Low Carbers and Friends - 2nd quarter 2015

Hi fit babes! I did review the intros on the weight workouts in Rw/H and I got nothin'! So I think I'll just lower my weights so I don't dread doing them and call it good. :)

And Lita, I struggle too coming up with rotations! Last week I was at a loss but this week I've been able to make decisions on what workouts to do. :D PUB yesterday and stair climbing, Afterburn today and nothing for tomorrow. Supercuts on Thursday I think.

Hi Rhea! Man, you are a very strong woman! You go girl!! That's very sweet of you to give your deputy another chance. I can't imagine how awful she feels not being able to function at work. 10 years ago, I was crying at everything: songs on the radio, a touching commercial on tv, just about anything. A friend told me it was a form of depression and I fought taking medication until I was sick of crying. Been on anti-depressants ever since and I am very grateful that I no longer do that. But on weekends, if I'm relaxing in the a.m. and haven't taken the meds yet, I will tear up at things. Bleah! I hope your deputy can get her meds in balance!

I love being outside to exercise too Melinda! I'm happy that my dog requires regular walks/runs to get me out year round. I'm sorry about your dvd player at work! I wonder if you can get something like a universal remote for it.

I was smacked in the head with the menopause cast iron skillet this year! The 21 day program I did really focused on clean eating and a protein powder Beach Body sells called Shakeology. I've kept the weight off by eating clean a lot more than I used to! I've also stuck with the shakeology. It's not cheap either. :( However, I am a Beach Body coach so if you are interested in going for it, I can get you started on the challenge. :) How are the Tracie Long workouts going? She came out with 2 last year that help with better movement as we grow up. :D The are called Stronger Longer and they are both a mix of cardio and weights and I really like them. Just sayin'. :)

I didn't realize that about Core 2 either! See how much I pay attention to things?

Lita, things at work are chaotic again with more change our new division chief is doing. It's exhausting! :p That and personnel issues with a highly self-absorbed paralegal certainly keep things from becoming dull. But I could do without the latter!

Have a healthy week babes!

Tracy - we could all do without drama queens (and kings)!!! Just think how much more peaceful and calm life would be without them! Sorry work is exhausting you again :(!

I'm sticking to what I did last week and I think I'll do it for 3 or 4 weeks total - the XT uppers and legs (not the cardio blast) w/ cardios. After 3 or 4 weeks I'll do the Burn Sets for uppers and MAYBE the lowers from LI for a change on that. Or I might modify the leg blast w/o that has way too much impact for me. Time will tell ;).

Hello all! I've been doing absolutely nothing in the workout department!!! I think it is the rainy weather we've been having, just want to veg. Of course, I don't get to really veg much being the female in the house. You know, the cook, cleaner, all around person that does most everything. I would sure love to have my dinner for me....but then again, I probably wouldn't get a healthy one.

Tracy - a beachbody coach huh? Sweet. I think I need you to be mine!! LOL My coach is always changing and I don't know why. I don't think I've ever order through a coach, always on my own. I've been tempted to do the 21 day fix, but I've noticed a change with doing the right weights. Next Sunday is my start day for the annual BFFM 98/million step contest, so I'll be eating clean and every three hours again. No wine either. Wow, my tummy will flatten out in one week with no wine in the diet. LOL Also, I have found that it is gluten that really screws me up (well, that and sugar) Have something made of a lot of gluten and I'm not a happy camper for a couple of ays (sometimes it is worth it a bit., ie., pizza.....)

Lita - what's up in your world? I see that you are still going strong with the workouts, such an inspiration.

Melinda - how has the workouts gone at work? In the near future, I may have to do something at work just to spice it up a bit.

Hmmm.....BFFM workout plan is to so STS every other day (still on week 2.....been taking a while to finish week two...lol) That will take a lot of the 98 days; cardio and PIYO between the STS days. I think when STS is done or during the "rest" week I might revisit Tracy, haven't done hers for a long time. My excuse this week is I'm resting up for the next 98 days......hahahahaha

Rhea - You are so funny :p! Not much happening here - workouts, work, yard duty, visiting the nursing home - that pretty much consumes my entire week. But it's all good :). And of course, I'll soon add gardening to the mix.... I'm riding my stationary bike at night, too - but as I get more yard work to do as summer moves in, I'll be out doing more of that and less riding. Don't know how inspirational I am ;) but once menopause hits, you gotta keep moving if you wanna keep it off...........

Pst, boy don't I know it. You would think that the great heating of the body in flashes would burn something off! But no, we have to get the double whammy and put on weight. Something is not right with that picture. I have found that the weights, and heavy ones, are really helping change the old bod.....so I'll be keeping up with that.

Oh my gosh, Rhea, you are on a roll, girl :D!!!!! I agree w/ the wts but I've also found the "total body cardio" like the ones in LIS (not so much XT) and RWH - the ones w/ all the burpees and dragging PU that I whine about ;) - and even boxing - help immensely, too. Now if I'd just eat like I should I might be more successful :p!

Hi fit babes! Lita, I keep going to the 3 series you've been working with too! I did High Step Challenge at home this past weekend and I found it had a ton of equipment changes and I wasn't very thrilled about that. I like putting in an older workout now and again but I really love the past 3 series Cathe did.

This week shouldn't be full of changes, our division chief is on vacation! :p And our self-absorbed paralegal is going on a job interview tomorrow. I hope she gets the job and gets out! :D

Good to see you Rhea! I need a wife as well! I've been doing more interior stuff 'cause our yard needs so much work. I bet DH thinks he needs a gardener! HA!

WOW! 98 days of clean eating and no vino! 21 days was all I could do, and I whined ALOT during the first week, hee hee! I wonder why you've had different coaches Rhea! Maybe people don't stick with it. I'm not trying to build a business with it like Beach Body wants me to do but if I end up helping someone, great! Is the PIYO you refer to the one by Chalene Johnson? Another coach and I have talked about getting it.

I'm with Lita on the total body cardio stuff and cardio in general. It's made a difference with me and I like that my stamina has increased as well.

I still allow myself a treat now and then but my results have kept me on track so far. That surprised the heck out of me really!

Have a great rest of your short week babes!

Tracy - We knew you could do it AND stick with it :D!!!!! The only one surprised is you ;)! Yup the last 3 are my faves. The older ones were good for a long time but now I'm really liking the shorter workouts . I hope her next series is like XT, LIS and RWH (not that other non-named series she did between XT and RWH - that one didn't appeal to me). Speaking of which, surely she's working on a new series soon, right :p???? I mean it's been a while - at least a couple of months !

LITA - LOL another new series for me to get? hahahaha....as if I don't have enough to do already. I haven't even done all of the ones that I have, for some reason I chicken out on the tabata, or HIIT ones.

Tracy - PIYO is an incredible series. Now, I have not done the whole thing yet because it didn't have weights. It is tough though and probably another reason why I chickened out of the longer ones. It is awesome for getting you upper body strength and stretching you out. I tend to get too stretched out at first and end up stopping until the muscle tension goes away. (my back gets tight) I really need to just keep doing it so that the back gets used to stretching out. Well, actually, it is probably the hips that get stretched out the most (feels awesome) and then tightens everything up. I started it back up this weekend with PIYO lower body alignment (my fav...20 minutes and great stuff) and then I golfed. Had a tension headache the next day, but that was also day three of golf .....duh....all that upper body swinging/twisting will tend to tighten up that back.

okay back to work for me......Have a great day everyone!

Rhea - I look forward to a new series but unlike you and Tracy, I only use Cathe so it's not so overwhelming for me ;). That Tabata is tough - and that's even w/ me making it low impact ! If you want your thighs and butt to hurt for day, do those frog jumps in Tab 1 - OUCH!!!!!!!!!!

LOL,,,frog jumps, love to hate them. They do hurt for a while. So does STS lately. I'm a little scared of what type of DOMS I'm going to have later today. So far, so good, but I was being good and pushing it very much yesterday with the weights. I couldn't do all that I was supposed on the double wave set for chest presses, but I tried (with the exception that when I could barely handle the 70 lbs, I though that adding 4 more lbs would about do me in...lol....I didn't want DH coming home to me stuck with the barbell across my chest)

I probably won't be able to raise my arms later, but what the heck, gotta build that muscle somehow.

Rhea - Wow - you are rocking on those weights!!!!! Jeez - you make me feel like a wimp :p! And no, getting pinned under your weights is not a good thing at all - besides which, DH would probably wonder around the house totally oblivious to your situation while he was wondering where you were ;). I'm pretty sure it's a man thing, lol!

Lita - I love the fact that I can lift so much.. At least it seems a lot to me. I just would like the fat to start melting a bit faster so you can see the muscle that HAS to be under there! lol

Rhea - I definitely think that's a lot of weight! I've maxed out at 54# (using dumbbells - I don't have a barbell). Any time I've tried more than that, I've strained my hernia getting them hefted up and then I'm miserable for weeks. I see Cathe picking up 35# dumbbells and I'm just dumbstruck at how that itty bitty thing lifts them like they're nothing! I assume I can lift that heavy (although the max I can try per side is 30.5" if I use all my wrist weights and weighted gloves) but I wouldn't be able to do anything with the weights once I got them lifted :p!

Hi fit babes! Wow Rhea, you ARE a strong woman and you have every right to brag about it! My limit is 50 lbs before my back tells me it's not liking my choices. :) And I know darn well that if I get stuck with a barbell on my chest, BB will come in and just start licking my face. He's not very helpful that way.

And thank you for the info on PIYO, I plan to get it, just don't know when. I need to stretch more, badly. My massage therapist proved that for me again today! :p

Lita, you crack me up! You are doing just fine without putting all of those weights on to just stand there and do nothing with 'em. :D I too am eagerly awaiting a new series from Cathe, I'm quite impatient in that regard!!

And thank you for the kind words. I just read on Cathe's newsletter that most people don't stick with a major overhaul in an eating plan so I didn't want to set myself up for failure.

Later fit babes!

Okay, there is an announcement of a new series, and yes I already ordered it. I even tried the downloads this time just for fun. I figured if I have one set that I can download, then maybe I can view them on the ipad and do them here at lunchtime(ones with no equipment that is...)

Once again I've been screwed in the workplace. My deputy went out again last month and was supposed to be back this coming Monday and now I've heard that she is back in the hospital and the docs wrote her out until July 1. Geeze Louise. Im feeling pretty old when I'm thinking that the mental health of our twenties aged population is terrible. No stamina for stress or something like it. So I've canceled my time off in July and my Monday next week because I have to work. ERRRRR.

Okay, I had better get back to work. I've at least got to get the bills paid today.....ahhhh, that time of month, bills are due. :) :p

Talk about asking and receiving ;)! I realize the new series is intermediate but I figure w/ Cathe, that's enough :D! Besides, it has LI cardio so I couldn't resist :p!

Tracy - Well, there is at least the benefit of the workout of getting everything strapped on and hefted up :p! Not just kind words at all - I happen to have a lotta faith in ya, girlie ! We appreciate the things we have to work hard for, you know!

Oh Rhea :( :( :(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're right - the younger ones don't seem to have any gumption.... It's a shame you're really stuck because of the disability. Good for her, not good for you...... (((HUGS)))

I had to laugh when I saw the announcement this a.m. and of course I preordered too! There are days when I definitely need a more intermediate level workout and here they are. Yippee!!! :D

Exactly Lita! I've been hauling a heavy binder at court the last 3 days just to give my arms a little work 'cause I'm not getting my workouts in at lunch. Whatever we can do, huh?

Oh Rhea, I am so sorry!!! :(:(:mad: I've taken some seminars on the different generations in the workplace and I would say the millenials (the 20 and 30 somethings) are more sensitive to criticism and are used to getting gold stars just for participating. And the real world is nothing like that! But as far as having mental breakdowns? I'm afraid your deputy is weaker than most people. We've had our share of mentally ill workers where I am, it's very hard to deal with. Is there a way you can let her go due to her failure to complete her work? What has your HR department said?

Actually, she is still on her probationary period so I can let her go at any time without cause and I don't have to say why. But even the attorney for the county said need to think about the human part of it since she is hospitalized for anxiety/stress things. I know she realizes that her job is on the line, but I don't know if I can let someone go while they are in the mental hospital. I would hate for anything to happen to her because of it.
