Low Carbers & Friends - Feb - ? - 2013

Tracy - How exciting for you ! It's been a long time coming - so glad it's almost here :D! I finished week 7 today (the 90 day undulating rotation) and will start week 8 on Thurs.

Rhea - You are so funny :p! That's my favorite part about this rotation - a lot of shorter workouts :D. Six days a week is punishment enough, I think! Gotta tell you, I have not yet done (and don't plan to do) the longest workout (entire legs w/ barre & delts). I've even done just the barre & no floor work on disk 3 when I haven't had the time to do it all. Works for me, anyway ;)...

Tracy, that is great news about the house! I know this has been a long process for you and it will be nice to get settled in soon. BTW, I live in Columbus as well.

Rhea, glad you are feeling better, good luck with the jogging. I am doing the undulating rotation, but got off schedule. In fact, I accidently started on the wrong week this week because it looked so similar to last weeks. It's a good rotation, but I don't like that 80 min premix with the legs and back stuff, like Lita was talking about. I've done it once or twice, just don't like an 80 min workout, it is mentally taxing.

Lita, I love these premixes because if you are short on time you can still follow the rotation but just cut out a part and maybe do it another day. I also really like this booklet she made with the workouts, I use it all the time to see what I'm in for.

So I thought I had done all of this series workouts, but I hadn't. I finally did the supercuts workout and really liked it. I also like the Taba workout, haven't done the whole thing yet, just premixes.

I saw that it's less than 3 weeks until daylight savings! yea! Winter is in full force here, been in the 20's. At least no big snow dumps, but I'm sick of it. Should be in the 40s this weekend, so I'm hopeful.

Have a good rest of the week.

Hi babes! Thanks for your warm wishes for my upcoming move! I don't have a definitive date yet but should know soon. I think the inspection will be next Monday at the earliest. So this weekend will be filled with more packing. :D

Since you babes are doing the undulating rotation, I need to do it too! Don't know how it will go but I'll give it a whirl! I tend to stick to the same workouts so a rotation would be good for me.

Did you all get the email from Cathe requesting ideas for a greatest hits DVD? I put one together and posted it on her FB page, along with 80 of my closest Cathe friends. :p I didn't read any others but I bet there were 80 different ideas! If you have an idea, post it! You can do it on the forums somewhere too.

Workouts have been kind of a bust this week but I have taken BB out for a run the last 2 evenings. I think I'll do Upper Body Tri-sets tomorrow.

Melinda, that's great news about Daylight Savings time coming soon! we're all sick of being in the dark up here.

Have a heathy rest of your week!

Melinda - So glad to see you ! Yes, this last release was a winner all around, IMHO :D. Hope the next one is just as good ;).

Tracy - My gosh, anal preview girl already put together a workout ??? Just kidding you :p. I am not going to do it - I would be swamped with papers on every workout trying to find the ultimate combo . (See - *I* am the anal one on this!)

Wonder what the new workouts are going to be like......

Hey Melinda! Great to see you! Only three weeks until daylight savings? Yippee!!

Okay, I have to confess. I did not do the 80 minutes last night. I got through the barre work, started the ball work and said, are you kidding me? I won't be able to walk tomorrow. So I went on to the rear delts, then plugged in Zumba. I still worked out for almost 1.5, but not all legs. I'm really glad I stopped. I'm still a walking lactic acid from head to toe from all the other workouts. I think every muscle in my body is sore.

BTW, how many sets of those darn barre stuff do we do? I kept losing count after the fourth or fifth set of eight!

Rhea - Eight sets of 8 reps for everything except the side leg lift. When the leg is just to the side, it's (mercifully) only 6 sets of 8 reps. Moving back and forth, it's 8 sets of 8 reps, like all the rest. However, I still like the barre work much better than the floor work. I'm much more inclined to include the barre and skip the never ending "pizza presses" ;).

It does seem like that, for sure :p! That's why I started counting ;). But unlike I've caught in 2 other workouts, the sides are actually even so it just seems to be endless for a while .

Well, Cathe's newest workouts look pretty good. Dang her. I will probably pre-order. I'm loving the Xtrain series even though my body may not like it too much (lactic acid... whoo hoo!)

Rhea - I figured you and Tracy would definitely get it ;). I'm always amazed at how much DOMS I get from the upper body workouts when they're so short !

Melinda - How goes school? What do you think of the new series?

Tracy - Hopefully you're even nearer to completion and moving than the last we heard from you :D. I'm sure you'll want the new series, too :).

As for me - I'm not getting it. Just in case anyone wanted to know :p!

Hi babes! We got our occupancy permit and we're getting the U-haul tomorrow--yippee!! We're taking 2 weekends to get cleared out completely and will have time to clean the apt. Although there really isn't any way to make this dump look better....:p

I looked at the undulating rotation with X-Train and it's not feasible for me. I work out in such a tiny room at work and with my new addition of hot flashes, the cardio will leave me in a sweaty puddle on the floor. I don't have time to shower so I normally do weights. I liked one of the rotations I read but now can't remember what it is! Maybe when I get my new workout room set up I can figure out a way to do the cardio ones at home and weights at work. We'll see. :)

Oh, yes, I popped online tonight, saw Cathe's email announcement and preordered, just like you knew I would Lita! :D And perfect timing too. We, I mean DH, hasn't decided which company to get cable and internet from so I don't know when I'll get back here next. I told DH it better not be long or I'm taking my laptop to Starbucks to check in with you! And Cathe's deal ends March 31 so I'm glad I didn't miss it.

Lita, if any of the workouts appeal to you, Cathe is going to have each DVD available for presale sometime after the current presale. But you probably already know that!

Let's see. I threw together the greatest hits dvd idea from some of my favorite segments of hers. So it wasn't hard and I'd be shocked if she uses any of them!

Melinda, hope Spring weather is reaching you early!

Workouts were a bust this week. Did a Tracie Long workout, ran with BB and did another short non-Cathe workout today with one of Cathe's stretch segments. Not as much as I would have liked to have done but I didn't want to overdo it before moving. And my massage yesterday beat me up pretty good so I'm all ready to lift boxes and furniture!

Hope to "see" you soon! Take care sweet babes!

Tracy - How very exciting :D  :D !!!!!!! There was a 30-day weights only rotation (based on 6 day weeks) but I'm sure you could just stretch it out into a longer time peiod to fit your schedule :). Tell DH to get on the stick with that internet - we don't want you out of touch :(!

Hi everyone,

Tracy, such exciting news about the move!!! Heck, you might be 1/2 moved in by the time I've read this.

Lita, I don't think I'm getting the new series either. I really don't want any more step workouts. I do like XTRAIN and am glad I got it. I have mixed up the undulating rotation based on time and how I'm feeling.

Rhea, I do not like workouts over an hour. I think I did that 80 min workout for legs once or twice, but then knocked off stuff after that. I do not like the pizza presses either, didn't mind the standing portion as much.

As for weather, we got a big storm last night. Schools are closed, it's beautiful out. I still have to go to school and take my final for a class I'm in, then I get a break for a week. DH is working from home today and he said he's not shoveling, we are getting temps in the 50s this weekend and it even begins to warm up tomorrow.

Daylight savings this weekend!

Melinda - So glad you could pop in ! I'll bet you're really going to enjoy that time off :). I really do like XTrain but must admit, I'll be very glad when I'm done with the rotation. This 6x a week is a bear cat even if the workouts are shorter ....

So glad that you are finally moving Tracy! Whoo hoo! Hopefully you will be back with us very soon and tell us all about it.

I have fallen of the undulating workout schedule, my treadclimber arrived and it is so nice just to hop on, grab the headphones for the tv and catch up with my shows while I'm walking/climbing etc. I've got to get some weight workouts in though. I think one of my goals today is to come up with some sort of weight dvd choices for a rotation.

We just got a new storm and hopefully it will be melted by next week. It is supposed to warm up a bit! Yeah.

Rhea - So glad to see you ! I'll bet that treadclimber is a handy thing in letting you catch up with your shows. What a deal -you don't even have to feel guilty about sitting around watching TV 'cause you're working out while you do it :D!

Lita, I have not done the 6 workout a week thing with the undulating rotation. We are still walking 6 miles on the weekend, so I count that for one of my cardio workouts. So the last time I posted, we had just been hit with a storm. Well, I went to take my test at school and got stuck at the end of our driveway and DH had to rescue me! The plow had piled it on too thick for my little car to get through. But even in the afternoon from the storm, things began to melt. There are still piles of snow, but it was in the 60's on Sun. We walked 6 miles Sat and biked 10 on Sun. That took care of the legs for sure.

Today I did the supercuts workout. I think that is a favorite of mine. It's less than an hour and it's fun.

Rhea, what is the treadclimber like?

I am officially on my spring break for school, but I'm already doing stuff to prepare for class. This next one is a 6 week class packed with stuff so I'm trying to do as much as I can.

So glad to see you, Melinda ! Gosh, school is certainly keeping you busy, even on your breaks ! I have 2 more weeks to go then I've finished the rotation. I think I'll take a short break and then maybe start again - but this time only aiming for 5x a week ;).

I pulled out an oldie on Sunday...Muscle Endurance...and I'm paying for it!! Wow, sore muscles all over and I could not do all the reps. That one is going to be back in the rotation this week. I'm thinking of doing Boot Camp this week too. :)

Hi, Rhea :D! ME is a tough one, Rhea ! It was my first Cathe workout - I remember seriously straining my biceps (as I kept going down in weights to make it through the set). Things haven't changed much with that workout since then :p!
