'Lost' Fans....help!

Ok Lost fans, I need your help! I totally forgot to record Lost last night and I saw the last 5 minutes! AUGHHH! I don't need a scene by scene replay, but can someone give me a quick update on the show last night??? What happened to the guys with the 'tribal' people who were beating them up (I saw that on the previews). What's up with the counter thing at the end?? And what/who in the world is that guy in the underground thing that Jack knows from the past??? I know that if you miss one week, you are totally lost (maybe that's why they named it LOST :)

Please help!

Thanks!

Robin,

I'm "Lost" also. I just started watching it this season. My mom called while it was on and so I was half watching it. It seems that Jack and John are now the two new recruits to push that button to reset the counter to 108. Desmond left the underground bunker. Desmond did recognize Jack and asked him about the girl he was trying to help. Jack said he married her. Her name was Sara. I completely missed the tribal scenes. I hope someone else can put more to the story.

Hey - I love this show but I don't think I could do it justice.

Check out www.televisionwithoutpity.com

They recap shows really well. They'll post a short version first and then the long play-by-play is posted a few days before the next episode.

Jin, Michael and Sawyer ended up in a pit and Ana Lucia was thrown in there with them but only to get their gun. She turned out to be with The Others (she is the girl Jack met in the bar that was sitting in the back of the plane).

The counter indicates that the code (the lottery numbers) needs to be entered into the computer every 108 minutes or something bad will happen. Desmond (from the stadium in Jack's flashback) was on his race around the world and crashed on that island and some guy (who was originally in the hatch) brought Desmond into the hatch and explained the 108 minutes/enter the code thing. That guy died and Desmond has been alone ever since. Jack and Locke watched a video that shows the hatch/108 minutes as some sort of experiment but it never really says what will happen if the code is not entered. The computer is shot during a struggle between Kate and Desmond and they go get Sayid to fix it (Hurley comes along too). Desmond leaves because he thinks the computer is broken and something bad will happen but Jack chases him and tells him he thinks it is actually a psychological experiment to see if they tell someone to enter a code and push a button every 108 minutes, how long will that person do it. Jack thinks nothing will happen if the button doesn't get pushed. Well, Desmond runs off and Jack goes back to the hatch. Sayid fixes the computer and they enter the code and push the button.

I hope that helps...I'm sure I'm missing a ton!

Ok, Kate found a shot gun and played the hero for John. But in her efforts to get (was his name Desmond?) off John That guy shot the computer that reset the counter. He began freeking out saying that they were all going to die now. To make a long story short Jack managed to get out of him why he was there, and that was because he was on a race around the world and a guy grabbed him when he landed on the island and told him to put in the code and push execute or they would all die. He's been there ever since. Jack asked why he thought that and there is a film that he and John watched that says you have to do this and there is a science experiment going on, but this is something that went wrong. So, that's what the counter is for, to determine when everyone will die apparently if you don't put in the code every 108 minutes. Jack is having a hard time believing it. Desmon, if that's his name, ran away, so it looks like John will be staying underground to push the button now every 108 minutes.
We still don't know who "the others" are. But Saywer had a plan to shoot the big sumo looking guy, but one of the others were put in the cage with them and tricked them into thinking she was on the flight with them and had been lost on the island alone. She got the gun and got out of the hole.
We still don't know where Walt is either. Looks like Jin ( I think that's his name, the Japanese guy) starts speaking english soon here. That's kind of wierd, and he says that everything that we know is about to change.

Thanks Mikie & Kathy. That does help. I think I know enough now that when I watch next week I won't be totally 'LOST'.

Thanks again!

So that girl WAS on the plane?!? My kids said that she was the one that Jack met at the airport bar but I didn't remember that part. I wonder why she's helping "the others"???

Did anyone else crack up when Hurley came across the big food pantry in the underground hatch? It was like he found nirvana!! LOL!!

Does anyone know what happened to Jack's wife and why they're not married anymore? Was it mentioned before? Death? Divorce?

Angie

Angie we're still in the dark as to why Jack and his wife are no longer married. But it appears that Jack is very upset about it.
Yes, I thought that was very funny when Hurley saw the food. I love Hurley I think he's one of my favorite characters. He's just so funny! Like when he asked John why he blew open the hatch and John asked why not. Hurley replies, "Oh, I don't know, maybe because I was running at you saying don't do that." I just lost it! He's great!

Kathy

Here is my take.

Delvin ( the other guy in the pod ) didn't die ( notice this has not been explained by Desmond ). I think he was cracking under the pressure of being there, Dr. Candle had his death faked, and sent him to the luny bin, where he meets up with another patient...Hurley. This could be the guy that kept saying the number sequence over and over which Hurley used to win the lottery. It would explain why he knew those numbers.

Just a goofy thought, but kinda fun.

I also think the girl in the picture with Desmond was the woman that John was involved with, but I didn't get a good look at the photo.

The others could be people who were in the back of the plane....

Now I am really out of control, someone slap me..!

So, that's what
>the counter is for, to determine when everyone will die
>apparently if you don't put in the code every 108 minutes.

Desmond thinks it will be the end of the world if the code isn't put in.

But Saywer had a
>plan to shoot the big sumo looking guy, but one of the others
>were put in the cage with them and tricked them into thinking
>she was on the flight with them and had been lost on the
>island alone.
The woman is the same one Jack met in the Airport bar before the flight (and who had a seat in the back of the plane).

I wonder why she's helping "the others"???
I don't think these are necessarily "the others." The ones who took Walt were dressed more like fishermen. These are dressed like natives. Maybe they are the survivors from the back of the plane (like Ana Lucia), and they were afraid Michael, et al, were "The others."

It hasn't been revealed yet.

Or maybe Devlin did die, but his "partner" (who wasn't around when Desmond showed up) cracked and HE was the one in the looney bin?

>The others could be people who were in the back of the
>plane....

See my post below. I don't think this group of people IS necessarily "the Others" that Rousseau was refering to. These ARE survivors from the back of the plane. Maybe they were captured or tortured previously by the "Others" and that drove them a bit crazy (or at least overly suspicious of people they don't know).

Maybe the "others" are what's left of the experiment (that went beyond just the underground bunker...that seemed to be an afterthought to the experiment. Or maybe part of the experiment, to see how long someone would follow those instructions before giving up?)

Anyone notice the copyright date on the film? It went by too fast for me to see it. That would give an idea of how long this "experiment" has been going on.

Though the island "oddness" seems to predate the experiment.

I think Ana Lucia and the other guys are from the plane wreck. When the guy helped her out of the pit, the first thing he wanted to know is if they told her who they are! So I'm guessing that they did escape from the "Others".

I read one of the scripts from one of the Lost websites and apparently Jack is thrown into the pit in one of the episodes. When he escapes, he comes eye to eye with one of the "Others" who is a replica of him.

I tivo'ed the episode and reran the part where they played the film. The copyright at the end of the film said 'The Hanso Foundation, 1980. Funny thing that I caught the second time I watched it was that the doctoral candidates were 'following in the footsteps of BF Skinner'. Wasn't BF Skinner the fellow who trained rats to push a bar to get pellets of food? Seems oddly like what Desmond had been doing with the computer every 108 minutes. Another thing the film mentioned is that the project was studying electromagnetism, zoology, meterology, psychology, parapsychology, and utopian society - all of which have themes in the episodes thus far. It seems to me like the island is a large scale social experiment.

Okay, do you guys think anything significant would happen if the computer was not reprogramed every 108 minutes????

I'm guessing that if the button isn't pressed every 108 minutes a signal will be transmitted to send a boat to take the button pushers off the Island.

>I'm guessing that if the button isn't pressed every 108
>minutes a signal will be transmitted to send a boat to take

LOL Wouldn't that be funny. They don't push the button, the big experiment is over, a boat comes, and everyone is saved from the island.

Did you notice that the sum of 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 is 108?

Gosh. I just had to add in some humor to this thread. This show is so fascinating to me. I wonder if all the people on the Island are dead and that they are in purgatory?

Hmmmm.

I've heard that that's a theory that some fans are talking about on forums. Some things seem to point to it (the fact that many of them seem to have something to atone for...but not all of them?). And I think Kate herself wondered if they were all dead.

I think that was a great theory for most of last season, until the whole "hatch" thing came about. I just hope it doesn't lose it's intensity. The season premiere was great, then the next episode was just okay, imo. This week was better, so maybe the writers are getting it together finally!
