Looking for an elliptical...anyone have this one?

I'm not familiar with the Gold's model, but it seems to have gotten very good customer reviews. I have a Nordictrack Spacesaver, which was a couple hundred dollars more, and seems to share most of the same features. The music port is awesome! The only thing the Nordictrack has that I wouldn't really want to "give up" is the ability to adjust the incline. You really do feel it in different areas of the legs. But for the price, this looks solid!

ITA with Cathy about the adjustable incline. I have that, too, and I love it!! When I set it high for hills there's more of a focus on my glutes, and when I lower it for sprints, it more closely simulates running, and you can feel it in your entire leg -- calves, hams, quads, glutes. Settings in the middle focus more on quads and hamstrings. This feature is worth the extra money IMHO, and if you have to sacrifice the arm thingies in order to get the adjustable ramp, I would. ;-)
 
Thanks Cathy & Michelle. Walmart does have another Gold's Gym model that does have an adjustable incline. It's a couple hundred dollars more, I think.

I'll have to check it out.
 
Melissa, you have gotten great advice. I'd just like to add too that you REALLY want to get one that inclines...gotta be able to do hills ya' know!

Melissa - weren't you looking for a leg press not long ago? Did you ever get one? Also, keep us posted on the elliptical you choose. My mom is looking to get one too!
 
What a good memory!! Yes, I was looking for a leg press. I didn't find one that I liked that could fit in the space I have.

I'll let you know what elliptical I end up with!
 
Thanks! I have looked at several, but haven't gotten any of them b/c of space considerations too. I would make the space if I knew it would benefit me, but I'm not sure of that either. I just don't know enough about using one vs squats/lunges with weights. I always used one at the gym - actually, I used several different machines - leg press and a sort of hack squat machine (at least I think that is what it would be called). Do you know the difference, muscle-wise, in the leg press and hack squat, and this vs squats/lunges, etc? I have seen some machines that are a combo of these, plus calf work. I have seen a smaller leg sled by PowerTec too, but it is only leg press at a different angle than a traditional press, and it also allows for some calf work. Does any of this even make sense?? :)
