Low Carbers & Friends - June 2011

Hi babes! Thank you for keeping us up to date Lita baby! :D

Reece, I am so sorry you got an infection but very glad you went to the ER when you did! I have heard of dry sockets, but not an infection to go with it--ouch!!!! Did you feel well enough to start school yesterday?

Melinda--how did your test go? We're supposed to get up to the mid 70's this weekend--that will be a miracle for us! They originally said 80 but it turned out that it was too good to be true. :p I'm glad you have a mantra--DH needs one! He worries about everything and has to go to sleep with the radio on to turn off his mind! He worries a lot about BB (who happens to be sick with something right now) so it's probably a good thing we never had kids!

Hi Rhea! I hope your kitties have stopped moving your stuff around! Like Melinda, I do much better working out in the afternoons. Have you started P90X? I've done a few snippets of it, the instructor never stops yakking! But it's definitely a challenge.

Lita, what is your workout week looking like? Mine is kinda weird as usual! Walked 2 hours with a friend on Sunday, Took BB for a walk/run on Monday and PUB yesterday. Dunno if I'll get anything done today since DH is working late. Goodness! One day at a time these days!

Oh, to have one more day in the week to do whatever I want.... :D

Hi everyone!

Pretty busy here between work and workouts and unpacking. I guess i have enough to keep me out of trouble. I did start P90X; I have some of his workouts and he is a gabber. Cracks me up, he even tries to be quiet in one of them and it only lasted about 5 seconds. He laughed and said I just can't be quiet can I? He is just too hyper. But great workouts, I've been pretty fried this week. I had to take two days off between a workout so that my hip flexors could rest and recover.

Reese - hope you are feeling better.

Melinda - how was that test? Warm weather?k I'm jealous. It snowed again this morning. err.

Tracy - you haven't been getting all this wet stuff? How did you luck out?

Lita - how is it over there? Anything new and exciting with you?

Well, I had better get back to work. I'm off to San Fran tomorrow through Monday, so won't be around a whole lot even though I'm taking the ipad with me. I might be able to post, just don't know. I think I actually have to bring work with me so I can catch up.

Tracy - Still walking/biking every day with weight work thrown in. I did do a short cardio yesterday but my hips are making me pay for it.... This week I did PUB, High Reps, STS TB. I think HR & STS TB are too similar for my liking but.... I didn't do all of STS TB - just my own picking of stuff.

Rhea - Exciting? Not much. New? My roommate broke both her legs. Sometimes I think no news really is the best news ;) :p! BTW - we hit the 80s yesterday and the 70s today but back to the 50s tomorrow, so you're not the only one still bouncing around. Thankfully the snow is all yours, though so far, this week, anyway :D!

OK, so I'm glad I don't have snow. We definitely won't have any until winter. It was awful for about 3 days, in the 90s with high humidity. Now it's WONDERFUL! Around 80 degrees with low humidity (for us). Have been biking/walking and doing STS.

Got a 94 on my test!

I'm taking a day off work next week and we are going biking on a new trail. It's 14 miles long one way, we'll probably do 20 miles. I've got a basket on the bike so I'll pack a picnic lunch. I'm looking forward to it.

Lita, how did your room mate break both her legs. That is awful. How does she manage to get around? Do you bike outside or inside?

Rhea, my coworker lives downtown San Francisco in an apartment, next to one of the bridges. I've never been there, but pictures look nice.

Tracy, that is not good that DH is worrying about BB. Oh, my! It is way worse with kids, they get into a lot more stuff!

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Way to go on that test, Melinda :D!!!!! I hope it's not to hot for your bike ride next week! That sounds like a romantic time with DH, though ;). I surely would NOT want the heat and humidity you have going on back there ! As for my roommate, she is disabled and let's just say we hit a major snag getting her out of bed one morning a couple weeks ago . So between weak bones and legs twisting the wrong way... voila.

Hi babes! I did not escape the rain this past week but we were 80 degrees and sunny all day yesterday--yippee! Today is not as nice but we got a good walk/run in with BB today around the lake. I was hoping he'd be tired all day after that but he's not!

Awesome test score Melinda!! I think part of DH's worry about the doggie is that he can't tell us what's wrong so we have to guess! He did get pretty sick but he's much better now. Your bike ride sounds excellent--enjoy!! We've thought of getting one of those rolling carts we can put on the back of a bike to haul BB around but I think he'd get too hot and for sure, he'd get no exercise that way. :p

Rhea, I'm so sorry you got snow this past week!! I'm glad you like P90X! That's pretty funny that he admitted he can't shut up. I think it's kind of unusual for a guy to talk all the time really! Say Hi to S.F. for me, I miss that city!

Lita, I am so sorry about your roommate!!! I sure wish she has a speedy recovery and something can be done to make her bones stronger. Poor thing! I hadn't thought that HR and STS TB were alot alike. Hmmm, I'll need to pay more attention!

Hi Reece! Hope you are doing well!!

I did PLB last week and I suffered the after effects for days! Made me feel like I must be really out of shape but I don't think I am. PUB wasn't as mean to me!

Have a safe and healthy week babes!

no exercise this weekend, I'm stressed. School final is June 11, one week away.

Hey, I got a last min job they needed help with at work, so I said I'd go. DH is going with me. It's in Las Vegas! We are leaving in a couple weeks. I'll have to work, but am also taking a few days to myself.

Lita, that sounds rough about the room mate. sorry to hear that. I hope she recovers quickly.

Tracy, I've seen people bike with their dog running, but that could be pretty dangerous unless the dog stayed next to the bike and kept a good pace.

Melinda - I can't believe finals are coming up already ! You most definitely deserve to spend some time having nothing but FUN when you're in Vegas ! Thank you for the wishes :).

Tracy - Amazing how much energy they can have, isn't it :p? I'm so glad you finally got some nice weather :D!

Reese - Hope you're feeling better :)!

Rhea - How goes the move? Hope you're getting closer every day to getting settled in so things can calm down a little :). 'Course, then you'll just decide you just have to start work on a big project, right ;)?

Happy Birthday, Tracy. Hope you have a great day! There are a bunch of people having birthdays that I know.

It is hot here. We made it with no a/c yesterday, but not today. I can't function when it's in the 90s and high humidity. It stinks to go from cool weather to very hot, constantly staying closed up inside :(

Melinda - Hope your weather isn't stuck in summer mode already :(! Sending tons of cool breezy thoughts your way :)!

Well....HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TRACIE!!!!! Hope you had a great one. San Fran was lovely. It did rain a bit, but I was actually too warm. It was funny seeing people all bundled up, for me it was t-shirt weather!

Lita - that is terrible about your roommate. I hope she is on the mend.

Melinda - awesome job on the test. How was that bike ride?

Reece - you disappeared! I hope you are feeling better.

Well, back to work for me. I have a lot to do in the next few weeks and a party to attend (eek, yes, it is for me and its a big one! ) Wanna come? I need all my BFFs with me!

Talk to you later.

Rhea - A party???? It's not your birthday just yet.... Is this a good party? I'd happily come if I could - but I'll have to settle for sending you all the cyber vibes I can while your party is going on :).

Hi Girls,

Sorry I disappeared. Been in the hospital since 5/31. Just got out half hour ago. Not sure when I'll be up for workouts again. I'm shooting for Monday. I know I'll have to start STS over. I had to drop my summer classes. Going in on Monday to negotiate a refund. So far they haven't budged. So far just glad to be home and alive.
Thanks for the get well wishes!

Hi babes! Thank you for the birthday wishes!! I got to go to my favorite wine bar and relax after work and I ordered a dip (because everything you eat on your birthday is calorie-free!) and it was served with cheese puffs! DH brought them and gave them to the owner when I wasn't looking. Too funny!

Rhea--I'll come to your party!! If this is a big birthday, I was told you have to have one party for each decade. So get cracking on more parties! I'll go to all of them. :p And...happy birthday soon!!

Melinda--I heard you guys were having a bad heat wave back east--I hope it cools down for you soon and you get rid of that pesky humidity! I can't take BB for a run while I ride a bike, he's all over the place as it is. :) I'd killl myself, or him, or we'd do both of ourselves in! That's awesome you get to go to Vegas! Be prepared to walk ALOT. The hotels are ginormous and you keep thinking you're getting closer to one and then find you're still blocks away from it. DH and I ended up taking a bus that went up and down the strip continuously. It saved us!

Lita, how is your weather? We're still cooler than normal here but no rain is in the forecast for the next few days--yippee! Most of my exercise this week has been running/walking with BB but today I did the upper body only from High Reps and then the leg conditioning drills from LBB. Yowza! Those drills hurt!

Reece! I am so sorry you ended up in the hospital--you poor girl!!! I'm glad you are OK now!! I hope the school can budge on their stinginess too! Grrr.

Take care sweet babes!

Tracy - I'm glad you're not trying to bike while running BB :). I'm sorry, but I think that's cruel, especially for smaller dogs. One guy goes by my house w/ a mini sheltie and that poor dog is struggling so hard to keep up - not to mention running on pavement (or rocky ground) can tear the pads off the bottom of their feet, especially in the heat. I could just slap that idiot silly every time I see him ! Anyhoo.... thankfully our weather is staying cooler. We've had record rains for us but I would rather have that than record heat !

Reese - I am so sorry you've been so ill :(! I hope you take whatever time you need to get completely well! Exercising too soon is just going to give you a better chance of getting ill all over again :).

My goodness Reese! I am so glad that you are better. That was a long time in the hospital. Take it easy and rest that body. Workouts will be there when you are ready.

Tracy - you can borrow my dog for a bike ride. He is always at a run, riding with a bike would be the only way to keep up with him! I tried to "walk" him yesterday and almost got my arms ripped out of my shoulder a couple of times. My slow job wasn't even fast enough for him. He thought that if I was jogging, it meant go faster!

Lita - a sheltie? Oh, slap him for me. Little doggies are meant for that type of work, only my hyper-active ADD type dog and he is much bigger.

Melinda - are you still heated up over there? We actually have summer now, no snow...knock on wood. I might even where some shorts this weekend.

Believe me, Rhea, if I could catch him I'd slap him for both of us !!! And probably a few more times just for good measure :p! My Dobie could run with a bike for sure (at least, all the faster I ride he definitely could ;) ). He's the one that tore the pads off the bottom of his feet because he loved to run and run and run . So how are things going with you and the move and everything else you have going :)????? AND - when's the party, huh????? You never did tell us all about it!

Hello Ladies,

I made it through my first workout today. Well it was sort of a workout. It seemed really tough though. lol.
Walked 30 minutes, CTX Shoulders and All Step Abs, 10 min Floor Stretch for beginners. I've definitely lost shoulder strength. Oh well. My goal is to work one body part a day with some cardio. I've been in bed for a while so this is going to take time.

Hope all is well with everyone.
