LoMax Intensifiers-Or should I say accelerators?
You can always make LoMax more intense by pausing the DVD after each blast and adding some additional leg work (weighted or unweighted), but I know that I don’t always have time to make LoMax longer. These intensifiers can be done in the exact same running time as an unmodified LoMax.
I would suggest adding in some of the more intense moves and then adding a few more later, as these up the intensity, and your heart rate. These will also significantly increase the impact level in LoMax, making it more “MediumMax.”
And remember, you should always GO LOW, and perform your kicks, punches, knee smashes, and knee sculpts with intensity.
Warm-Up
Lift the over-face in-overs and the side ups. You can keep these mods in the final version of the Warm-Up combo.
Step 2
Lift the alternating knees at the beginning before the combo starts (ala the “accelerating” in Imax 3).
Make the front kicks on the corner into a jump kick
Step 3
Lift the knees on the corner, then instead of tripling back and around your step go over the step. It will put you in the exact same position, but is a harder move (on your heart that is, I’m forever screwing up triples around the board!)
In the first part of the combo lift the knee straddles and knee face front before you add the slap claps.
You’ll only be able to keep the first mod in the final product.
Blast #3 (If you actually want to make this harder) Put a lift on the dynamic outer thighs where Cathe has you do a little “push up.” In other words, when she tells you to keep one foot in contact with the step, you jump and break contact with the step.
Step 4
After the turn and walk, instead of doing basic steps on the narrow end of the board, turn them into “starburst arm and switch your feet” ala Imax 3 Blast #3.
Then lift the step knee straddles. You can keep both these mods in the final product.
Step 6
After the grapevine down the board you can go over the step and back (the long way with a clap overhead) instead of doing 2 sidesteps. This only works in the first part of the combo. Then, when Cathe inserts the 2 pivot turns and one side step, you can lift the side step.
When it comes time to insert the lateral A step, the first half (on the board) is the same, then instead of doing 2 side steps on the floor do 2 ski hops instead. This is the only mod you’ll be able to keep in the final product.
These are the mods that I have been able to come up with and do on a regular basis, but I’d love to hear what anyone else does when they want to crank up the impact and intensity in LoMax.
