling down....

That's a good idea w/ Turbo Barre :). It definitely works the legs differently than standard weights do!

Hi babes!

Melinda, I'm glad you survived your busy season!!! But I am so sorry DH is going to quit his job! I would be in limbo too. I hope he changes his mind and either gives it a second chance or finds something else before quitting this job. Big hugs to you!!!!! :(

Rhea, I hope you had a wonderful day to yourself and you get some more of those!! Good luck on your holiday challenge too! I could use a challenge but honestly, I have no motivation to do one! :p

I was able to get BB outside yesterday and today for a run. We're in the high 30s and I thought that was cold until I read it was only 5 degrees in WY Lita!!

I did Turbo Barre last week and really liked it. Felt it in my legs as well ladies! It froze during the stretch though and after emailing with cust support here, they are going to send me a new one. Yippee!

Oh and Lita, even though BB is young, his energy level may be going down. Already! He's been sleeping alot today and I know he's fine. I know of one person who has a cavalier that said it was the laziest dog he had ever seen. Hee hee!

I have Weds. off too and will be packing up BB and DH and myself to head to Portland. I think BB has more crap to pack than I do! :D

Lita and Rhea, what are your Thanksgiving plans?

Take care babes!

Tracy - Yes, we have a bit of winter going on here . Unusual for us - and I'm not liking it :p! I am so glad they're replacing your DVD! No plans for Thanksgiving - right now just hoping I can get a turkey breast in time . This storm got me off track....

LIta - we have that winter thing going here too. Yep, Friday I watched sappy movies on Hallmark channel all day. I don't think I worked out. Can't remember.

Melinda - sorry to hear about DH. He must really dislike it to quit so soon.

Tracy - just hanging out at Thanksgiving. I don't think my sister will make it because we are supposed to have snow Weds and Thurs, so no travel over mountains. She has to work on Weds and Fri. I have to work Weds. Darn courts used to take off this week, but nooooo, new judge, keeps working. I think they'll learn after a few years that it is just better to keep certain days dark.

Well, better get back to work. See ya!

Rhea - That sounds like a marvelous Friday !!! I think your winter weather is to last a lot longer than mine from what the Weather Channel was saying this weekend. Good for people who ski, if nothing else. That silly judge, anyway :(!

Hi everyone,

So no gloom and doom at the moment here in Ohio (other than rain). DH talked to the guy that used to have his job and then someone gave him some help on something and now he says he wants to wait a little longer before quitting. No bad texts from him the past 2 days. He is taking me on an emotional roller coaster for sure.

I have Wed off. We are having dinner here. Going to get things ready tomorrow in the house. My parents just live a few blocks away, so no traveling for our family.

Tracy, I had that freezing with the turbo barre workout. I had to restart it and then it was ok, must be more of an issue if you had problems too. That is good if BB can slow down a bit. We have a cat that was a stray and is 1 1/2 yrs old and still pretty fiesty, I'd like her to calm down some more, but may be another year.

Lita and Rhea, all I have to say is I'm glad it's not winter here yet. In fact we are having sun and 60 on Friday! No complaints here. Means a chance for a bike ride. I would really love a mild winter, so far no ice or anything like that yet and I'm not complaining.

I have to go to RI in Dec for work, hoping the bad stuff will hold out for the East until I get home!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Melinda - Fingers crossed (along with eyes and toes!) that things continue in a positive trend ! I hope you have a mild winter, too - last winter was kind of dicey for you, wasn't it? I am spoiled out here - so I guess if I get it now and again, I'll live :p.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Melinda :)!

And to Rhea and Tracy, too, of course :D! - and may your family give you much to be thankful for ;).

Just one more post before I start cleaning the house! I did cardio supersets from the new workouts. Has anyone done that yet? I just loved it, I got sweaty and felt the disc part was great. Anyways, just wanted to hear what you all thought. I just did the 41 min workout, didn't do the step part.

Melinda - I really like that one too - it's one of my faves! MUCH better than the frustrating LIC one ! Actually, I like most of these which is really surprising when it's not my favorite kind of workout :p.

I don't remember if I liked Cardio supersets or not. Have I done it? I think I did, but LIC has me going just to get it down. Maybe I'll plop it in for Thurs' cardio. I've been doing STS with cardio on the off days. Also been working too hard again, or not enough, depending on the client. I just don't really give a rats arse anymore.lol, jk

Rhea - Cardio SS is really easy choreography, even for me :)! It's a good one when you just want to get in and get it done - no muss, no fuss. As I recall, it's the shortest one, too, if you're pressed for time  - something like 41 minutes or so. Of course you care - we know you better than that! As for those clients - you know what they say about not being able to please all the people all the time ;). I know you're doing a great job - so there :D!

Hi babes! I just did Cardio Supersets for the first time today. I really liked it! It was quick, and didn't kill me. :) I really like this series too, definitely a favorite!

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! We went out for dinner (just rain and wind to deal with) and none of us ordered the traditional turkey dinner. Probably because it's never as good as your own. :) And I was truly grateful that we got through it without falling apart because my mum wasn't there. And my sister's partner wasn't the PIA she usually is so that was a double bonus! :D

Now I need to change my attitude about Christmas because I couldn't care less about it at the moment!

Rhea, I'm glad you had a great day off! Hope your winter is calming down and that workaholic judge is seeing the errors of his ways!!

Melinda, I am sorry you are on an emotional roller coaster with DH and his job! :( I imagine he's on a roller coaster of his own too. I hope the bad texts stop altogether! Enjoy your weather!

Lita, I'm sorry you're getting winter! I hate it when the weather mucks things up!

We're going to dry out tomorrow and have almost a week of sun! Unbelievable for this area! Maybe it will help my disposition!

Still doing the Insanity series sporadically at work and will be happy when it's over! (End of Dec.)

Have an awesome week babes! (Shoot, it's almost half over already!) :p

Tracy - I am so glad the day went well ! I was wondering since I knew it would be a toughie without your mom.... Glad the GF wasn't being her usual PIA self, too!

Melinda - You hanging in there, girl :)?

Rhea - Quit working and come chat a bit :D!

Sorry, can't come play. I have trial. Maybe next week. I did hire a new person and as soon as he can get here, I might even be able to have more than one day off!

Oh phooey, Rhea :(! Hope that help soon arrives for you!!! I miss you but hope your trial goes well and you kick some butt in there :D!

I am hanging in here. DH is still employed at the moment but very frustrated. Part of his problem is he doesn't have access to things he's suppose to manage and it is like pulling teeth to get anyone that can help him. In fact, for example, he had something that required a product code to access. For example, it would be like if you needed to read a word doc and so you didn't have that loaded on your work computer and didn't have the key so you can't read any documents people send you. No one can help him, they told him to call the help desk and the help desk told him to call the manufacturer and purchase it. WHAT! That is crazy. He works for a HUGE national company and I don't believe it is protocol for him to order something and charge it to them. Heck, my company officially only has 55 full time employees and I'd NEVER do something like that, the IT people would get me set up. So that is just one of the many issues he has to deal with on a daily basis. They said next week he will be officially in charge of all these projects, yet he can't even read documents about them or learn about them. Makes no sense. He has been there since the end of Oct. He says he feels like it's the Seinfeld episode where George managed the "Pensky" file and all he did was make it look pretty, punch holes in it, make it look neat and then slept all day at work. My husband is not ok with this type of situation.

So on to working out. You all are talking about LIC and I haven't tried that yet, so I will do that today and see what it's about.

Hang in there Rhea, you sound busy, busy, busy.

Tracy, I think I'd be glad for the intensity series to be over. I was surprised you still have all of Dec to go. We have sun the next few days, so may get to bike ride this weekend.

Lita, are your winters mainly cold, not a lot of snow? I don't like either, I think we'll be snow birds some day when we retire and dodge as much snow as we can.

Oh gosh, Melinda, what a mess for DH to deal with :(! No wonder he's frustrated! Actually, we have mild winter compared to you guys :). We get a week here or there with frigid temps but usually we're in the 30s/40s during winter. Our biggest weather woe is the wind (although it can bring a Chinook which is a great thing). And I tell ya, it can add quite the cardio to the old walking workout :p!
