Looking to lean out

Hey Cathe,
I was reading your intro to your Jan. rotation recently, and saw that you said many of us have 3 to 7 pounds to lose after the holidays. I thought, "Seven pounds!!! WHO gained 7 pounds?!" Well, after climbing aboard my scales this morning, I noticed, I gained 7 pounds. I've never done that over the holidays!! So, I'm looking to lean out quickly (but, of course healthily). I've started clean eating again. I take ballet class for 90 minutes (intense) on Mondays and will start this week taking on Wednesdays for an hour. I don't know if this is cardio, but it's definitely strength. The other five days of the week, would you recommend heavy lifting or interval training or what? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! :) Thanks, my fitness guru!
 
Hi Stephanie! Welcome to the seven pound club, LOL! No need to worry about it. A couple of extra cardio's per week with a total body muscle endurance workout thrown in there on top of your normal routine should have those extra pounds off within 3 weeks (IF YOU EAT CLEAN!!!! :) )
 
Because of my work schedule ALL I'm doing is eating clean. On 12/24 I weighed 194. As of this morning I'm down to 180.5 so, clearly, eating clean works. But while I'm loving finally being able to see the results of the years worth of weight training and cardio buried under a deep layer of fat I know I'm really going to be happy once I get back to regular exercise, along with my better eating. Remember though, women tend to gain more and have a tougher time getting rid of fat as we age so it's no surprise you're gaining more over the holidays now than in years' past.
 
This is true, SirenSong. My 34th birthday is this weekend, and I can feel the metabolism growing slower each day. I think it's SO amazing that you've lost so much just on clean eating. Can you give me examples of what you eat each day for breakfast, lunch and dinner? And do you have a snack during the day or do you do several small meals?
