Lost my friend yesterday....

Jenni-
I am very sorry and sad for you. I have lost a kitty to a hit and run driver , and was so startled by how sad our family was.

People who have pets understand how their love is unconditional and how they are such special companions, family really.

(((Hugs to you)))

Jennifit,

I am soooooo sorry for your loss. I cry everytime I read one of these posts. Our babies are so near and dear to our hearts, it is very painful to lose them. I have been there myself to many times(once is to many). But, as someone else stated, they bring us such joy and comfort. Just remember all the good times and funny things he used to do, it does get better with time.

BIG, BIG hugs to you!!!!!

Sally

I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand what you are going through as most of us do. I lost my dog a couple of weeks ago and it is still so hard. You get so used to them being there, it's a huge change. Hang in there and know that we are all here if you need to vent. Lots of hugs coming your way;(

Jenni...this is the correct forum! I am so sorry for your loss. I too have had to put some of my precious animals down in the last few years. Time will help and as others have said you gave Zeus a caring, loving life. I did feel better when my animals were out of the pain I saw in their eyes. Now I can smile with all the wonderful and funny memories I have of them. Sending (((HUGS)))....

{{{Jenni}}}

I'm so sorry to hear about Zeus.
I also have an older, diabetic cat named Scooter who may not be around for much longer.

It's always hard to have to make the choice to euthanize, even when it is the most compassionate thing to do. I keep hoping Scooter (and allmy cats) will just not wake up some morning, and go peacefully in his sleep...but the vet said his heart is really strong.

Allow yourself time to grieve and cry and shout and scream, but also allow yourself to think of the good times you had together and honor his memory. The pain does lessen with time, but the memories stay.

And when you're ready, there is another little soul out there somewhere looking to love and be loved.

Jenni, I'm so sorry about your cat. I also have an 11 year old cat and I know he's old, but I know it's going to be really hard for me when I lose him. I really love my pets and it's hard for some people to understand that kind of love. I hope you recover soon. Take care.

Awww, Jennie! I am so sorry about your loss. I can totally understand because we lost our dog a little over a year ago. He was our best friend. Take care of yourself and let your emotions run their course. We know that you gave him the best life that you possibly could and you will always hold a special place in your heart for her. The pain will fade, but you will always remember him!

Jenni,

So sorry for your loss. In time you will remember the good,
happy, funny things about Zeus and the sadness will start to
fade but probably never go away completly. I lost my beagle and
two cats within 1.5 years and since May 2006 I have had no more
pets. Each one had to be euthanized. I really miss them, they were such a big part of my life but you did the right thing and it takes
courage and bravery to not let them suffer.

FYI
I work at a veterinary hospital and several of my friends here have
said the euthanisa option is why they chose veterinary medicine over
human medicine because in human medicine all you can do is watch
people suffer until they pass on, with animals there is the option
to stop the suffering (although it breaks our hearts to do it)

Oh WOW Jenni, I am so sorry. Your grief sounds so raw, I know that feeling well. It can be so hard when you lose such a beloved pet! Take time to experience your loss and DON'T let anyone try to tell you it was "just an animal". Our pets are just like our family!!

Be comforted by the fact that you know he will not suffer anymore.I had to put my cat down years ago after I found out she was in renal failure and had cancer. She wasn't debilitated yet but I swore I would never see her like that, or make her live that way....FOR ME. You did the right thing.

Your post just makes me want to cry! I wish you peace at this time.

(((((HUGS)))))))

Hugs and Prayers

Jenni, I am so sorry. I am sending hugs and will keep you in my prayers. I know how painful it is to lose a furry friend. They love so unconditionally. I still miss my beloved kitten. I lost her to a hit and run driver over 20 years ago. A beloved pet will always have a special place in your heart.

Hugs and prayers for Jillybean, Shelley, Lisa, Jane, and all the others who are grieving the loss of a pet.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Thank you, Everyone! I can totally feel your support and love. I truly appreciate all of you. Thank you for caring.

Boy, do I know what you're going through! I lost my first cat to diabetes (my fault - I let him eat "people" food) and it was one of the hardest things I ever went through. I was closer to that cat than I was to a lot of my relatives. He actually was instrumental in saving me from committing suicide one time - for real.

I DID go out and get another cat right away, but I won't tell you to do that. Every one is different.

I had my kitty on dialisis for weeks before I finally let her go. I, too, went out right away and got another. The new one wasn't Sadie but she had new qualities that I quickly grew to love. Plus kitties are so much fun (and they take your mind off of your pain) - even at 4:00 a.m. when they are attacking your feet! Take care - the pain will pass.
