Low Carbers & Friends - April 2012

Shadow

Cathlete
Hope everyone is having a good spring thus far :). Not that any of us have been here much ;) but here's a new thread in case we suddenly get chatty :p!

Nothing to really chat about here. I've got a couple of days off this week. Was going to take the entire week, but don't want to leave new employee swimming by herself quite yet. Not fair to her.

I think I'm going to do the April rotation from Cathe. I was still doing P90X, but I might be a little burnt out on Tony, so need some of that Cathe. I did not get out of bed this morning to workout, so will have to get in gear this evening. I think it is MMA Boxing to start off the week. Sounds like some fun....

We had one heck of a storm on Sat. Poured rain, then it turned to snow and snowed all day. But it is melting fast, that is for sure.

Rhea - You're such a good boss :D! MMA:B sounds like a great way to ease into the month . Nothing like spring weather in the mountains, huh :p?

Hi babes! Thank you for starting the April thread Lita!

I had a great trip! But it was packed with activity so I took a 3 hour nap when I got home with BB and still managed to sleep 9 hours that night. Woof!

I'm glad you are getting some time off Rhea! And I agree that you are a great boss for not leaving a new employee alone all week!

I've been missing Cathe too, will have to check out the April rotation. I did High Reps last week, Travel Fit during my travels and Total Body Tri-sets yesterday. I am a hurtin' woman today! :p And here I thought that the Lower Body Tri-sets weren't too bad when I was doing them--silly me!

What are you doing for workouts Lita? Gonna try the April rotation?

Talk to you soon babes!

Welcome back, Tracy :D! Glad your trip went well ! No - as always, the rotation has too much cardio for me :p... Right now I'm doing 4DS (in 3 days). For a week or two I doubled the weight work and didn't do the cardio. But this past week I did 2 cardios (both on the floor - no step) and just one round of the weight work. I still ended up sore. Probably because I'm going heavier on them than I ever have. I think I'll continue to do them another week or two before moving on to something else. Most like GS will come next and then in the heat of summer, S&H.

Melinda - Are you out there :(??? Hope you're okay!!!

Glad your back Tracy!

Boy, am I the glutton for punishment or what? Do I just do the April rotation? No, I have to add P90X in with it! Tues I did Legs and Back (P90X) AND MMA Boxing. Then yesterday I decided that Kick Max was a good alternative to KenpoX. hahahahaha...I forgot how long Kick Max was and those blast challenges, then the conditioning exercises. I've been a little sore. I was going to do Athletic Step and the Chest, Shoulders and Tri workout from P90X today, but I might have to push it off until tomorrow. Looks like we're going out to dinner, so no time (and didn't do anything this morning...slept instead!)

Rhea - I think sleep & dinner both sound like far better ideas than all the exercise you've been packing in :p ;) :D!

Hi everyone, been busy and in a bad mood. Feeling ok today, just not sleeping very well. So I've been plugging along with STS, kind of got behind a little, but have 1 week left to finsih it up. Maybe I should look at the April rotation. Haven't done any of those in a very long time.

So my oldest son got attacked, trying to help out another guy being attacked. A group of people on campus were, punching and kicking some guy on the ground. He went to the rescue and got the same. He got a cracked nose and cheek. The good thing is he can now breathe through his nose, ha, it's been clogged since he was little. I guess the deviated septum is undeviated. Who knows while it was heeling, he did say that the side part would come out a bit if he blew his nose hard, but that stopped. He got a nose job for free! He is ok.

Anyways, then his car broke down a day later, so things were rocky a bit, but all is good now, car is fixed, he's out of pain and the sun is shining.

Tracy, I didn't see where you went, was it on the other thread? Sounds like you had a good time. Rhea, you sound like a nice person to work for/with. And I have to say I'm glad we have such good weather, I don't think I'd want any of that snow.

Our trees had blossoms and I think they are ok, not hurt by any frost. If so, we will have pears and black sweet cherries this summer. Getting the seedlings ready in the house for tomatoes. Lita, do you have a garden? Not sure if you've ever said. I used to be not as excited about it, but am more into it now.

Happy Easter!

(((Melinda)))!!! I hope things soon look brighter for you! AND that you start getting some better rest :). Sorry about your son - but I also applaud him because I know it took guts to jump into the fray to defend that guy! Guess the free nose job is what they call a blessing in disguise, right :p? I used to garden but like you, just am not really into it anymore. We have deer overrunning the town. I am going to put up deer netting around my garden and grow a couple things - just because I spent years getting that plot tilled and worked so now I hate to just have it become a deer dumping ground ;).

Happy Easter, everyone :)! I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

Hi babes! Good to see you Melinda, I am glad everything is OK now! I imagine it was not fun going through it though. I had surgery for a deviated septum in my early 20s and I asked that a little extra cartilage be removed from the tip of my honker. I woke up with back eyes because the Dr. had to break my nose. I looked like I got in a fight for sure. :)

I went to San Francisco to see my dad. :D I grew up there and still really like it but have no desire to move back there. I'm not up for starting life all over again somewhere else. I did that when I moved to Portland OR in 1990 and have no desire to do it again. Lita, you can probably relate to that!

I'd work for you Rhea!!

We finally have some sun here--yippee! In the 60s yesterday and today. BB is enjoying it too, he likes to lay in the sunshine like a cat.

Plugging away with Chalene at work and fitting Cathe in or a run with BB when I can.

Happy Easter fit babes!!

Wow, Melinda, you have had a couple of rough weeks. Glad it is getting better and that son is okay.

I've been doing the extra workouts when possible. Had to take today off since Muscle Max pooped me out yesterday. I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow morning. I've been enjoying doing all the old Cathe. Tomorrow will either be P90X back and biceps or the STS Total body, upper?.....I think that is what the rotation calls for. I have never done STS Total body, so I might end up doing that one in the morning. Then some sort of cardio in the afternoon when I get home. Probably won't be able to get a walk/run in since it is supposed to rain....again....at least it isn't supposed to snow. We only had one day of warmer weather. I sure would like some more.

Hope everyone else is plugging along! My next BFFM challenge is quickly approaching.

Tracy, I had a co-worker that moved to San Francisco. They lived right down town. She was from L.A. and moved there because her boy friend wanted to live in the city. They are still there now.

Lita, that is not good about the deer. There are really so many of them everywhere, even here. It's a danger to drive, too, so many by the roads and high ways. I think I'd be upset if the deer were eating up everything I planted.

Rhea, I've done the total body STS before, don't remember exactly, but not the same at all as regular STS, I believe the reps were faster. I liked it, though.

Spring break for my son. I am working, but from the home so I'm here.

Have a good week. We still continue to get great weather, the plants are a month ahead of schedule according to gardeners.

So I ended up doing the STS Total Body upper body premix as per schedule. I can't believe that I got the shakes from doing that short workout! Wow. Of course, since it was so short, I heavied up on some of the weights. Except the last triset, I decided that I had better keep it light, I had rubber arms.

So I'll do some sort of cardio in the pm, but not sure what I want to do yet. Tomorrow is IMAX3, haven't done that one in ages. Hope I survive.

Rhea, the rotation sounds interesting. I am just about done with STS, one more workout to go. Maybe I'll take a look at it for next week.

I've done a few of the low impact workouts, and doing those after doing STS, I can actually do some stuff that was a real struggle before.

Off to check out that rotation! Night all!

IMAX3....oooh how quickly we forget! I was tired at the first blast! I guess I had better do some more of the IMAX type workouts. Geesh.

Hi babes! Gosh, the east is sure getting nice weather! We had 2 days of it last week, now we're back to rain. The west has been left out of the good weather we're supposed to git!

Melinda, between L.A. and S.F., I'd take S.F. for sure!!

Rhea, you are knocking out those workouts! I only do IMAX 3 one half at a time. :p I really need to try the whole thing again to see if I can do it! I need to do STS Total Body again too. So many good workouts, so little time!

Rhea, please remind me, what is BFFM again? Is it a BeachBody challenge or something else?

Did Slide and Glide today. Was able to get through all of the #@&*%$! burpees without stopping for the first time. Yippee! I will not try to hazard a guess as to why, just glad I could do it.

Have an awesome weekend babes!

BFFM = Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle...not a beachbody thingy. It is a Tom Venuto thingy. (he's the author of the e-book) I'm currently re-reading all the stuff so I can be on top of my work (cause it is a lot of work) for the challenge.

I did STS Lower body only yesterday...wow, I think I will have DOMS later.

Hello, my friends :D! I didn't know there were posts  - not that I have much to say, anyway :p.

Melinda - It's not a good situation for the deer or for people :(. Too many accidents - and too many starving deer... Hopefully the low intensity workouts won't cause as many issues for you since STS seems to have helped you quite a bit :).

Rhea - You rock if you managed all of Imax 3 in one fell swoop ! I don't have it but I figure it's just like Imax - but 3 times harder :p!

Tracy - That's how I used to do Imax, too. Very rarely did I ever do the whole thing. But it was good for an add on until my tape fried. Way to go on those burpees!!!!

Yep, likely story Lita. Just ignoring us, huh? LOL JK

Think I wore myself out last week. I didn't want to work out at all over the weekend and not even this morning. So I'll just pop right back in with HIIT 30/30 this afternoon and go a little more slow. Ha. I'll try.
